Vadoma’s scan indicated that the order to target and fire had come from an automatic combat solution that Cori herself had initiated from the Bridge. The solution was a last ditch firing order to target and destroy all small missiles, torpedo’s and probes in the vicinity of the Saracen. Unfortunately the firing solution had been barely compatible with the Saracen’s internal engineering and power assignments, resulting in the Phaser Bank burning itself out with an overload instead of multiple rapid beams of energy designed to destroy projectiles.

That surge was hugely affected by the surging warp core behind them, which had now built up enough energy for the conduit NE Bronson was standing next to to burst, showering the man with superheated plasma and throwing him across Engineering in a shower of sparks, screaming as the Plasma bit into his side and face. More alarms sprang into place as the plasma vented through the conduit barely missing the other crew around it.

Covering her eyes from the brightness of the sparks Ella was standing and had been scanning the room. The sparks had engulfed the room like a large firework display being set in engineering, the screams were far the worst thing she had ever heard in her life, it was sickening to the core Ella would certainly hear those screams weeks to come.

Barely had the conduit burst than the image of the Terran Logo on the consoles began to flash again and control began to slip away. Cori would feel herself once again losing access to the Computer but she would note that the access she did have was far, far more limited than normal. She had no access to life support, replicators, airlocks or transporters. No access to Personnel files and her access to the weapon systems required authorization by the ships Captain. What she did have, mainly sensors, she was losing as the information of the scan from the Bridge reached her. The rift outside she could ‘see’ in the scanner data was unstable and threatening to close. That in itself might not have been a bad thing seeing as two Klingon warships were on the other side, shields raised and turning towards them.

Instinctively, she had shielded her eyes and turned her body away so as to protect from the blast but quickly she was inundated with information. Albeit, poor information. Unusually disconnected information. “Klingon ships,” she said urgently, still trying to figure out what was going on.

Of course, for those in Engineering the exploding conduits and dangerously overloading Warp Core that wasn’t responding to computer commands was slightly more pressing.

Captain Knight

Stunned between helping the injured and attempting to help with the fires, she finally opted to help the injured and ran to the crewman who had been screaming before she hoped he was still alive. She knelt down as more sparks littered the floor around them she used her body to shield the already injured man and then looked to his face it was melted like wax and the Plasma still burning, she looked around and found a fragment of conduit it was roughly what she needed to dig out the plasma since it was made to deal with its temperature, it had to do.

Ella gulped “This might hurt a little, I’m sorry” Digging the fragment underneath the plasma and flicked the remainder of the plasma out of his skin, the burning of flesh ceasing but the smell still stinging her nostrils. “I need to get him to medical!” Behind her, the alarms continued to erupt around them.

The scene was chaotic, smoke filled the room as she looked down to her hands where crimson marred her usually petite and soft hands, her uniform scorched and ripped as she knelt next to the man who she had hoped to have just saved his life, the world seemed to be going in slow motion as it fell apart around her. Snapping back to reality the screams and shouts returning to normal she stood to lift the man up and onto her shoulder, she was thankful she was Elasian and had extra strength.

(not quite sure who Cori is… lol)

Vadoma was on the console trying to get the warp core to stabilize. When it was obvious that wasn’t going to happen, she grabbed the nearest abled body that wore the right colors and shoved him towards the warp core not caring what their rank was. She shouted above the chaos. “Check the Matter/Anti-Matter reaction assembly! See if you can manually stabilize it. I’m heading for the transfer conduits on this end!” She made her way to the start of the transfer conduits to see why things weren’t circulating like they should be. She glanced around as she moved, looking for the Chief and their guests. Her concern for him was probably higher than it should have been, but there was nothing she could do about it.

Seeing a woman with someone on her shoulder, she passed them and nodded towards the doors. “Get him to medical. Nothing more you can do here.” And she was on her way again.

OOC: Cori is me (Linds). Corinne Dalton aka SARAH, the once human person whose consciousness now exists in the Saracen’s systems and is interconnected and thus she became their AI. Sort of.
IC:
Chaos all around her, Corinne hurried over to the reaction assembly, hoping she could help stabilize. “Can we vent the plasma?” she said. Looking over at Jarred, there was a deep fear in her eyes. “I don’t have full control,” she said urgently. He would understand what that meant, if anyone would.

~Corinne Dalton

“I’m on it, Kalani I want you on this monitor” Jarred said pointing as he got to the console placement behind them. “Rely information as it comes I am going to see about bypassing ice rides and seeing what can be done for his plasma.”

Alindor, CE

“Okay,” she stood at the console trying to make heads or tails at the information coming in. Luckily Jarred was only asking her to play his secretary. Taking a moment she worked the basic control systems she knew bringing up one of the two most secure locations in the ship.

“Natasha,” Kalani said through the cracking channels.

“I have them,” the CMO instantly answered. “I sent down Washington,” she said before clicking off the connection.

The captains wife didn’t need to say more to Kane. people stuck together on the ship. At least now Kalani could focus.

Lt Commander Natasha Knight. CMO

“Attempting venting process now!” Vadoma hollered out as she and another Ensign worked to get the temp down and bring down the spike. “Come on, gimme a response,” she murmured to the system as she and the NE did their best to calm things down and bring the ship back into some semblance of balance.

Venting the Plasma would need to be into space, but there was enough control left in the system to open the valves manually and reduce pressure in the conduits. The Saracen vented Plasma into the nothing around them which did help to bring the surge somewhat under control, but didn’t fix it. Pressure started rising again immediately but it had brought them time. Jarred and Vadoma needed to find a way to get the Core under control.

