The Meridian Fleet Report - December 2021

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

How is your ship looking overall? Pretty good after some crew losses a few months ago. Sim has shifted into another direction. We regained some old players with Tyra and D returning. So its looking good. I am also being able to post more and that is helping. New CNS as well. Looking good ending the year and beginning a new one.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Really all posting was great. However for me its the return post of Tyra as the CIO, Toro. Really a great writing post.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Get a CE and another pilot or two. I really think the pilot roles are not seen as attractive in STF and in fact I give these roles the greatest latitude. I envision them as BSG kinda roles and would love some players to join nd run with it that direction.

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? We’ve be hit by the holiday bug, but actually, post rate seem to be a little better. It looks like we are wrapping this sim up, but maybe there is another twist coming. The DH are posting alright.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No GM report.
Going to be working with Olinski this month to fill in necessary positions and fill in roster.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? I don’t know.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? If like to thank everyone for doing their best while I’m gone.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Myself.

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?December was a reasonably slower month with holidays and everyday obligations. Our DHs, however, did their best to stay active! We’ve seen limited progression in our current SIM, but they’ve gotten involved in sideSIMs around the Chernov… including some obligatory (but not entirely ‘fun’) inspections.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We saw a boost in JO activity this month with the return of two writers! Some are engaging Chernov‘s experimental psychology programme, while others are partying or endeavouring an unusual case with a disoriented Andorian.

Who is the shining star this month? Leonora V plays our counsellor Dr Kanina Dran, who is working to establish a permanent mental healthcare presence aboard starships like the Chernov. I’ve greatly enjoyed reading her interactions with the crew as a provider, mediator, and comrade. She’s a warm, complex character with an outstanding writer and I’m excited to see what the future holds!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: CO absent most of the month… no report.
No GM

Working with Chernov this month to fill in missing roles and find them a GM first and foremost.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Jerome Davis

How is your ship looking overall? Pretty solid in general. The holidays are tough basically every year and with the complications from the stress of COVID affecting many RL, this year is comparable to the previous one. Hopefully, we will see the ship (society) righted in 2022 and things can slowly return to normal!

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? This entire thread ( https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/odin/posts/161703/ ) has been so much fun because for a new CO to the ship, it has given me a solid insight into the Command Team and has me REALLY looking forward to the sim ahead.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Move into the main sim. Timing-wise, the start of sim was early December… which, as an experienced CO, I should have pumped the brakes on. It led to a bit of a sluggish start to Kenson’s story. I look forward to getting things back on the rails this month!

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No XO or GM report…

Working with Odin to make sure all vacancies are filled and help with posting suggestions where things lag.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: No CO or XO report.
GM excused for COVID

Will be working with Saracen to get things up to speed and back on track.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: On the sentinel things have slowed a wee bit, again mainly I think to the holiday relaxation. But all three landing teams are on the mysterious planet and have begun to spread out in their respective areas to look for the origins of the mysterious warp blip that had drawn them here. Meanwhile on the ship those left behind are keeping in orbit and attempting to study what they can about the Abyss around them.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: CO excused on LOA
No XO report.

Will be working with Sentinel to bring things up to speed and get them back on track.

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? Over all Viking is doing well. Our posts was very active the beginning of the month, but slowed down as the holiday got closer. The crew has been very active in letting us know if they would be away or posting sporadically during the holidays. I find this a good sign. A change in posting was expected and can be hard to bounce back from, but I am optimistic that posting will pick back up during January since the crew is still involved even if they aren’t able to post at the moment. I look forward to what the new year is going to bring to Viking.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? First I have to give to list Jason, my amazing XO. He’s taken over the running of our sim so we can finish it out and have a nice solid conclusion. I simply can’t list all the posts he’s made toward our story. However this summery post he keeps up to date is SO worth the look. Not only does he give a great summary for each department/team, anything that should be common knowledge for the whole crew he keeps here. Like ‘visions’ and computer data dumps that we have access to.
First: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/159919/
Current: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/161220/

Then our new doctor Mike Jones (played by Bob Spicer) has been dumped into the thick of it and his posts are just AMAZING. Our XO Cmdr Kohr has been rendered unconscious and Dr. Jones’ bedside encouragement just leaves me in stitches every time I read it (Not to mention everything else Bob writes for Mike is simply outstanding): https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/160942/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. For this coming month I want to work on getting everyone back in the groove of posting and being involved in the main sim. The holidays always does something different to our desire/need/time to post.

Executive Officer: Jason Wolfe

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? All department heads have been active and posting within their normal limits, aside from a few bouts of writer’s block and confusion. Overall, the team is working quite well!

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our new junior officers are fitting into their new roles well, and are active in any relevant side sims.

Who is the shining star this month? Bob Spicer’s got my nomination for this month’s rising star for his character work as Ensign Mike Jones. He’s been an active voice in our narrative since joining and has helped to keep things moving right along. It’s been great to have another active and engaged writer on the team. Nice work, Bob!

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: I’m not the GM of this ship.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Already in talks with CO and XO about getting GM for the ship and filling in spots. Also they want to focus on the MOTD and identity for the ship this month.

This month proved that being ‘pestered’ about reports is going to be necessary. Many Captains said they are not happy with being given notifications several times between the 1st and 9th of the month. I will be sending out reminders on the 1st, and pokes on the 5th. On the 7th missing reports will be given one more poke. Next month’s Fleet Report will be more full and productive.

I am asking each ship three questions this month and will be discussing them with each CO/XO/GM team.
1) What is the IDENTITY of your ship? (Its purpose… battlecruiser, first contact, science exploration…?)
2) What are your goals for the ship this term? (MOTD, sim expectations, roll sheet status…?)
3) What do you expect from me this term? (How can I best help you)

These will be mentioned in following Fleet reports as well.
