Paul entered the medical bay it was strangely quiet. “Hello,??” he said to no one in particular. “I am Ensign Paul Knight New Jo Security. I am here for my medical evaluation?” Paul said calmly to the air. As he casually looked around the bay from the open doors.

“Hi! You’re welcome to step inside,” offered a sturdy, blueshirted person who knelt beside a crate aptly named ‘medical supplies’, “we don’t bite.” They rose and flicked invisible lint from their shoulder. “I’m Crewman Jarillo,” they extended a hand in a swift approach, “our doctors are currently busy… but we can get you situated. Right this way.”

Jarillo stepped aside and gestured toward an open biobed just across the room. “So,” they cleared their throat, “where did you transfer from?”

— NCrewman Jarillo

Paul listened to the crewman as he directed him where he needed to be. As he took a seat on the biobed. “It’s good that you don’t bite I don’t think I am ready for that. ” Paul said with a smile. Nice to meet you crewman jarillo I am with Paul.” he said politely. “thank you for taking the time to see me.” Paul said with a hint of concern. “I was just released from the academy. This is my first tour o duty,” paul stated sincerely.

“I don’t think I’m ready for that,” Jarillo chuckled through playful, gritted teeth. Reaching the biobed, they tugged the sheet taut and tapped the cushion for Paul to hop (or, given his comparatively staggering size, settle) on to. “First ship,” they whistled and rounded the biobed to recalibrate it to Paul’s biochemistry, “congrats! How are you feeling about the assignment?”

“I will find a doc to check you out in a second,” they said. Jarillo sensed the concern in Paul’s tone, but they weren’t sure whether it stemmed from the new surroundings or nerves about a new assignment or something totally different. “In the meantime, is there anything I can do to make this more comfortable for you?”

— NCrewman Jarillo

“I am doing fine crewman, I was just joking about the biting thing.” as paul smiled. “So far I am liking the assignment. Paul said with a sincere smile. As he took in the surroundings. “How do you like the ship and your assignment?” Paul asked.

“Good to know…” Jarillo wore an easy smile to hide their confusion. “Oh, I love it here! I’m a medical tech,” they jabbed a casual thumb at their insignia, “so I do lots bloodwork and vitals monitoring. Nothing too exciting, but I enjoy talking to patients… and, let me tell you, we have some interesting folks walk through those doors.”

Jarillo laughed as they checked Paul’s vitals (OOC: feel free to insert those here).

“I’m sure you’ve been asked this a million times,” they continued, “but why security?”

— NCrewman Jarillo, Med Tech

“Well? I am glad you are happy it never hurts to get others’ opinions of their work and surroundings.” Paul said calmly to the officer. “I bet you do get some interesting people coming here and cases.” Paul said sincerely to the officer. “As for Security, I figured I would be a good fit.” Kinda pointing to himself as he was rather a big guy. As He watched the officer do the scans he noticed the bio readings were normal for him. But he was not the doctor.

Jarillo nodded and made a note of Paul’s vitals before tucking the PaDD under their arm. They didn’t notice anything unusual but they were neither a doctor nor at liberty to say anything.

“I’m glad you’re with us, Ensign Knight.” They said when Paul remarked that security was a ‘good fit’. That suggested passion and, in their mind, passion was most essential to the job. “I believe the Doc should be done with her patient. I’ll go fetch her for you. In the meantime, make yourself comfortable.”

Jarillo vanished into the next room and a Vulcan woman emerged shortly after, carrying the PaDD with Knight’s medical file and vitals.

“Mr Knight?” She confirmed before setting the PaDD on the bedside table and shifting her full attention to him. “I am Doctor Haadok. I will be conducting your physical. How are you feeling?”

— NCrewman Jarillo and Haadok

“I am fine Doctor.” Paul said calmly to her. noting that she was Vulcan. “By all means, doctor proceed. I am here to serve.” Paul said politely to her noting he was in no rush or concerned in any way.

“Let’s begin with your medical history,” Haadok remarked. “I received your file, but it appears we have yet to upload all of your data to the LCARS. I would like to discuss those holes with you. What do you feel is critical we understand about you to ensure you receive treatment that suits your needs and desires?”

— Haadok, CMO

“Ok?? WHat are you wanting to know doctor? I want to be treated like any other member of the crew??” Paul said calmly to the officer. “Needs and desires??” Paul said with a more confused look on his face.

Haadok maintained an air of calm that did not betray the confusion creeping into her thoughts. “Allow me to rephrase,” she glanced away, “do you have any conditions or values that may influence how we approach your treatment? We have, for example, some crew who ask us not to regenerate scars or reset bones that didn’t heal properly for reasons deeply personal to them. Others have conditions that make certain procedures difficult or dangerous. Do either of these examples sound familiar to you?”

— Haadok

“No Doctor there is nothing special needed or required for my medical attention.” Paul said kindly to her. He was never a fan of scars or fighting over medical concerns. As long as he was alive and well, he had no issues. He thought to himself. “I trust you with your abilities and training to handle my care, Doctor.” Paul said with a polite smile.
