E’usah nervously stood outside the door to the quarters where she hoped Rand currently was. Raising her hand she slightly extended the claw on her index finger and pressed the chime. “Rand, it’s E’usah, could we please talk ?” She dropped her hand to her side and waited expectantly, her tail doing nervous little swishes from side to side.

E’usah - ISU (I screwed up)

Rand glanced at Randy, looking dejected and whispered anxiously to him. “Chan eil mi airson bruidhinn. Carson a tha i shuas an seo? Chuir Dagget a-steach gun dèan i an turas, ghabh E’usah ris. Bha coltas gu math snog oirre agus cha robh gnothach aice ris. Dè? Tha mi ga fhaighinn, tha iad nan caraidean. Chan eil dad ri bruidhinn.” Knowing E’usah was Catian and had good hearing Rand had whispered in Gaelic for her own privacy. But she got up and washed her face where she’d been crying and took a long drink if the coffee Randy had given her. She knew she had to answer the door. If she let Randy, his big brother mode would turn in and there would be trouble.

The door slid open and Rand looked up at E’usah. “What can I do for you En E’usah?”

Yeoman Rand

OOC: Actually you’d be looking down at her, she’s 6 inches shorter than you. (He, He)

Oops sorry. I read the height wrong. And she wouldn’t get anger at all. Anxiety, nervousness, sadness, anything along those lines. In extreme amounts.

E’usah looked at Rand and from the look on her face and the pheromones she was giving off could tell that she was both angry and had been crying. “Please, just hear me out. Rand I am so sorry, I owe you a big apology,.... I should have let you show me around. When I was at the academy my course of study didn’t leave much time for friends, I was assigned as a tutor to Quinn to help her with the science courses and we became friends.” as she said this she was looking down and her tail was just hanging there dejectedly. “I was so excited to see her again, I let my excitement get away.” (Deep sigh) “I want us to be friends, I never meant to hurt you, please forgive me.” E’usah stood there, hoping against hope that the potential friendship could be mended, sadness washed over her and a tear ran down the blonde fur from the corner of her eye.

E’usah - NAV

Rand just stood there, heart rate increasing as well as her respiration. Flared nostrils and constricted pupils. She turned back around to look at Randy helplessly. It wasn’t E’usah’s fault. Not in anyway....Rand had no idea what to say or do. She didn’t make friends. Not for a lack of wanting to or even pitiful attempts at it. She was just too awkward. Work was easier.

Yeoman Rand

E’usah stood there in the awkward silence for several seconds then just stepped up and hugged Rand. “I think you needed that’ she said softly. “If you don’t want to be friends, that’s fine,.....I just wanted you to know that I was sorry for earlier, and if you ever need someone to talk to or just share a cup of coffee, I’m available.” With that E’usah turned and began walking away, her claws making a slight clicking noise on the decking, after a few steps she turned and saw Rand still standing in the door with a can of Cheese-Wiz grasped in one hand.

E’usah - NAV

Rand was too shocked at someone stepping into her personal space and then hugging her to react other than to stare. With a nudge from Randy, who took her cheeze whiz, and Cmdr Alden’s words still ringing in her ears, she stepped out the door. She wanted to beg Randy to go with her, but she knew he wouldn’t. He’d do just about anything for her, but she had to find a way to function competently and deal with people and crew if she wanted to stay on board. But she could still hope.

E’usha’s lack of a bag told her she had been to her quarters. “Come on, we’ll start with the bridge and your duty station. Then we’ll see the rest of the ship.” She tugged at her sleeves and straightened her uniform, brushing non-existent lint from it.

Yeoman Rand

E’usah practically jumped for joy, “Thank you Rand, and please forgive my bad manners earlier.” As they proceeded down the passageway toward the turbolift E’usah’s insatiable curiosity got the better of her. “Was that your brother in your quarters ? I couldn’t help but notice the resemblance. Are you twins ? He seemed really nice.” E’usah realized she was rambling again and mentally told herself to “Just shut up!” She also began to worry that she had hurt Quinn’s feelings somehow too.

E’usah - NAV

Rand shook her head as she walked, “You don’t need to apologize. You just wanted to spend time with your friend. It is part of my duties to conduct the tour and my job to make sure it is done. En Dagget can not relieve me of that duty, only Cot Rogers or Lt Cmdr Alden can.” Though Rand had tried to do that politely and Dagget had still dismissed her. She wasn’t sure how else she could have made it clear without being a total @$$ about it. And that wasn’t Rand. She was capable if necessary, but it shouldn’t have been. And now she was in trouble with Alden.

