For a while the ship’s crew seemed to Yuri an unknown and conform entity. Even after some weeks being aboard the Saracen, his sense of attachment with the crew wasn’t that strong like the one he had with his Cadets students and perhaps the Commander was seeking new friendships among the variety of people onboard.

But that day it wasn’t an attempt to know the new doctor, recently boarded the ship, but actually a medical issue that involved a Tellerite and variegated food…
“I swear to the gods that if I meet again that damn merchant…” he hadn’t the time to finish the phrase that he curled in an unmanageable stomach ache “Sickbay… thank you for being nearby the quarters!”

Entering the bay he was searching for the CMO but in vain he was told that for that day Natasha was absent. Instead they would have called another doctor to assist him.
“Alright thanks.” Having taken a seat on a biobed, Yuri kept a hand on his belly and with the other scratched his head, fearing a meeting with new people in what he considered an embarrassing situation…

Lieutenant Cdr. Yuri Scholz - Executive Officer

Hannah was enjoying settling in to her duties on Saracen. With just her and the CMO being the only doctors she stayed very busy. NE Stuart told her that the XO had come in asking for the CMO. Hannah nodded and headed over to the biobed. “Hello Cmdr.” Her hands moved purposely with her spoken words and she spoke with a strange accent. She took in his hand on his abdomen. “Stomach problems? Where exactly does it hurt?” It could be indegestion from bad food or a problem elsewhere. While he spoke she took her tricorder out of the pocket of her lab coat and began scanning him.

This woman appeared with a cochlear seeming device on her ears, probably younger than Yuri and really, really appealing. He could only see her grades but haven’t told him her name, the Commander was left with a veil of curiosity of who the heck she was “A pleasure to meet new faces… I guess? My name is Commander Scholz and yes I do have stomachaches, a damn Tellerite sold me some weird food… argh.” He said introducing himself and also stating what illness he had, accompanied with a finger gesture indicating his belly “I really never saw you when i firstly boarded the Saracen… are you the new Artz? (Doctor in german)” he questioned the lady with his german accent.

Lieutenant Cdr. Yuri Scholz - Executive Officer

Hannah picked the probe out of the top of the tricorder for a more focused scan of his stomach. She made a mental face. “Tellerites have a very different constitution for food than humans. I would recommend staying away from anything they offer you to eat in the future.” She looked up at him from her scans. “I’m Lt. j.g. Asimina. It’s a pleasure to meet you Cmdr. Scholz. I’ll have you fixed up in no time. Artz?” she tried the word out as the translator worked and she smiled, “Yes I’m the new doctor. What language was that?” She moved away towards the table where the meds and hypos were kept. She quickly made a mixture and brought it back over to him. “Something for the pain, indigestion, and nausea.” She administered the hypo which should work fairly quickly. She went to the replicator and brought back a glass of water, accented heavily with lemon, but not sugar. “This will help re-balance the acid in your stomach.” She handed him the glass expecting him to drink it.

The Doctor’s quick work impressed the XO, incredule of such performances “I guess the Medbay is in good hands…” he whispered “It is german, madam, pure and sweet german. Eine starke aber elegante Sprache. I’ve noticed you have a strong accent, from where are you Asimina?” Tho he was the First Officer, he have read her files long ago and informations were resurfacing slowly. Instead he enjoyed sitting there and sip what was a really bitter drink while making new friendships “Bleah… Lemon and Water, not my thing, I need to drink it all the way down?”

While things were happening his stomach started again to be normal and the pain slowly vanished. Scholz looked over the joyful Doctor and as he kept sipping the undrinkable mix he couldn’t resist to leave a big smile on his face.

“I’ve never incountered German before. It’s very different.” Hannah didn’t experience languages quite the same as others. Despite her implants she still relied heavily on lip-reading, out of habit, so she got not only the sounds, but the facial expresions and how the vocal mechanisms of the body created those sounds. The translator interpretted the german ‘It is a strong but elegant language.’ She liked learning new languages though she had no skill for actually reproducing the speech patterns.
Hannah nodded and repeated in agreement, “Eine starke aber elegante Sprache.” Before answering his question about her own accent she nodded at the drink. “Yes Cmdr you need to finish it all. It’s not the most palitable, but it will help and after you may have whatever you’d like, except for synthohol or alcohol. They will negativly affect the medications I’ve given you.”

“Every order is your wish.” Taking a deep breath and then holding the glass mid air, Yuri tried to drink all of the substance in one sip. Actually he needed two and as he laid down the glass he made an awkward and funny face “Blergh… I should admit that it was tougher than eating Starfleet rations. Anyway your german isn’t the worst I’ve heard, I like it.”

OOC: ” As You WIIIIISH!” Buahahahaha
IC: “I have often been told that if the medicine taste good it doesn’t work. So, you should be feeling better now.” Hannah smiled, “Thank you Cmdr. I love learning new languages but I have a hard time actually doing so. It is a long process for me, but enjoyable all the same.”

“I am from a little colony world called Catawba. Though my accent isn’t from there. I was born deaf and I learned to speak without hearing the sounds. My voice reflects that. I was 8 when I finally got my implants, but my voice has never corrected itself.”

Lt. j.g. Asimina, Doctor

“I have imagined. I think this makes up something unique of you.” He paused, rocking on the biobed… an awesome piece of tech “ Well I also never got the accent from Alpha Cent colony. My father insisted that I had my german heritage stronger that anything else they had there and so here I am with this Komische accent.” He chuckled “Well, I did not expected to finish this early ahahah… in my experience nursery and doctors across all starships are not this efficient and I was really, really blown away. Do you wish to join me sometimes to take coffee? I am also ‘new’ aboard this ship and I practically have no friends except for the Captain.” He proposed shyly to the woman.

Lieutenant Cdr. Yuri Scholz - Executive Officer

“Komische?” She tried another new word. She would have to make sure her translator was set to pick up all the German if the XO used it regularly. Although, she wasn’t sure how often she would actually encounter him, being a JO after all. “I try to be efficient. No need to draw out medical issues unnecessarily. Some things are bad enough as it is. And so far the medical staff here is the best I’ve worked with.” Coffee? Oh now is that appropriate Hannah wondered. He was the XO after all. But wasn’t his job to know the crew and be their advocate to the rest of the senior staff? She supposed it couldn’t hurt to have coffee. It wasn’t a date or anything. “Does the lounge here make good coffee? I am very particular about my coffee.”
