“I am as open as people wish to find out I am,” Corinne said simply.

Moving her hands forward along the arms of the command chair, she leaned forward and gazed at him. “It’s a very complicated story, but when I first came aboard the Saracen, I was a mortal Human like you. I served in the science department as an ensign and more or less went about my own business without too much fuss. But during some rather extraordinary events, I was killed on the holodeck. Like dead… shot with a projectile weapon. But a sub-program placed in the holodeck preserved my consciousness, so my physical body died, but I did not. Except that that much memory is too much for the holodeck to contain, so I was essentially spread out through the Saracen’s computer and more of less meshed with it. It took awhile for me to understand how I might be useful, and our Chief Engineer, with some external help was able to give me a way to move about the ship where there are no holoemitters, and eventually I just accepted that the easiest way for me to function as a part of this crew was to make use of the fact that I have access to everything and can facilitate things faster than a humanoid can. That’s the short version of it.”

“Hm. Well, seems like you did the best you can with what you got. That’s all you can do in life.”

“Wasn’t much else to do, or else I’d forever be feared on this ship. Still am, but I can’t do much about that if people do’t want to get to know me.”

The doors opened and one of the ships Engineering team walked in, looking around and nodding to the two in the room and recognizing the woman from their brief interaction in Engineering when trying to re-modulate the shields to protect the ship from chronitons. Of course, then, she had been on the screen, now she was in the Captains chair for the rostered Tactical simulation, to which he had been assigned at the Engineering station.

“Ensign Osedi reporting” the Trill said, then grinned slightly, “Captain. Permission to assume Engineering Stations, or Ops as needed.” He looked over at the CTO and waited a moment, it was his practice run, but while someone was in the chair it payed to send the question to the right place.

Ensign Osedi, Engineering

Corinne raised her dark brows as she looked at the ensign. Sure, she was wearing a grecian style gown, but the chair was hers.

“Well Captain Dalton? Where should the Ensign stand?” He asked with a smile. He had decided to leave Corinne in the command chair.

“I was about to say…” Dalton said with a bit of a smirk. “Take Ops Ensign, for the time being.” As she finished speaking, she shimmered and she was no longer in the dress, but in a command red uniform with her full Lieutenants pips. She gave a look as if to say, Better?

~Corinne Dalton, playing captain

Seamus gave a quick smile and nod before going to his tactical station.

“Yes Captain” Than said, grinning slightly as her uniform changed. “That fits you perfectly, by the way. Like it was made for you almost” he teased her a little and then angled his head slightly in consideration and thought, as if he was about to say something then changed his mind and moved to the console and sat down, bringing it online and checking the simulated ships status. “All systems are green, Captain.”

Ensign Osedi, Engineer

“All tactical systems ready to go ma’am.”

“Alright then, helm, let’s get under way. You have the coordinates, warp five,” Corinne said, leaning back a bit in her chair and letting herself get comfy. It was a bit strange, but on the whole, she felt like this was going to be more than a little bit of fun.

~Corinne Dalton

As the false ship rocketed to warp, Seamus felt at ease, despite the Captain being a sentient hologram and there only being one member of the crew who had joined in. He watched space pass by on the viewscreen and almost lost track of the fact that it was a simulation.

A few minutes later, they emerged from warp. They sat in empty space. Then a ship decloaked. “Captain. Romulan Warbird directly ahead.”

“They’re hailing us.”

-Lt Seamus O’Briain, CTO
