I’ve have zero matter readings, zero power readings.” which was close to impossible.

Sinclair looked up and said “Captain. We should lock out the computer core. Until we figure out what in the Nine Hells is going on.”

Sinclair, CoS

“Try it, now,” Dante replied although he didn’t hold out much hope the consoles could be reasoned with.

As all hell broke loose, the Tactical console where DaVinci sat begin to take on a mind of it’s own. He waved the smoke away and felt the acrid smoke in his throat.

“Captain, targeting and weapons are active,” he coughed out. “Weapons are locked on the probes we sent out.”

“Shut down weapons, cut power if we need to.” Dante’s tone was calm, it had to be, he was trying to work out how to get the ship out of there but coming up empty.

His hands flew over the console trying regain control of the weapons system. His hands burned from the still sparking board. Pushing the pain away, he continued to try . . . .

Colter (CIO)

As she heard it, she tried to get a lock on the probes. If she could steer them clear of the firing solution....

The probes system were locked out, mostly. Steering was unavailable but sensor data was still coming in. There was nothing there, but at least that was something maybe.

“The backup data core is isolated.” Graham checked just to be certain. “But the problem is, if this is a dimensional change - our computer is transitioning for one existence to another… Isolating it won’t help.”

Graham

Big hands grabbed Colter and he was lifted bodily over the chair and away from the console. “You’re no good to us electrocuted!” said the voice of the Security Chief a s he set the man on the deck. “Hands! Now!” and he broke open the med kit he had grabbed as he rushed to the man, and grabbed the burn gel and ripped the top off and began applying it.

Sinclair, CoS

Sha had an idea. Rather than getting ‘in’ to systems, she started trying to isolate them. Like a child’s game of “Catchit” she was drawing lines trying to separate needed and necessary functions from whatever was happening. She was talking to herself in low tones. “If I get engineering away first....” she tried to catch Engineering when it wasn’t flashing up on her screen as being accessed. If they could gain that footing… security was next.

The system wasn’t co-operating. Commands would take, then be wiped a moment later. What she did see, just for an instant, was a surge in Warp energy from engineering. Then, that reading was lost.

At first, as Colter felt someone pulling away from the console, he resisted. He needed to get control of the weapons. . . . Realizing it was Sinclair (one of the few people on the ship that could move him so easily), he stop struggling and let the COS apply the medication to his smoking fingertips. “Thanks,” was his simple reply.

Colter (CIO)

“Aye. Now be smart. Got it?” and he finished applying the burn gel and began to bandage to cover the worst of it.

Sinclair, CoS

Graham waited examining his sensors… eventually they would tell him something. “Phasers are still tracking…” Teller winced, as he waited.

Sha smiled as the Security Chief finished up. He’d said those words to her on more than one occasion when she first got to the ship. When her temper was as hot as her passion and her head wasn’t always in the right space.

The Saracens Phaser fired, as if on an automated program aiming at one of the two probes that had been launched, the closest one. Graham would note the power reading from the burst was intense, enough to burn out the Phaser Strip it originated from. Colters console appeared to struggle with the surge and sparked once again, this time fading into darkness afterwards.

As the Phaser blast struck the probe Graham would note something else, the energy of the explosion had opened a small ‘hole’ where the probe had been. As the ‘hole’ appeared the computers and consoles came back online, the Terran symbol flashing on them and the LCARS display settling into an unfamiliar colour pattern. The targeting solution on the second probe ended.

While the computers stabilized, more information flooded in through the ‘hole’. What was immediately of note on the sensors but not visible to the eye, was wreckage of a vessel on the other side of the hole and beyond that, sensors picked up two ships which appeared to be of an unknown Klingon style configuration.

Dante turned to look at the viewscreen, then at the consoles around him showing a Terran symbol and frowned. “How did the probe make that? Run a scan and find out what it is.”

Captain Knight.

Sha noted the engineering surge and frowned. She shook her head unable to find record of the surge. “Sirs,” her comments aimed at both the Captain and her Chief. “Just for a second, there was a warp surge in engineering.” She tapped the console to send a query to engineering about the surge to see if they could give her an answer. “Query sent to engineering.” She stated once it was done.

As the Terran symbol flashed again, she looked back towards the view screen and saw the ‘hole’. “What in the world?” Then once more, as commands were given, her head was back to the console and typing out furious commands to give her as much on the readings as she could.

She also checked the phasers to see if they had truly lost one to the power surge, or if everything was still ok and available if needed.

“The explosion opened a minor rift in the nothingness… Its not huge, but there is an causeway to real-space.” Teller’s head stared into the screen.

“In the real space, which I have to assume is an alternate universe, there are two unknown, but Klingon ships and a least one more that has been destroyed.” He looked back… “Sounds like the Klingons.”

“I’ll scan for life forms.”

Graham
