Looking around they could tell this was a region more settled to habitation then elsewhere on scans. Clear evidence of primitive tool used tree logging was around them, stumps sticking up here and there showing clearly. Also in evidence were hunting trails by both humanoid and animal packs. They had three choices they could pursue for right now, one they could all go down the hill connecting to a east-west bound road that would lead into the lakeside village of Valiki and continue from there. Or two they could head a short distance south through the forests to the earlier indicated stone clearing where NE Charles had reported some kind of explosion had taken place not related to the warp signature that had drawn them here in the first place. Or three they could risk splitting up and do both!

Kovan blinked upon materializing upon the planet’s surface. For a moment there he could have sworn. . . he shook his head to clear his thoughts of that ghost sensation. Kovan got his bearings, taking in the forest, the signs of civilization and the hunting trails. “The stone clearing shouldn’t be far from our present location. We could go there first.”

Ensign ch’Sirhc, COMMO/ENGR

“Agreed.” said the CIO. “We should try and determine the cause of the explosion before the rain wipes away too much.”

Nkosenye, CIO

Roman nodded his agreement. “The explosion was my thought as well. The town will be there after we’ve investigated the explosion.”

Kovan glanced towards Yarwood, waiting to see if the medical officer would agree or argue to visit the town first.

Ensign ch’Sirhc
Alwyn looked back at Kovan and quickly nodded at him. The explosion was an evident priority, especially if some of the locals try to investigate around the area and tampered with any clues they might find.

As the second landing party stood around deciding what to do, distantly somewhere in the nearby mountainous forests a wolf howled in victory and the cry of some animal falling prey to it was heard, otherwise rain continued to beat down on them at a steady rate through the tree tops.

Nkosenye waited for several heartbeats and then wordlessly began walking in the direction of the explosion site.

Nkosenye, Intel
As the group start walking, Alwyn took his tricorder out of the pouch he was carrying and kept it under his cape while scanning for life signs. After hearing the wolf howl, he thought it might be a good idea to make a quick scan now. He reminded himself to do another one when they will arrive at the explosion site.

Doctor Alwyn Yarwood - Enseign

Roman headed in the direction of the explosion site with the team, waiting to pull his tricorder out until they got there. The last thing he wanted to do was risk someone seeing it. He was on alert to the sounds of local wildlife. It was his field of study, he’d love to look around but that wasn’t why they were here.