Rand nodded at her next question. “Yes, that was Randy. He’s my twin and older by 2 minutes. Randy is amazing and great with people. He’s head nurse now. He also is an amazing counselor. He’s wicked on the bagpipes, and if you tell him his legs look better than mine in the uniform dress you’ll make his year.” Rand obviously adored her brother. It was probably the only personal topic she would freely discuss.

Entering the lift she grabbed a handle and twisted, “Deck 1.” As the lift started moving, “Sentinel is fairly new and so engineering is still working out the kinks. She has five turbolift a around the center of the ship. The maintenance log is posted every morning and can be accessed from your computer console in your quarters. At least one is down everyday. You can also get between decks using the access ladders found to the right of each deck.”

The doors opened and they stepped into the bridge. “Welcome to the bridge, En E’usah. Your station is there.” Rand pointed to the port side seat in the central depression of the bridge just in front of the Captain’s chair. “NE Travis has been filling in, he’s from stellar cartography. Take your time.” Rand stepped to the side of the lift door and waited while E’usah looked around the bridge.

Yeoman Rand

E’Usah stepped down and walked up to the console and chair, she sat down and ran her hands gently across the console, careful to not activate anything. For the next five years this would be her station. She sat there for a moment then rose and quietly walked around the bridge stopping at each station to briefly look at it. She approached Rand, back at the lift doors. “I’ll be doing a lot of coordinating with stellar cartography, so I should probably get to know the people there.” I’m sure it’s a beehive of activity here when everyone is on duty, but right now it’s kind of peaceful and serene, I think I’m going to enjoy working here.” One final look around then turning to Rand, “Where to next ?”

E’usah - NAV

Rand thought about it, “It can be very busy when we’re in the midst of a mission, but usually it’s fairly calm.” She stepped back on the lift and down to deck 2. “Next is deck 2. If you are on bridge duty these are the closest escape pods,” Rand took her around the starboard side so she would know exactly where they were and how to access them. “Alright now, deck 7. Auxiliary control is here, and you can control navigation from there if needs be.” Rand led her into a miniature version of the bridge.

Yeoman Rand

E’usah was enjoying the tour and mentally cataloging all the information Rand was telling her as well as taking notes on her PaaD. “Thank you Rand, for showing me around. I know that you can look all this stuff up in the computer, but it seems to make more sense and to stick better in my mind to actually see and hear it explained.” The Auxiliary bridge Nav station was indeed a smaller version of the one on the main bridge, just scaled to fit the smaller space. ” What’s next on the tour. Would you like to stop in the lounge for a tea or coffee, or isn’t that part of the tour ?”

E’usah - NAV

“That’s one reason all new crew get a tour. Alright, so next is Deck 8.” The lift took them down and stepping off, “So as far as of interest for you, that way is the emergency transporter room. And this way,” Rand turned aft, “is the gymnasium. It is equipped with a sparring ring for boxing/wrestling/fencing or other forms of hand to hand combat, and cardiovascular and weights machinery. We also use this area as an auditorium for small meetings or theatre performances. Whole crew gatherings happen in the shuttle bay.”

They then went to deck 11 to see stellar cartography since E’usah said that she would be working with them. That lab extended to deck 12 and they also passed by the shuttle bay.

“Alright our last stop is back up to deck 9. In the forward section of Deck 9 houses the Galley and Recreation hall. The Galley contains food synthesizers but also a working kitchen that is staffed with a cook for each shift. The Recreation hall has billiards, ping pong, board games, a few paper books, and a couple of musical instruments. The aft section of the deck contains all of the medical facilities.” Rand pulled a small necklace out from under her uniform, a silver owl charm that was actually a watch and gave the new ensign a smile. “You have about 15 minutes before your medical check in if you want to get coffee or tea.” Rand appreciated the invitation but she also knew she would be in serious trouble with Alden if E’usah was late for her medical exam.

Yeoman Rand

“Thank you so much for the tour Rand, I think I’d better run back to my quarters and freshen up a bit before reporting to medical, but I definitely want to get together for a drink later. Maybe you could talk your brother into joining us.” E’usah noticed the owl charm, “That’s cute, where did you get it.”

E’usah - NAV

Rand blinked, it wouldn’t be so bad if Randy went with her right? Randy was so good with people and he always knew how to help her navigate the nightmare that was socializing. “I’m sure Randy would love that. I…I’ll ask him.” She looked down at the necklace, “It was my grandmother’s, and it belonged to her grandmother before that. It’s really old, it’s been passed down through our family since that 2000s.”

Yeoman Rand

E’usah looked carefully at the small charm, “It’s beautifully made and a family heirloom as well, take good care of it. I have pictures of course and some things my parents have given me over the years, ....you’ll have to come by my quarters sometime and look at them.” E’usah checked the time display on her PaDD, “Better run, be in touch for that drink, and thank you again for the tour.” E’usah turned and trotted off, her claws clicking on the floor.
