A day have passed since the encounter with Asimina. As promised the Commander was sitting in a chair in one of the best places the lounge could offer: indeed the windows offered a wide view of the outside and the engines rumbles weren’t as much pronounced as in other parts of the ship. On the table a french coffee press with boiling water and some Ethiopian delicacy coffee were already served and ready to be consumed. It was not replicated, it was pure fresh coffee.
“It is almost time…” Yuri talked to himself, tapping his hands on the table surface and relaxing, viewing the space vaste regions and spectacular show of some wanderer pulsars. It have been a tough day.

It had been a long day in sickbay. The injuries were just stranger and stranger. Hannah finished her reports and was heading back to her quarters when she remembered, and turned back to a different turbo lift to get to Ten-Forward. She didn’t suppose it would look good to forget a meeting with the XO. She entered the lounge and spotted the XO quickly. She walked over to the table. “I’m sorry Cmdr. I had a couple of reports to finish that took longer than normal.” She stood “at ease” next to the table still wearing her lab coat that she forgot to take off at the end of her shift. The smell of the rich coffee reaching her. “If it tastes as good as it smells.” she said about the coffee.
Lt. j.g. Asimina, Doctor

Looking at the woman he couldn’t stop smiling and his face wasn’t neither angry or even saddened by the lateness. He liked to wait for people, maybe not forever, but if someone was in his sympathy circle then he was keen to spend more time waiting “What is that rigid and stiff military position? Relax we’re off duty, Miss Asimina.” He giggled “And no need to apologize. We all do have stuff to do. Take a seat, the Coffee is still warm enough to bring some joy. And yes I assure you it is one of the best coffee I could find. Indeed I paid lot of latinum to get just this bag.” Offering the seat on the other side of the table, Yuri then turned around and poured the coffee in two standard mugs, pushing the other so the Doctor could take it and add whatever she wanted. The table had various options: normal sugar, honey or cream. Being a sweet tooth, the Commander took two spoons of sugar and added a little bit of cream.

Hannah sat down and accepted the cup. She sipped it first. It was strong and rich and really didn’t need anything added to it, but out of politeness she added a scoop of honey to it. “This is very good. I’ve never had this type before. I would venture to say it is worth the latinum you paid for it.”

“We work all day, every day in this place called space and yet we do have little time to admire its beauty. Tell me, Lieutenant, what have spurred you on enlisting in Starfleet?” He questioned the lady mixing the sugar and keeping an eye to the Pulsar. If there was something he loved more than his job was the space itself and the curiosity that instills to its voyagers all around the Galaxy.

Hannah thought about it. “On Catawba we have many scientific observation stations. I helped my father keep them stocked. I got to talk to lots of people from other worlds and I decided that I wanted to see them for myself.”. The coffee was very good and she was feeling fatigued from the busy shifts. “What about you Cmdr? What brought you out travel among the stars?”
Lt. j.g. Asimina

Yuri took a long sip, the sweetness of the sugar wasn’t that pungent but gave the right tone to the coffee. Licking the remains of bits of coffee out of his lips, the Commander then looked at Asimina and from a the jacket he took a holographic photo sheet where a man and woman, wearing White Starfleet Uniforms, stood kissing each other under the rain of Alpha Cent Colony. Below the picture, in the description box, the photographer had the pleasure to write down the names of the betrothed ‘Astra Kovacenkov, Friedrich Alterstein Scholz’

Hannah glanced at the picture. It was a beautiful setting and the couple looked extremely happy. She could see feature of both the man and the woman in the XO’s features. She had no such pictures here with her. She and her family had very few of them. They were always too busy doing things and never stopped to take pictures. It was always something that Hannah had wanted to correct, but then she got too busy into whatever they were doing to stop and take pictures, again.

“This is my mother and this is my father. Beside having nullified their marriage thinking it would have just ruined their relationship at last, they were both Starfleet Officer. For decades they lived on Alpha Cent waiting to get their first baby… for a long period they had stopped being Officers and dedicated themselves to be father and mother. But then their path seemed a challenge to me that I could easily win and so, pushed by the curiosity of the space and inspired by my parents careers, I opted after the University to Enlist myself in Starfleet. I should say I made a good choice, and this coffee is the proof that I was right. Ah!” The Lounge jazz music accompanied the storyline adding a bit of warmth to the tale. Yuri could now truly relax and have some time for himself while on the other hand he was more interested to Asimina herself than his own story “Tell me something about yourself. This ain’t a date or whatever but I mean, people always have some gold nuggets in their life that makes it interesting. Like your deafness and the way you adapted. I find it really amusing… if I am being weird I must apologize but I am like this due my tutoring Academy period. A real ein lästiges Insekt (bothering Bug) some would say… but after some times with Cadets you feel almost like part of their family and you get this spontaneous question…” He shrugged sipping his coffee.

Hannah smiled slightly. She wasn’t sure that finding a special coffee blend was the best that a Star Fleet carreer could offer, but it was certainly a perk. She wondered if you could program the replicator to make coffee as good as this? Hannah was taken a bit aback by the XO’s words, this ain’t a date or whatever. She would certainly hope not. She almost spit her coffee back into her mug. She’d only been on board a few days and she certainly was not looking to ‘date’ the XO. Oh the gossip that would cause and more importantly the complications to her job. “ein lästiges Insekt” she repeated the words, though her commbadge translated it faster than yesterday. “You taught at the Academy? I don’t know if I would have the patience for that. I could barely stand being there as a cadet, I don’t think I could go back to teach.” The noise is what had bothered Hannah. Catawba was a quiet colony, and peaceful. The sound was natural and no a lot of machines. A nugget about herself? Something that was not really a secret but that might help the XO understand her as a person and an officer. “I will often take my implants off. The constant noise of the ship: the engines, the machines, and the people can be overwhelming. So when I am on my own I’ll take my implants off, just to have a break.”
Lt. j.g. Asimina, Doctor

“Understandable” he paused “I am just fine with the constant engine noise and the crew chatter. It is something I got used through time! I would really love to study such devices as I was once Chief Engineer before the Academy. Never saw such things. And yes being tutor on an Academy ship was tough but incredibly useful. I learned a lot as much as a Cadet learns when he boards for the first time an Academy ship. It was called Zeus, she was a beautiful ship similar to this for size, class and settings. Maybe a little older but still functional. I don’t know what is her faith.”

Taking the PaDD he left on the table, Yuri was distracted by a sudden notice that appeared on the screen “May you apologize me a second? Warum es ist immer mich? (why always me? -translated)” he raged in german “Right, okay.” He threw the PaDD on the table “I’m done. My sister, is a damn insubordinate Ensign. I always receive some kind of report for her bad behavior!”
