Once upon a time, sleep had been occasionally elusive. But that was before. These days, the being known as Corinne Dalton didn’t need sleep. It was a strangely convenient perk of not having a flesh and blood body, and these days rather useful for getting work done.Such as it was. It wasn’t that her work was frivolous, but more that she wasn’t entirely sure yet what she wanted to focus on. For all she knew she had decades or centuries longer to explore her options. So long as this ship was functional, so was she. And while a terrifying thought some days, it did not occupy her thoughts as often.

Moving through the ship was beginning to come naturally to Ella, she began to recognise faces and those faces recognised her back. Tonight however she was dressed in a casual navy skirt held up by a brown belt and a white and blue Polkadot blouse. Her hair was down and bobbing freely past her shoulders as she rested her polaroid camera around her neck from its strap. She had been wandering the ship restless snapping pictures for her journal waiting for sleep to take her.

Moving, well meandering really, through the corridors on Deck 13, Dalton was enjoying the quiet. She had passed very few people so far, as most were either either on duty or sleeping- such was a ship during gamma shift.

So it was a surprise to stumble upon anyone, but even more so was the who and why. Cori watched the security officer move along with… was that a holoimager?

Cori tilted her head and planted a hand on her hip. Appearing in her duty uniform, she had actually been doing work. “Ensign? she called out, a confused expression on her face. “What exactly are you doing?”

~Corinne Dalton

Having lost sense of direction and time long ago Ella was surprised when a voice in her opinion boomed out at her. Being bent over about to snap a picture of the power conduit she had exposed from behind its panel, its lights were an amazing array of colors and would make a beautiful picture. Bumping her head on the way up she rubbed the impact area and turned, “Cori!” She said in surprised pain still sore from the bump. “Really, must you always sneak up on me like that?” In truth, they had only met twice but the first time she had appeared on a dormant console adjacent to the one she was using again making her jump. This was the first time she saw her fully formed, her hair was black and her eyes a stunning shade of deep blue that even made her blush, her height was similar to her own though she had an inch or two.

Dalton looked around behind her and then back at Lokaa. “Didn’t think I was sneaking up on anyone. Just passing through after dropping something off in the cargo bay,” she said lightly.

Gesturing to the conduit, the scientist looked critically at Ella. “You do realize how odd this looks, right? Care to explain?”

~Corinne Dalton

Ella looked down to her camera and then to the conduit as Cori gestured with her arms, “Its called a Polaroid camera, its an ancient Earth device which allows me to capture images onto an instant polaroid film. It’s much better than a holoimager and requires way more skill to get a decent picture because of lens glare and such.” She explained a little to excitedly. “Want to see?” She said holding up the camera.

Cori understood what a camera was, though knowing it was a polaroid helped… slightly. It wasn’t the what, but the why. Inhaling an unneeded breath, Dalton simply gazed at Ella. “So… you, as a security officer, see nothing wrong with someone going about the ship taking images of potential sensitive systems late at night when others aren’t likely to be around?”

~Corinne Dalton

Ella simply blinked at Cori before almost appearing to look through her, “I guess but the images are not of anything that would present a security risk and besides someone would have to break into my quarters and steal them. Which means they already know the layout of the ship or just looking to anger me. Its just easier when people aren’t around, you don’t get asked so many questions.” The young Elasian though for a moment and then added, “I’m not a spy or anything.”
