”..Fair enough, that would be the secondary solar panel generators to the south side of the colony proper. If you folks would follow me we can go now, long as you don’t mind getting wet from that storm raging outside.” He said inclined his head to the window where rain pelted the frame.

Cleolet looked at the window and shrugged “A little rain never hurt anyone. Besides we’ll dry off” she said as she thought about what Charles had said “I think you might have just started narrowing down the problem” she said simply “It’s not a problem with the main reactor then. Otherwise the solar panel would be unaffected. perhaps it’s some sort of energy drain” she said as she started thinking to herself.

”..If it is so far our scans and on hands analysis don’t show anything. Though I’ll be the first to admit our scanners are the sort in use over 20 years ago. So there could be things we’re missing..” He said.

Rand followed them outside but stopped in the hallway to answer her com.

Meanwhile a chirp chirp came from Rand’s communicator. =/\= NE Barney here, got those scan results for you all. =/\= He said.

Once a tricorder was setup to receive the information soon flowed through. Life sign scans of the nearby mines picked up 8 humans outside its perimeter likely on security duty from the colony. Inside the mines down to a depth of 1.5 miles picked up no life signs. Further scans from depth were sketchy due to the composites of the depositing minerals in the mines. Chemical analysis came up clean of any obviously known gases or the like. The oxygen in the mine was fairly stable, and fresh circulated by the internal tunnels and rebreathers for life support in the mines which still fed power from the colony site. Geological scans reported high rich dilithium and lithium deposits as well as quartz, and other lesser minerals in various quantities. All in all a quite rich mine all things considered. How said mine and tunnels swallowed up almost 30 some people by now remained a mystery they would have to delve into further on foot.

=/\= Also we only got 5 type-3 phaser rifles, we’re a ship of exploration not war after all. Those will be beamed down in a minute or two. =/\= Barney went on then.

=C=Understood Barney. My error, I shall correct my notes.=C= In fact Rand had no idea how many they had, she didn’t have the security clearance for that. She just assumed Ford would want one per officer, and if not the others could be beamed back. But now she knew how many and she’d not miscount again.

Sure to his word a whine of the transporter was heard and five Type-3 phaser rifles appeared in plastic shipping boxes ready for use.

=C=Package received Sentinel. Landing party out.=C= Rand flipped her communicator closed and replaced it on her belt.

“Lt Fordham, your rifles are arriving…there.” She pointed off to the left where the box appeared. Then she approached Lt Cmdr Alden. “Cmdr I have the scan results you wanted.” She flipped open her tricorder, connecting a wire to a port on his and transferred the results of the scans so he could examine them at will. Once finished she disconnected the two devices and walked back over to Ford. “Lt would you care to see the scan results as well?” Ford didn’t have a tricorder with him so she’d have to let him use hers for the moment.

Yeoman Rand

“Thank you, Yeoman,” said Roman, reading the scans as soon as they transferred to his own device.

Ford immediately opened the packing box and began handing out the rifles to the security officers - Smith, Siruk, and Bolurson. He kept one for himself, slung over his shoulder, and hefted the last one, turning to Alden. “You want this, Commander, or should I give it to Anderson?”

“I’d be happy to have it, Lieutenant,” said Roman, accepting the last rifle.

After handing over the last rifle he nodded to Rand, accepting her tricorder. He flipped through the readings, humming to himself. “Mister Bor, do your miners, or the constables who went down after, usually bring any environmental gear with them? Supplementary oxygen, that sort of thing? How extensive is the rebreather system down there?” He didn’t want them to accidentally end up in a situation where they would be without the necessary air.

COS Ford

Charles filled in for Bor since the door to the office was now shut, “..The miners and search groups both went with standard environmental breather masks, as well as having station posts every half a kilometer or so for emergency shelters as per procedures. As for the rebreathers of the mine themselves? They were up till all this trouble started fine to my knowledge.” Charles said.

Cleolet listened to the conversation as she walked. If she was right the others could be in danger, as if it was power drain, even if they had a fantastic system it could still fail. Maybe they should have some EV suits beamed down just in case. She’d make her suggestion later. For now she was content to listen to the others after all it might come up in conversation.

Ensign Cleolet (Engineer)

Having examined the scans, Roman read out the results. “No life signs besides the security team to a depth of 1.5 miles. No obvious gases or anything else dangerous,” he said. “I’m no geologist but this is quite a rich mine. And no clues as to where the crew went, or what happened to them.”

~ Lt Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

Leading the group then down the hall, they soon came back out into the open, heavy rain pelting their uniforms quickly to be soaked. The group would end up trudging down three blocks past some hurrying colonists carrying bags of goods from a shop nearby, before they rounded a corner and came upon the collection of solar batteries and generator collectors. Higher up the hill were spinning wind farms to boot. Taking shelter inside a maintenance shed Charles turned to the landing party. “..Feel free to take your scans and poke around, or run diagnostics if you want. I’m going to hunker down in here to dry up a little before we move on to where ever you want to go next.” he said.

With Alden taking the last Rifle, Anderson wasn’t entirely sure what to do, so he peered over the man’s shoulder at the scanner results. The rain wasn’t a lot of fun, and he wiped off his shoulders, trying to get a little drier.

Anderson, Sec/Sci

And right about that time the comm officer would speak up, “In comming contact from the landing party, Captain.”
=C=Yeoman Rand to Sentinel. There have been some unidentified disturbances (OOC or if they were I can’t find what they were called. Please correct me if so) that is knocking the power systems out. We are proceeding to the solar power collectors to examine them before heading towards the mines.=C= She wasn’t sure what else Ford would want relayed over open comms, and she they already knew a great many people were missing so that was not anything to report. =C= Other than heavy rain the landing party is intact.” An idea.... “We could use some all weather gear and some rebreathers. The colony may not have enough extras for when we get to the mine. Simply precautionary.=C=
