Rand left Cpt Rogers and Lt Cmdr Alden and went directly to the closet that was the yeoman’s office. She complied all the information that each department needed and sent it out with priority and labelled “New Mission Objectives and Assignments from Cpt Rogers.”

General Mission Orders (All Departments)

Our destination is known as ‘The Abyss’ which is a massive stellar nebula that spans across several light years. The Exploration Command wants the Sentinel to be stationed in the area to study the nebula, seek out intelligent life, and find systems with potential resources that could be beneficial for Starfleet. At warp factor seven, we will arrive there in a week’s time. That will provide us with the opportunity to study the data that was recovered from the initial research probes during our trek there.

–The Abyss Survey Probe Data (All Departments)

Data has been uploaded to the ship’s central computer and is available for all department heads. Dissemination of information is up to each DH to assign as they see fit.

–The Abyss Effects On Ship Systems (Engineering)

study the Abyss nebula’s potential effects on the ship. Nebulas can be extremely tricky and dangerous if we are not on our ‘A’ game. I need them to be proactive in studying the potential effects of the nebula on the Sentinel’s systems and not reactive so that when we arrive we are adequately prepared to journey forward confidently into the Abyss.

Yeoman Rand

Cleolet read through the information, she was not keen on taking the ship through a nebula. there were nay number of things that could effect the ship and it systems. She needed to know more about the nebula. Calling on the computer she wanted to know everything Star fleet knew about the nebula. right down to its make up, if that information was available. She couldn’t prep if she didn’t know everything

Ensign Kovan ch’Sirhc saw the word nebula and knew they would be in for an interesting time. Nothing good ever came of travel through nebulas. Especially when the reason was “but it will cut a week off our travel time!” Especially then. No. Certainly then. Short cuts in space were always a bad idea. The Sentinel was no rickety out-of-date merchant vessel, but the moment any ship believes herself above common dangers was the day she explodes. Kovan made a request to the CE to be placed at core support (barring any encounters with alien life, at which point he will be expected to serve as a communications officer). His cited reason for the request: I’ve traveled upon dozens of space ships. I’ve been through nebulas. I know what to expect and know enough to handle what we didn’t expect.

As she worked Cleoelt got the request from Ch’Sirhc. He certainly was keen but could she really put him in a core role. the last thing she needed was to be in the middle of a huge problem only to lose one of the team, because they had to answer a call. She would have to think carefully about it.

Karl was lying on the floor under a diagnostic panel, occasionally a loud thunk and a swear could be heard, he looked up and saw several of the Officers walking about with purpose, apparently, they had received orders. He returned to his work “Anything fun come our way” He called out to no one in particular.

“I wouldn’t call nebulas fun,” Kovan answered dryly. “They’re traps for the unaware and overconfident.” Dust and ionized gases. New stars condense and expel jets of ionized gases at several hundreds miles per hour. To name a few hazards. This wasn’t the first nebula Kovan has traveled through, though he could hope this would be the least exciting one. Especially when compared to his last trip through a nebula. The merchant vessel he served upon was caught by a blast of radiation and lost nearly all system power. For three days Kovan and the rest of the crew battled to maintain what little power they had and bring their engine core back online. Three days of no sleep and little food. Yes. He very much wished this would be a smoother trip.

Ensign ch’Sirhc (COMMO, ENGR)

Karl laughed at that from under the console “That just means you haven’t had the right perspective. Nebulas do all sorts of nasty fun things to a ship’s engines, just imagine it, crawling through service ducts to clear out unrecognisable magic space dust. Like jogging through a sandstorm in the middle of summer. We’ll be clearing out the residue for months” He said in that unusually cheerful manner “Besides if we’re aware and just confident we’ll be fine”

Kovan blinked. Then he scowled. Of all the dumb things he’s heard today, that was the dumbest. On many levels. How does he even begin to formulate his reply? Which part does he scathingly and sarcastically give response too? There’s just so many different things he could address. In so many sardonic ways. Kovan decided to start with that last statement. “Yes, because history is full of people perfectly aware of danger and never overconfident. And so simple too! Why, we’ll be perfectly fine now with no issue.” He added his best eye-roll to follow that statement. Nothing spoke of contempt quite like an eye-roll.
