“876190274-Beta-20,” Dalton dutifully replied, watching with a surreal sense of detachment. For a moment it was like they weren’t just talking about a sentimental object that had gone missing, but something much deeper. But it certainly didn’t make very much sense.

~Corinne Dalton

Ella didn’t speak much after her revelations secretly she hoped that Cori’s items weren’t there because at least then she wasn’t at least partly responsible for this whole charade but the better part of her hoped it was so that Cori could have her things back. The conflicting thoughts and emotions she was having rages silently as they carried on their way towards security.

As they walked in, Sinclair said “Ensign, grab the evidence container. I’ll pull the file. Cori, meet us in interview room two.” and he walked into his office.

Ella nodes and took a different past heading towards the evidence locker. It didn’t take long, most evidence was stored centrally so that they could produce too detainees and evidence against them, or sometimes for them. Looking through the files, 876190274-Beta-12, 876190274-Beta-34, 876190274-Beta-16. “Ah there you are” 876190274-Beta-20. She pulled the box and took it directly to the interview room.

Corinne was quiet as she moved in her usual graceful manner into the interview room, though she cast a small glance at Sinclair as he moved into his office.

She was unsettled as she sat in a chair, her expression set in a small frown that was laced with a bit of worry. Her mind, able to calculate things at extraordinary rates compared to her original Human brain, still couldn’t quite figure out what exactly had happened to see one of her possessions end up here in evidence. It was… bizarre.

~Corinne Dalton

“Got it sir,” She said placing the box on the table and stepping back not wishing to touch it for any longer than required, if this was and she hoped it was Cori’s belonging she would have to apologize.

Sinclair was reviewing the file and had a deep scowl on his face. “Cori… I… I have no idea how this happened…” and then his eyes went wide. “Oh… holy hell…” and he looked at the two women. “Your death is being investigated. By someone off the ship. Your belongings were ordered into evidence to be off loaded when we dock at a station next. It happened before I was Security Chief. But it looks like your psych eval triggered an alarm somewhere.”

Cori stood there in slight shock. No. they couldn’t go down this road. A part of her knew that it would be inevitable that someone would look deeper, but so far there were few people who knew the whole story of how Ensign Corinne Dalton was shot and killed on the holodeck and somehow managed to continue to exist in holographic form. Rising to her feet, there was a distinct look of panic on her face.

Royal cursing. That was the first thing that hit Sha’s ears as she entered Security. It wasn’t usual for him and she had a slight scowl on her face as she poked her head around the corner. Her half Klingon features making the look more menacing than confusing. “Royal, is everyth…” she stopped as she realized there were others present. “My apologies, Chief. I didn’t mean to intrude.” She nodded to the others and started to back out of the doorway.

Lt Sha Triton
Security

Dalton’s electric blue eyes landed on triton’s retreating form, worried if they had heard something they shouldn’t have. Even Ella’s presence was now a problem. She had no physiology to have a physical panic attack, but she still had the emotions . they played out on her face as Cori began to pace.

~Corinne Dalton

Ella stood silently, she was usually the insensitive type but seeing Cori the way she was even her own Elasian mind knew that it was time to leave. “I will wait outside Sir, Ma’am” She nodded to each person respectively before departing out the same door Sha Triton had entered, Ella also added “Tactical Withdrawel sir” as she passed him before stepping in the main lobby of security either alone or with company she wasn’t sure.

Sha turned and headed out. She tapped the others as she left and nodded back to Sinclair. “I suggest you head back in. I’ll find him later. And leaving him waiting if you were in discussions, probably isn’t a good thing.” She winked to the Ensign and made her departure.

(the only one that should be retreating lol)

And at that time a deep Scottish brogue said “Ensign! Get back in here.”

Ella clearly had read the mood in the room wrong, she had thought that Cori wouldn’t want her anymore and that her job of retrieving the box was finished, she stepped back into the room where Cori was still pacing and Royal was looking into the evidence file. She waited patiently unsure what more she could offer, human emotions were so difficult to read sometimes.

Royal reviewed the logs and the evidence file and swore again. After a minute or two, he looked up and said “Ok. From what I can tell, someone off ship has started an investigation into your death. They’ve labeled it ‘suspecious’, and have flagged all your belongings as evidence to be examined the next time we docket a Star Fleet installation.”
