As Paul would look around the room the only ‘questionable’ people that stood out was a pair of black-brown garbed figures who were in one corner about 50 some feet away. They had their backs to the wall of the tavern, and were quietly drinking something from their glasses. They seemed to both be male in stature, and at a rough look probably had some level of concealed weapons or some kind somewhere on their persons. Beyond this though most of the people present or walking around were just interacting or keeping to themselves.

Shirley sighed as her crew ordered food, they should have held off on the order. What if there was a price to pay for these goods and services that they were offering. This was what appeared to be a primitive culture compared to her own back on Earth, it was likely that they have some form of currency. Shirley gestured for her crew to hold off on ordering for a minute as she made eye contact with Katerina, “Question for you my dear. Are these meals free of charge? Because I don’t know about my friends here, but I am on a tight budget. Does the tavern expect us to do anything in return or is it on the house?” Shirley folded her arms comfortably and leaned back in her chair quite eager to hear the waitress answer her question.

Katerina nodded, as if such a question was strange and out of place, “..Um, yes obviously there is a cost?” She said, “..All the meals with the presented drinks are 8 silver, if you want any of the premium beer or wines, they range in price from 5 silver to 2 gold pieces..” she said.

Thankfully for the away team, each person had handful of copper, silver, and gold coins appropriate for the local exchanges.

Paul understood the captain’s reasons for her inquiry. He did not order anything he just was there to focus on safety for the captain and the others. He kept quiet as he again continued to scan the area for any possible trouble.

“We… we all come from families who are a bit tight on the ground when it comes to coin, but if there’s anything we can do to work for our meals, we would be happy to oblige.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Katerina just shrugged, “..Well so long as you got coin now, before I put the order in thats all that matters. I don’t think the chef or owner let’s people work off their meals or drink, so if you don’t have the coin now I’ll have to ask you to all leave?” She said.

“Could we speak with the owner, plead our case?” Marcus asked, doing his best to try and garner the sympathy vote from the young waitress.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Shirley waved her hand dismissively at the waitress in a casually manner, “Oh no worries, we have plenty of coin my dear. I was just wondering about the pricing was all. I assure you that there is nothing to worry about. I look forward to trying this place out, I am sure the food is lovely. What is the most popular item on the menu? I will try that.”

Shirley beamed at the waitress and looked to her crew, “Go on everyone, place your orders.”

Shirley took a side glance at Marcus, “I will cover the cost of your meal my friend. I know that you have had troubles in the job hunt recently. Plus that is what friends are for.” She winked at her Security officer playing the part well. She looked around the tavern to see if anything stood out in regards to the odd figures around her. She was attempting to find an anomaly of some sort, her eyes scanned the room, trying to find any tip so that she can move the mission along. She did not have time to dilly dally with eating all night. It was time for the crew to get on point.

David sighed lightly. He imagined the tavern was where they would find the easiest to come by information. He assumed the Captain had a plan beyond dashing out on the bill, but that he would leave to her unless she asked for his help. For the time being, he took an interest in what was happening around them, listening to the conversations of the other tables and patrons.