The console systems indicated that impulse engines had been engaged, and Cori would ‘see’ from what access she had that they were heading towards the rift outside, and the Klingon ships. The ships computers seemed to stabilize again for a moment, with the main engineering console flashing on screen warnings of a Warp Core Breach if the surge was not brought under control. Verbal communication to the Bridge was down again however.

Kalani would find with the more stable system that the console she was using seemed to be using programming that was foreign to the Saracen, and it was conflicting with the proper LCARS system. Cori would find the system resisting her attempts to access it, as if every place she poked, a door would shut in response like something was reacting to her.

Captain Knight, CO

Matter/Antimatter balance was the next thing Vadoma would check. As she ran thru the program and manual checks, she hollered to the others. “I’m running out of ideas here! Anyone got a solution that doesn’t involve ejecting the warp core?” She frowned and looked to see if she had managed to solve the issue or at least buy them more time. She was also watching the build up on the plasma again. She’d vent again if needed. Even time in five minute increments was worth living.

“I think something is in the system. A foreign program or something. It’s not like… before. Not intelligent that I can tell. But it’s strategically blocking my access,” she called out over the fray. “I might be able to do something from within the system. Or I might get trapped in there all over again. Oh! And we’re moving towards the Klingon ships.”

~Corinne Dalton

NE Musk who was wrestling with one of the consoles further into Main Engineering called out in response to Vadoma’s own call. “The power arrangement isn’t compatible with our Core, the computer won’t respond to our commands to adjust it properly,” a console near him exploded as if to emphasise his point. “Maybe we could try manually adjusting the Core’s power arrangement by realigning the Isolinear chips? That might override the program that is trying to control it or at least give us time or more control.” NE Musk wasn’t able to identify what the computer was actually trying to do however.

Vadoma, not thinking, nodded and pointed to the section. “Ok, open the panel, NOW!” She frowned and grabbed a portable suppression canister and put out the small console fire as she ran towards the console, grabbing the canister from the wall as she did so. Once out, she moved to the panel with the NE and between them they attempted to realign the chips so they could gain manual control from the next nearest console. She was still listening to those around her in case the Chief was looking for her.

Next to Corinne, a face appeared on a console. It was a woman with stunning blue eyes who Dalton would recognize immediately. There was a difference, her hair was cut very short and her face wore an expression of disgust and frustration. “What do you mean not intelligent?” Her voice was the same as Cori’s, but harsher. “What have you done to me? I’ll make you pay for this, all of you, even if you have sabotaged me I will make you and that Alliance scum pay.” Without waiting for an answer, the face in the console disappeared.

Dalton stood there with her mouth agape. She did not see that coming.

Cori would feel at that moment the Saracen pass through the rift that was before them and into the Mirror Universe. In response the computers seemed to settle slightly and Communications was restored, although access was still limited by something in the system as Cori had identified. Cori regained some measure of access, but was still limited in what she could access. Mirror Cori seemed to be fighting her every step of the way and had an advantage, she was inside the system.

Seconds later with the restoring of ship wide comms, a message from the Bridge came in

=/\= Engineering this is the Captain, report. We have entered the Mirror Universe and two Klingon ships are closing with us. What’s going on down there? =/\=

Captain Knight, CO

=/\=Trying to stop some surges… we didn’t do it I swear!=/\= Alindor said as he looked around with a confused gaze at all those around. Wondering if they had a better information.

The echo of a second similar voice caught the engineer’s attention. “Hang on..” She stood up and looked towards Dalton. “Was that ‘you’ on the computer comms? I mean, how did we hurt you if you are with us here?” She had vague knowledge of the AI now being corporeal and wandering the ship. She had even passed her a few times prior to the interesting arrival in engineering thru a crawl tunnel.

Not aware it was two different entities talking to one another, not a fractured, singular one, she shook her head. “You need to tell yourself that WE aren’t the problem. They are!” She pointed in the general direction of ‘outside’ where the CO had just announced that Klingons were gathering. She was upset and there was a barking edge to her voice that was swiftly approaching insubordination. She just couldn’t wrap her head around the idea of a machine fighting with itself about who was right or wrong.

Cori shook her head. “That’s not me,” she said flatly. “I can’t split like that. It’s not how it works,” she said trying to keep her voice even. “But we’re in another universe, right? So it stands to reason that somehow something similar happened to me. I don’t get how that’s possible given the circumstance that led to me becoming… this. But regardless, I need to get back into the system if we want to stand a chance of fighting back,” she added adamantly.

But the Captain’s comm was an important opportunity. =/\=Cori here, Captain. We’re dealing with a power surge that’s threatening the warp core. And it appears there’s a Mirror version of… me, that somehow has access to our systems and is fighting our efforts to take back control. I do not have full acces.=/\= Hopefully he’d understand the delicateness of the situation.

~Corinne Dalton

“This isn’t going to end well…” Jarred said upon hearing this.

Vadoma had an idea. Her voice rose excitedly. “Cori,” she used the name the woman had because they hadn’t been introduced yet and wasn’t exactly sure what was happening. “Instead of arguing, tell it to look. Look at the system its in. It will recognize the Saracen even if we are ‘off’ from her own system. Try and get her to see we aren’t the enemy. You can help her maneuver in the system if she will help save the ship and educate us on what happened. Don’t try and fight her, ask her how we can help.”

“I like that idea… go with it… we come in peace… we come peace.” Jarred said emphatically.

It was a long shot but it didn’t seem much different than any person joining a new crew. The old crew didn’t like new ways and the new crew felt lost. It took cooperation to make it work. Maybe this would work as well.
