The Captain held a hand up to quiet Wolf, but was thinking about the wording of the communication. As much as he didn’t like the idea of it, Mr. Wolf was sadly correct about most Orion contact with Federation worlds. There were honest traders, and it wasn’t unknown to find them in the sector, but it would be wise to amek duly sure before taking the vessel at it’s first word…
Amber frowned at Wolf’s comment and tapped a comment to his console. …Easy, Wolf… They can hear us like we hear them. This is the Captain’s call… If he bothered to turn around, he would see her smile and nod in reassurance she wasn’t mad, just warning him for his own sake.
Kohana nodded to her message and replied in kind. *Sorry. Was just thinking out loud. louder than I thought. . . *
Everyone had opinions about other races than their own. Many thought that way of humans as well. But she knew all races were different and one could easily believe the trade story as well as the fact it was a ruse. But till they knew otherwise, the Captain would have to make the call regardless of everyone’s personal opinions. For herself, the fact they had ‘specifics’ and not just ‘trade things’ was a bit of a plus on their end.

Here, Zarath turned to Amber and ran a finger across his throat to kill the outgoing signal momentarily.
“Have they made any other transmissions? Were they responded to?” He also looked at the Science NE. “Full scan, I want to know if anything looks off about our friends, and prepare the tractor beam just in case.”

There was no sign of other transmissions incoming or outgoing, not any responses. Scans of the ship mostly matched their story they were a ‘merchant’ ship on configuration the armaments while on the heavy side weren’t anything to concern the Sentinel about mostly off shot disruptors and older photon torpedo systems which were not armed. The shields were a more modern set and raised but otherwise nothing threatening. The language plating IDing the ship did confirm with the name given before as did the registry and ship IDs on comms. If they were here to cause trouble they were doing a poor job of it.

“Tractor beam is prepped, sir,” Kohana confirmed. “Ready to activate on your go, Captain. They’ve been here long enough to have attempted contact with the colony. If they’re trading, why haven’t they tried to do that? Or maybe they already know there’s no one down there to trade with anymore.”
