Royal half-shrugged. “Its okay. A bit weird, having Sh- um, Lieutenant Triton… back. I figured the Skipper would have just sent me back to Counselor and given her her old job back. But I think we can make it work. I made her my second, and she is a solid officer. I mean she really is smart and knows the Security team well and…”

Cori just sort of stared at him with amusement as they reached the turbolift.

He suddenly realized he was starting to babble. He glanced over at Corinne and grinned slightly. “Sorry about that.” and the big Scot actually blushed slightly.

“Uh huh,” she said, trying not to smirk. “Don’t worry, you’re talking to probably the most discreet person on the ship. I won’t say anything, even if you blushing is pretty damn funny.” And she was serious too. Cori had an incredible amount of access to all sorts of confidential things and she would never dream of using or revealing it. It went against everything she was.

Sinclair looked at her and chuckled. “You know if I could, I’d punch you in the arm right now.” and he smiled. Still blushing slightly, he loked up at the turbo lift door and touched the call button and said “I figured you knew, of course. And I know you wouldnt say anything. You’re my friend… I trust you.” His tone was matter of fact, as if acknowledging something so obvious that it was a given.

Sinclair, CoS

“That and you’ve psychologically evaluated me and know I’m not crazy,” she tossed back. “And you could punch me in the arm. I’m solid, when I want to be. But it won’t do you much good,” she said with a sider grin. “Deck Nine,” she called out, even though she probably could have controlled the lift herself. There were times it just wasn’t necessary.

“And I *could give you advice, but we’ve already established that I have a rather… overzealous tendency in my relationships. I’m hardly your best example or source of what to do.” Dalton eyed him. It was hard to admit but she was going to miss him as her therapist. He seemed to actually understand the deep implications of her situation and the mess with Lily and Levi, and why everything with Jarred was so… awkward. She had yet to tell anyone since she had found her way out of the Douwd’s computer prison. Sinclair had been the first, and an act of absolute trust. But she was equally glad he was still here and that they were friends.

She eyed him. “But you seem happy. I’d almost say giddy, but that might not fit that stern persona you’re trying to give off,” Dalton teased.

Royal turned and looked down at her and said with genuine affection “Your advice is always welcome, Corinne. And I’m always here for you talk to… personally or professionally.” and laughed as he looked back at the display. “I mean, I wouldn’t want that whole ‘Doctor’ thing to go to waste.”

Sinclair, CoS

“Well that would just be a bit tragic, wouldn’t it? All those years of studying and thinking and poking about with hypotheses,” she said with a grin.

“I’ve decided, based on a few different things and conversations lately, that I’m going to go talk to Jarred about getting some holoemitters installed in my quarters so I can keep my emitter base there and not be reliant on Sickbay. It’s more complicated than just installing emitters though, so I know I’ll have to be patient, if he says yes of course.”

Sinclair looked at her and grinned wickedly. “If he needs any… encouragement… to see it as necessary, just let me know.” and then he chuckled. “Seriously, though. I think that would do your mental health a lot of good. I will support that request if you need it.”

The doors opened and he stepped out and said “Ok, tour guide… where to next on this scavenger hunt?”

Sinclair, CoS

Cori pointed down the corridor. “Cargo Bay A on this deck. And then from there, who knows,” she said as they walked.

Stepping into the cargo bay, Cori walked around slowly and shook her head as she eyed the multiple levels of crates and he electric eyes went wide. “Right, I knew this was a ‘needle in the haystack’ situation, but this could be worse than that,” she said, glancing at Sinclair. “I mean, I know everything that is logged in the system here, but that’s the point, right? We’re looking for something that isn’t logged.” She could hear the frustration in her voice and sighed.

~Corinne Dalton

“Relax.” he said with a smile, and then turned and looked at the assembled crates and boxes. “Ok, so let’s narrow the field. Think back and try to remember what else was with the shoes. Cross check that with what is logged, and maybe we can find a starting point for this treasure hunt.”
