To say that E’usah was excited was a gross understatement, she was literally bouncing on the balls of her clawed feet as she stepped down from the transporter pad. This was her first assignment straight out of the academy and she was anxious to get started. She nearly headed into the passageway without her small carryall. She quickly ran back and grabbed it with her tail and transferred it to her left hand. She saw the transporter operator standing behind his console, “Excuse me, but where should I go first ?” The NE transporter chief looked up from his console, thinking <New Ensigns, she'll probably get lost and we'll never see her again> He stared at her for a moment, not noticing before the catlike features and the long tail, “Sorry Ma’am, you should probably head to medical first then to where ever they direct you from there.” E’usah tried to smile, but Caitian dentition made it look more like a snarl, “Thank you so much.” Her voice was soft with the purring lisp so common to her kind. She nearly ran out into the passageway, then realized she had no idea where medical was, she flagged down an approaching crewmember, “Excuse me............?”
The Transporter Chief merely shrugged his shoulders as the long tail disappeared around the corner and the door slid shut with a gentle hiss.

E’usah - Future Navigator

Rand came sliding into the transporter room and the chief just smirked. Rand was never late, but they had her hopping non stop lately. “Ah En E’usah! So sorry for being late. En Farquharson, captain and ship’s Yeoman. You can call me Rand. Welcome aboard.” She held out her hand, “If you’d like let’s get you settled. I just need you to sign here first.” She held out the PaDD and stylus, “Paperwork, it keeps the brass happy. All this says is that you safely arrived on board.” Then she passed over a computer data disk. “This includes your duty roster, your check-in meetings, a map of the ship, and other important information. Shall we go see your quarters first?”

Yeoman Rand

E’usah took the proferred hand and shook it gently, careful to keep her claws fully retracted, “Glad to meet you Rand”. She took the PaDD and quickly signed her short name. Handing the PaDD and stylus back, “I’d love to see my quarters, do you have any idea what our mission is, are you allowed to tell, what’s the Captain like ?” E’usah realized she was rambling and sat her carryall down, “I’m sorry Rand, it’s just this is my first assignment, and I’m so anxious to get started and want to do a really good job.” E’usah hoped that she and Rand could be friends and worried that she had offended her in some way with her nervous exuberance.

Ens. E’usah (the ever bubbly)

Rand smiled shaking her hand. It would be nice to have a friend and she recognized the nervousness. Rand carried that with her all the time. It was the strict protocol of her position and being in the service that really helped her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. Don’t worry about nerves. They will settle soon enough.” She offered with a smile.
“Everyone has been new at one time. Myself and our head nurse only arrived on board at Sentinel’s launching a few months ago. We’re fresh out of the Academy too. Let’s go this way. Your quarters are on deck 5 with the other junior officers. You also share that deck with the security department, so don’t be alarmed when you see them constantly. Turbolifts are in the center of the ship in a ring, and there are five. All five reach all the decks.”

“Seems like you’re always around when folks show up, eh Rand?” a voice spoke from nearby, a young woman walking into the scene. She winked at the yeoman, then smiled charmingly at E’usah. “Name’s Quinn. I’m sure Rand is super-duper busy, so I can show you around instead so she can get back to all her Yeoman duties.” Quinn leaned against the wall and looked at Rand expectantly, waiting for her answer. She took a moment to look over E’usah as well, a small tinge in the back of her mind. She looked… familiar. “Wait a second. E’usah?? I know you!”

E’usah. Of course. She’d been in the same year at the Academy.

Quinn Dagget

“It’s my job Ensign Dagget, to greet all the new crew who comes on board.” She didn’t smile or share a wink with Dagget. Rand hated social situations, but push her about her job and try to make less of what she did and her Scottish temper would come out. She was damn good at her job, and it wasn’t Dagget’s job to tell her what it was. “No I’m not too busy to do my job. I’m doing it right now.” Her voice was composed her posture professional, and she hoped Dagget didn’t push. She might have grown up outside of the Federation, but she was in it now. After the very quick exchange with Dagget she turned back to E’usah. “The general mission of Sentinel is Survey, analysis, and cataloging of anomalies and uncharted systems, Planetary and astrological event response, Discovery and survey of new life and civilizations, System and border patrols, Anti-piracy/raider combat roles, General cargo resupply, Emergency relief efforts. But right now we are just on patrol while we await our next mission. Cpt Rogers is fairly new. One of the few female captains in the fleet. She’s very strict to protocol on duty, but fair and really about training and helping her crew advance their careers. She’s only been on board a week, so I don’t know much more than that. She doesn’t even have a favorite breakfast yet.” Rand offered. “She’s easy to talk to as well. She really listens to all her crew.”

Yeoman Rand

At the mention of anti-piracy/raider combat roles, Quinn hid her reaction, realizing she might not be as far away from her father as she’d thought. Staships like this blew up small ships like the Wake all the time under the guise of protecting people. No. No. The Wake wouldn’t go anywhere near a ship like this. Dad and his crew would be safe.

OOC: fixing split again!!

IC: E’usah looked at the tall newcomer for a second, “Quinn, I remember you, you were having some trouble with the science courses back at the academy and they assigned me to tutor you.” E’usah ran over to Quinn and grabbed her hands excitedly, “It’s good to see you, how have you been, anything exciting happen ?” E’usah realized she was rambling again, but this was great, she and Quinn had developed a casual friendship back at the academy, and it was good to see someone she knew. Turning back to Rand, “If you don’t mind I would love for Quinn to show me around, Stellar Nav. classes don’t leave much time for socializing, and I haven’t seen her in a while. Maybe we could all meet later for a beverage of your choice ?”

E’usah - NAV

“Oh my god, that’s right!” Quinn grinned widely, pulling the Caitian into a quick hug before pulling away. She’d somewhat latched onto the younger Cadet when they’d been assigned together for the science tutoring. “This is amazing, I’m so glad we’re going to be working together. There’s so much energy on this ship it’s incredible!”

The question caused a simple shrug from the Helmsman. “Not much. Spent a couple years as a shuttle pilot and that was pretty dull. They just go down and up and down and up and nothing else. Don’t even know why they needed a Starfleet Officer for that job. But now I’m the Main Helmsman on a whole ship!! Wait a sec, wouldn’t that make you Nav? That’s what you were studying, right? Great Bird, that means we’ll literally be working right next to one another on the bridge!” Quinn jumped in the air, excited.

She then turned to Rand. “Come on, Rand, I’ve told ya to just call me Quinn. You introduce yourself by your first name, least you could do is return the favour, love,” Quinn complained, giving the Yeoman a pleading expression. “And I can give E’usah a good tour, I’ve been on the ship long as the Captain has. I promise, I’ll get her to sickbay in under an hour!”
