Karl winked at the younger officer and started to get dressed “You know this was my favorite part of training, getting to walk on the hull of a giant spaceship with nothing but some magboots and a limited supply of breathable air keeping you alive, there is no up or down expect the directions you make” He spoke with genuine glee as he got dressed with the help of his fellow engineer.

Charles just shrugged as he finished putting the suit onto Karl and handing him the helm to secure onto his head. “..Alright everyone out of the bay! We’re going airless!” he shouted just in case anyone else was around or hidden.

A minute or two later Charles was the only one present by the bay door, over the helm’s comm line Charles spoke from the bay control room, =/\= Ok we’re ready to open the bay doors sir you ready?=/\= he asked.

=^=I’m ready=^= He said simply as he prepared himself to go.

As the doors silently hissed open the low level forcefield on the bay doors dropped as well leaving Karl free to maneuver however he wanted out onto the ship’s hull. If the scans were right though he hopefully would not have far to go, as the drain was just to the left of the bay door by a few feet or so.

Looking out into the vastness of the Abyss that surrounded the ship and the system they were in with the strange planet below. The orange-silver background tone seemed almost out of place and alien like to Karl’s senses. In particular was a deep primal fear as he gazed that way that somehow beyond any reasoning the mag boots keeping him safe on the ship’s hull wold suddenly stop working or worse work in reverse propelling him off into space. The other similar feeling was one of foreboding as he would look at the planet below. It was Class-M for sure obviously but there was again something primal warning him that in the pit of his stomach something felt off about the planet like the storms or fog banks he could see here and there were a danger itself. A place of evil.

But then the feelings passed as suddenly as they came and he was back to his senses to get to work.

Karl shook his head, he’d thought himself above such primal fear, or at least better at containing it. He double-checked that his tools were there then moved towards his destination. There was something wrong with that planet, usually, the feeling of standing on a ship’s hull filled him with excitement and childlike glee. Sure there was always that part of the mind that feared falling deep into space, but that planet… it was wrong. Again he shook himself and focused on locating what if anything was attached to the hull. He moved carefully and slowly, he had lost his fair share of tools due to mishandling in the suit and he didn’t know if he had time to go back for anything.
