“So this was your plan…” he snorted with Joy “alright. I accept this duel. But I warn you, I haven’t used a rapier like this since my last assignment, this means 5 months ago, more or less.” Indeed he said the truth. But what the Captain did not knew was that the Rapier was the first sword art that Yuri learned and actually his favorite among the others, followed by the mastery of the one and a half-handed swords.

“No need to warn me, your file indicates skill with the weapon. You don’t lose it.” Dante said.

As he took the coat and put it on his chest, Yuri felt the material a bit sluggish and rough Seems the ones that my father gifted me. he smiled while the memories surfaced his brain depths. Then he carefully took the rapier, unsheathed the blade from the black leather sheath and analyzed its components from the pommel to the tip “Seems a french one. Delicate, beautiful but at the same time functional and light. You gave me a fancy sword, Captain. And it seems also a bit old, but it will do.”
It was time to try the sword. But not before it was given a name: Hannah.

He first swung the sword with a smooth move to the right, then to the left. He tried then the Alfieri guard followed by a normal thrust, then a parry stance and again a second and a third guard stances, thrusting each time to exercise the movements. He was a bit rusty but it was evident that his skills were not dormant at all. With a slight warm-up, Yuri was able to duel.
“Ah-Ah! I forgot how it felt. Next time, I would propose some HEMA, Captain.” He nodded to the man on the other side.

Lieutenant Cdr. Yuri Scholz - Executive Officer

“Careful asking an Italian to fight in medieval styles,” Dante smirked, drawing his rapier and leaving the scabbard against the chair. He moved a few steps back into the open and flicked the blade left and right slightly a few times from the wrist, at the same time leaning forwards and backwards in a short warm up. Whether or not he knew anything much about the art was impossible to tell, until his eyes lifted to Yuri and his hand rose, the blade angling slightly downward at his opponents chest. “What was the saying? There can be only one.”

Off to the side a figure appeared, seated cross legged rather casually, which was absolutely incongruent with the rich dark green fabric that held a sheen. The stiffness of it almost made it hard to tell she was sitting cross-legged, if it were not for her hands folded neatly in her lap. her bodice, in the same green and trimmed with gold was low waisted and forced her to lean back a bit. the long raven strands of her hair were braided at the back of her head, with the sides allowed to fall freely. Pearls circled her throat and hung from her ears.

From her vantage point, Cori watched the proceedings with great amusement, her electric blue eyes visible even from that distance.

Dante glanced slightly towards Corinne and nodded in greeting, but his eyes moved back to Scholz in short order. “You have an audience to witness your demise, Rogue,” Dante spoke, but his Italian accent was now very much in place. “You seem a decent fellow, it’s a pity I have to kill you.”

With that Dante stepped forward a half step, the point of his Rapier darting in testing Scholz’ defenses.

“Oh you say for real?” He didn’t had the chance to look over the only audience that both of them had, but the glance of what was a beautiful her confused and distracted the Commander making him step backward a bit to let the hits loose. Parrying the thrust with a simple rotation deviation, Yuri’s grace to then move on one side permitted the whole choreography to work out pretty much without sluggishness while he demonstrated that indeed he didn’t lost his ability to reset his stance.

After a brief but intense pause, Yuri locked his eyes on the Captain’s Rapier “You know Hauptmann, you don’t even let me see who is our guest that you attack me with such meaningless moves… Pff, Italians, hypocrites but worthy opponents, You’re gonna need a bigger boat, if you want to save yourself.” Balancing on both his legs and feet, the XO kept in mind his old times when he dueled with his father: he always played dirty using moves that at the time weren’t even in Yuri’s knowledge. It was the chase with Mr. Knight? He would have no Idea, but as he stood in a Fabris posture he spent no time and attacked with a sturdy but quick and coordinated thrust.

Lieutenant Cdr. Yuri Scholz - Executive Officer

Dante’s Wrist moved slightly as his body turned to deflect the thrust of Yuri, but in reply he didn’t counter, but stepped back slightly away from the mans Fabris stance. “You care to see our guest when a man with a sword faces you?” Dante spoke, and smirked a little and settled into a new stance himself, where he moved his sword into a Broad Guard off to one side, leaving his own centre exposed but his blade angled to strike from the side at Yuri’s exposed flank should he try and take advantage of the opening. “You are certainly confidant, Sir,” Dante moved the tip of his rapier on slight circles, “those who rely on certainties are certain to be dissapointed!”
