Main Sim - Bridge - Those Who Remain Behind

Quinn wandered over to the comms station, then back to her post at Helm. “What do you think they’re doing down there? Think it’s interesting?” she asked, glancing around from Cleolet to NE Willy. She didn’t have much to do while they waited, especially with autopilot taking over the basic helm duties for now. The Pilot markedly refused to look at the Nav Officer. She was still a little salty about E’usah setting in a course to weave around the asteroids when she knew as well as Quinn that it was the Helm officer’s job to do smaller scale ‘navigation’ like that. And what was the point of a Helm Officer if E’usah and the Auto-pilot did all the work? As much as she appreciated E’usah most of the time, she did feel like the woman was trying to do her job for her sometimes.

Dagget, Helm

E,usah sat quietly waiting to see what the decision would be. She glanced at Quinn who seemed to be pointedly ignoring her, she hoped she hadn’t done something to offend her. E’usah was just trying very hard to do her job, perhaps she tried too hard sometimes, she was a perfection freak and she knew that it put some people off. It was just her fear that if she made an error it could end up catastrophically for everyone. When you were dealing with warp displacement an error could place you emerging into a sun or a worm hole instead of open space. She would have to talk to Quinn and see what was bothering her, she didn’t have enough friends to risk losing one.

E’usah had heard that the CE was also a Caitian but hadn’t had the chance to meet her yet personally. As she awaited the CE’s decision on their position, she observed the acting Captain. Cleolet was very tall and slender compared to E’usah’s 5’ 2’‘, while E’usah wore her mane in a long braid, Cleolet wore hers close cropped and a bit spikey. E’usah considered other possibilities they might try, they could launch a probe equipped with a transporter array which could act as a relay of sorts. If any of the away teams need extraction while the Sentinel was exploring, the probe would relay them to the Sentinels location as long as they didn’t stray out of range. It was an idea, but E’usah kept it to herself, awaiting Cleolet’s decision, she didn’t want to seem too forward, beside Cleolet being an engineer had probably all ready considered something of the kind.

E’usah - NAV

Sounds of laughter emanated from the turbolift door as it slid open, quieting as two people exited the lift. One was a replacement Science NE, short and young the other was a tall man in his middle years wearing an Engineers uniform and marked as a Petty Officer. He winked at the officer that came with him, made a gesture with his hand that received a barely contained snort from the Science officer. Karl Jóhansson sauntered down towards the engineering station and replaced the NE there. He turned and nodded to Cleolet, who he gathered had the Conn “Chief Karl reporting for bridge duty Ma’am” He said with his familiar half-smile. He turned and looked over at the standing helm officer and the unmistakable tension there, noted it down in his head before sitting down and getting situated himself.

Generally speaking he disliked bridge duty, it was more busywork and less proper tinkering, but it was his turn and there was little he would do to change that.

SCPO Karl - Eng

E’usah noticed the two newcomers to the bridge nodded to them both in welcome. She had met neither one before, but she was new of course and hadn’t really had time for much socializing, it was a brief tour of the ship and then “duty calls”. She wished she had had the opportunity to get to meet a few more people before assuming her post, but their mission was imminent and a navigator was essential. She turned back to her console and checked positions of the away teams and their relation to the Sentinel and made a log entry. She was racking her mind trying to figure out what she had done that made Quinn so standoffish, finally she thought she had figured it out. “Quinn, the nav computer is having a hard time keeping up with dodging these asteroids and the deflectors are having to work overtime, how about some active flying and dodging for a while ?” She raised an eyebrow at the new Engineering SCPO and hoped he understood that she was in actuality making a peace offering,

E’usah - NAV

While the back and forth between the helm and nav station was going on, over at the engineering station on the bridge the console began to beep as Karl took his spot there.

Turning in the chair a whining and beeping continued unabated among the blinking lights and switches. Then finally Karl would focus and they could see that sensor array 2 on for the port dorsal side of the ship was reporting an energy leak on deck 6 just outside the ship’s lower primary cargo bay. The energy leak was minor, but it was having a 2.37% drop in power flow efficiency on all related systems in that area.

No sooner had this been taken in when there was a dull thumping along the hull nearby! Sounding like small pebbles hitting the hull. Over by the science station the NE there piped up, “..Ma’am, reporting quite fast micro meteorites bypassing our deflector screens. All this junk interference from the Abyss is causing our normal deflection process to be hampered by 40%, no damages though reported..” he said.
