Ford furrowed his brows and drummed his pencil on the table. “Talk of ghosts from the constable and now rumors of rumors about unknown alien civilizations,” he grumbled. “What is going on down there?”

He tossed the pencil on his clipboard before he continued. “I can see why they requested help.” He turned to the XO. “Nobody knows what they’re doing.”

COS Ford

“Yep,” the XO acknowledged.

While the senior staff were discussing things a chirp came from the wall panel nearby.

=/\= NLt Billboo to the briefing room. ETA to Sigma III is 20 minutes, we picked up local comm traffic control to announce our arrival. Colony Administrator Charles Barkhouse is eager to have our landing party arrive and evaluate things. Did you want me to send any other kind of message replies? =/\= Billboo said.

“That is my signal to return to my station” said Banner as he got up to exit the room.

P.O. Banner

“The Captain didn’t dismiss anybody,” Commander Cerny said sharply enough to slice off all of the hair from Banner’s scalp.

“Excuse me, Commander, but I just assumed that the navigator should be at his station when we enter the system. I apologize for assuming that” he said in a dismissive tone as he sat back down.

P.O. Banner

The Captain made a small motion to Cerny to ease his XO a bit. No sense in making things tense…

At the announcement that an incoming comm had come in and Amber hadn’t caught it, she frowned. How had it not come to her console in the briefing room? She looked at her console again and frowned. A silent alert had come in about the comm but she had missed it during the inquiry. “Comms available in here as well, Captain if you wish to send a message, yourself.” She mentally berated herself for not having paid attention.

Amber Comms

“Thank you, Ms. Josen, but I’ll beam down with the Landing party. I think we’re going to want face to face discussion on this one.” Th’elin replied, nodding to his Comms officer in thanks.

“Make sure that the colonial administrator sends us beam down coordinates, Lieutenant,” Ivo suggested to Amber.

“You and I should probably be part of the landing party, Mr. Ford. I imagine you should also bring along several men from your department in case we decide to mount our own expedition further into the mine. I’m not sure who else we should bring and when.”

Ford nodded, looking back down at his clipboard. “I’ll take Bolurson, Smith, and a couple of others with us.” He looked back to the XO, pursing his lips. “Having you there for science will be good, and I think bringing Doc along would be good, in case we do find bodies.”

“Would you want to beam down as well, sir?” he asked the Captain.

– Ivo Cerny, XO/CSO

Th’elin grinned at Ivo. “I wouldn’t miss it. Am I becoming predictable then?” He replied.

Kohana slightly shook his head at the enlisted navigator. He had just committed a major protocol faux pas. Making a mental note to speak with Banner privately on the matter later. The helmsman returned his attention to the CO and first officer. “When we arrive, will you be wanting a geosynchronous orbit over the mining colony, sirs?”

COS Ford

OOC: Feel free to wrap up the briefing then, as well as define the party duties and who’s doing what/where thank you! Any questions please ask! Glad to hear too our CO is coming back!

GM CockRoach

Amber made sure the coordinates would be available for any party wishing them. She then sent a message saying the Captain would be with them shortly and they were not being ignored. Her usual protocol and politically correct terms and tone would make those waiting feel they were indeed special and the Captain was being drawn away from something important just to speak back with them. It was a talent that had earned her the place on the ship and one she relished using because it helped keep the peace in tense situations… usually.

(“please hold and the next CO will be with you shortly)

“If there are no other concerns or questions, I think we can dismiss this briefing and prepare for debarkation.” The Captain announced, looking around. His antennae curled slightly as he took a final sip of bitter coffee.
