As soon as they materialized, Th’elin pulled his communicator and opened it. =/\=Ivo, we’re at the Mine Entrance, we’re coming in now. Status?/=/\= He kept his voice calm and even, but was already moving into the Mine, with a quick nod to the security men. He motioned for Doc and Ovik to follow closely, not closing the comm box.

-Zarath, CO

Ivo heard the repeating boop boop noise from his communicator. He stopped scanning with the tricorder and let hang from the strap across his shoulder as he flipped open the communicator and heard the Captain’s voice come through.

The elevator shuttered a moment, then began its slow progress up. Within a long moment the car reached their level with a loud echoing ‘ding’ followed by a primitive gender neutral computer voice of =/\= All miners, please wear your hard hats from here on out =/\= It stated. It was clearly one of those older early 23rd century computers interfaces used now for civilian service in simple roles like this.

GM CockRoach

“Primitive,” the engineering chief commented as she studied what she could see of the elevator’s mechanisms. “But functional.” Then stepping into the elevator carriage and looking around for a ‘hard hat’, she waited for the XO to join her before pushing the button to descend.

There were still three florescent yellow hard hats with bright fusion powered cell lights on top hanging on a nearby rack next to the elevator.

=/\= We’re at the mine elevator, Captain, =/\= he said as he got on the elevator. =/\= Tricorder detects sixteen humanoids on the next level, moving further into the mine. Could be children that we’re looking for. We’re about to descend further to investigate. Should we wait for you?=/\=

– Ivo Cerny, XO/CSO

As Cerny’s message ended, Zareth’s communicator would be again, this with a message from the helmsman. =^=Captain, sensors have just picked up an incoming Orion blockade runner, just outside of weapons range. They haven’t shown any aggressive actions. . . yet. Nor have they hailed us. Your orders, sir?=^=

Black Wolf (Helm)

Th’elin cursed under his breath, and looked around the Mine entrance once, ending up looking at Doc before he answered either of the comm calls. =/\=Ivo, you and T’pria keep going, I’m sending Doc and Ovik to follow you. I’m returning to Sentinel, something’s come up. Find those kids fast and get somewhere safe and in range of transport. Zarath out./=/\= Then he tweaked a knob, hit a button and changed frequencies which caused the communicator to make several clicking and chirping sounds. Then he spoke to Blackwolf. =/\=Mr. Blackwolf, have me beamed aboard immediately, I’ll see you shortly. Keep clear of that ship for now but be ready to raise shields and power phasers, Zarath out./=/\=

The Captain looked at the Doctor and the Vulcan. “Go one, catch up to Ivo and T’pria. Do what you can to save those kids, I’ll make sure you’ve got a ride home before dinner.”

-Zarath, CO

=/\= NE Pops here sir. Stand by for transport =/\= He said a moment later the CO vanished from the planet’s surface and materialized a moment later on the Sentinel safely.

GM CockRoach

Although well aware that the Captain could not hear her, T’Pria illogically found herself nodding at Zarath’s request. Then she fell silent once again and waited for the elevator to complete its descent, an unfamiliar sensation of anxiety building in the pit of her stomach as they journeyed lower and lower…

With a shuttering grinding thud the elevator reached the bottom of the shaft. On the XO’s tricorder he would find hte passage split into three short corridors ahead. The left most one dead ended after 20 feet, the middle continued on for some distance, and the third went on for about 100 yards before opening into a larger cavern. Life signs showed the group of humanoids were heading in the direction of the cavern.

OOC: Bumping again

Her discomfort at being enclosed in such a small space increasing, T’Pria could not wait for the XO to determine their next direction and peered over his shoulder to see the tricorder readout for herself.

“I suggest that we take the third passageway, Commander,” she declared, then without further discussion she began to head in that direction, attempting to step as quietly as was possible in the cumbersome suit to avoid announcing their presence prematurely.
