The Meridian Fleet Report - February 2022

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: Sidney Parker

How is your ship looking overall? Good but the sim seemed to stall and its overall direction was not as clear as before. As such it seemed we lost some interest. However there is some side sims happening and the lower posting may just be a natural lull as well.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Honestly nothing that stands out this month.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Engagement by all players. I saw some players really trying and others not participating. That has to fall on me for not doing enough so I will work on correcting that.

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We seem to have a slow posting DH wave this month. We have a real AWOL with one, which might need some pruning. I’ll have to send out e-mail reminder to a couple of them to get them back on the beam.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Olinski had encountered some Breen fighters attacking a large never been seen before Tholian ship. The Tholians were in trouble and the Olinski decided to help them out, in so doing, the Breen implied that the Federation had declared war on the Breen. After speaking with the Tholians, the Federation and Tholians decided to have a temporary alliance to repel a Breen force detected to be heading towards Federation space.

The Tholian-Starfleet ships defeat the Breen and captured some of the Breen forces, which turns out to be Xindi reptiles in disguise.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: The sim is slow and there are a couple AWOL, but the Command Staff has it in hand.
Will work with CO, XO and GM this month to see how we can pick up posting speeds and reinitiate interest.

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is doing fantastic! It has new vigour and so far we’re keeping up with it! We’ve rapped up the Romulan battle and are now on our way to Risa for vacation. But this is Starfleet so something will ruin our stay. The Captain and some others are going to go deep sea fishing to kill a giant squid.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? All of them so far. I know it sounds like a cop out, but we all do great posts and writing.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.More posts
Get a GM
Get a CE
Get more Jo’s
Get Command off our backs
Have more fun!

Executive Officer: Trinity Fister

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We had a few LOAs and AWOLs at the start of the month, but activity has boosted since then. Our interim sim concluded, encouraging many to start or join side threads. We’ve seen everything from casual shifts to characters grappling with inner conflicts. It’s been a delight watching their character grow, and I’m excited to see where they take their stories.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Foremost, I’d like to extend a big congratulations to James Gray, whose character was promoted to Lt. (j.g.) this month!

We currently have an AWOL and another coming off an extended LOA, but most are staying consistent in their posting. Like the DHs, we also saw a boost in JO involvement in character building threads toward the latter half of the month. I’m hoping the introduction of new storylines will facilitate activity in the coming months.

Who is the shining star this month? Richard A plays Kastarak, a Vulcan physician specialising in interspecies emergency medicine. He’s been a tremendous contributor to SIMs around the Chernov, dappling in everything from late-night confessions to injuries in the gym and tackling a mysterious virus. I am endlessly impressed by Ric’s prose and his approach to the nuance in Vulcan behaviour. I look forward to reading more of his stories!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Working to keep Chernov from being decommissioned is still highest priority. Will be working to fill vacancies and get ship the rest of the way to “good to go”.

USS Odin

Commanding Officer: Jerome Davis

How is your ship looking overall? Overall the Odin is doing fairly well with a handful of AWOLs that pop up from time to time, though I think most of those are due to the fact that we’re a slow speed ship and on longer threads… people forget.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? “Large honkin’ space guns” https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/odin/posts/165924/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I want to address the vacancies in DH and bring on a few more Jos

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Odin as been sent to help in a crisis on Tammoron, the producer of Tammoron grain, a food source. There are three factions and they are at odds with each other regarding how the grain should be traded. The Odin has just discovered a spy satellite that provides certain clues.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: The Command staff is keeping up on AWOL and we will work on vacancies and see how to pick up the posting regularity.

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: GM on LOA
Unsure about others who said they’d post. Will work with Command to get things back on track.

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Matt Bongiorno

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is improving based off of last month. We have one AWOL, one on LoA, and two returning from LoAs shortly. I have brought in one recruit who is finishing up their character arc, they are currently listed as invisible until their profile is approved. I have another potential recruit who is also working on their character arc. The Sentinel will now have two new authors coming in for the month of March. I look forward to them joining us and seeing the ship grow. The main sim is moving along slowly and we look to pick that up this month.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? My favorite part of the Sentinel this month is the main sim. Rob is running a wonderful storyline as GM.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Pick up participation as a whole in the main sim and side sims.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Sentinel has been a slow slog to move things ahead sim wise. All three teams on the planet though have made a bit of progress which I am happy for, though I would like to see more of the ship’s players get involved where they should be. That said the team in Krezk has been talking to the local religious cult and learning more about things in that area. Those in the Valiki team have decided to investigate the strange fiery explosion near the town, having found a clearing with strange footprints and a perfect circles burn area that leads to a nearby cave. The team near Barovia Village has it seems met up with some strange gypsy like folks local to the region who are heading into the village proper. They have agreed to ride shotgun with the wagons to make their own trip into it easier. Ship side the team there is investigating the Abyss locally and engineering is attempting to track down the strange energy drain on the ship

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Sim going well. Ship in relatively good health. Will work with Command to see how we can improve posting and other issues they may need seen to.

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: Jennifer Ward

How is your ship looking overall? The Viking is doing well. We continue to move forward with our sim, and it appears that soon we will be done. We have had major struggles with AWOLs this month and multiple LOAs as well. Real life seems to be hitting the Viking hard, but we are a steady strong group of writers and I’m certain things will even out.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Nathan Derricutt has joined the crew with a very interesting new character and custom race. I can’t wait to see how KT-QT (his new engineer) takes to the crew and adjusts.
His check in with the CO and XO is proving to be most enlightening. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf5/viking/posts/166583/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We’ve had several AWOLs this month. Real life has really hit the Viking this month and I’m hoping to get everyone back into posting. We are also still working on recruiting. We are in need of junior officers in all departments.

Executive Officer: Jason Wolfe

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? We’ve had some problems with AWOLs this month sadly, but most are due to real life issues and have been tended to as best we can manage. Those participating are giving it their all, and we’re very pleased with the progress we’ve made!

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? With a little extra care and attention, our junior officers are participating to the best of their ability. As we’ve taken them on this close to the end of the main sim, it’s understandable why they might struggle to find their footing and we’re working with them to keep them active as best we can. Overall, everyone is posting and participating in some form or another, digging into their characters!

Who is the shining star this month? With all the attention I’ve had to give to the main sim, as well as personal struggles going on, I’ve unfortunately not had the focus to consider my nomination for this month’s shining star. I will say that I have been very happy with the level of participation and support my team has given one another, and I’m proud of the developments we’ve made in our narrative. None of our active members should feel any less proud in their efforts, and I’m eager to see where we will find ourselves—and our ship—in the month to come. Great job, everyone!

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Working to finish up sim so new GM can come aboard and take over. Hoping to make that happen soon. Will work with Command to see how we can fill open holes in ship roster.

The ships are running pretty well considering AWOL and LOAs are hitting the whole site. Sims are rolling and Command is aware of vacancies. Going to work with all ships this month to fill holes and hopefully get rosters cleaned back up and filled.

No nominations this month for awards.

....
My mistake, one award nomination

Nathan Derricutt on Viking for new character KT-QT
