=/\= I trust we will have no trouble ensuring your right to remain in charge of your own colony, Lord Stevens. But the Federation has its protocols we must follow. I’m sure you understand. =/\= Roman said. His accent was perfect, spoken clearly with neat enunciation on his words in what would be called the King’s English. He smiled politely, he was really putting on his best manners for these colony leaders. He was familiar with their kind, the British nobility. It was the same as dealing with his own family to him.

They would only respond to his title and his ties to nobility and royalty. That was the best way to earn their respect. =/\= I am Sir Roman Alden, of the Alden estates, heir to the title of Duke of Salisbury, descendant of Henry II of England and Louis VII of France. I am also Commander and First Officer of this ship. = /\= Though it had been many years since Roman had used his entire, formal title and name, he had no trouble remembering it and said it as if it were the most important thing to him.

=/\= We look forward to meeting you outside your hall, Lord. I assure you, we will be most punctual. =/\= There was no further reason to attempt further communications, Roman was sure they wouldn’t listen unless their directions were followed precisely. A landing party to be sent in the next half hour, meeting the Lord and his advisors in front of their governing hall.

When the screen deactivated, Marcus turned to Alden, “I can be ready to go in twenty minutes Commander.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Rand wouldn’t laugh, but her eyes danced a bit at the exchange and the absurdity of hit. Alden was going to hate this stop, and she didn’t blame him one bit.

Yeoman Rand

Seeing Rand’s confusion about what happened, Alwyn couldn’t help but smile at her surprise. He had to say he was surprised too, as he didn’t expect Alden to pull off such a card from his sleeve. Alwyn was pretty sure the information will fly from one ensign ear to another in a few hours.

“Same goes for me, Commander”, said the doctor. “I’ll gather some personnel, and we’ll be ready to go.”

Lieutenant Alwyn Yarwood - CMO

Anders grinned, “Eee, I’ve been waiting for a chance to stretch me legs, will be a pleasure to accompany you Doctor Yarwood.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Alwyn nodded at Anders with a smile. It sure would be good to have him in case things goes wrong.

Roman hated it, all of it. His heritage was something he never, ever mentioned or brought up. Something he’d rather no one know at all. But he’d use it to benefit the ship and that’s what he was doing. “We’ll start with a small team: myself, since I am most familiar with how to act around these people. An officer from security and medical, just in case. Whether each of you go or you choose a junior officer to go is up to you,” he said, looking at Anders and Yarwood respectively. “While on the planet surface we can ask if they’d like engineering to examine their ships, if they say yes then we can beam somebody down.” He would simply stay focused on the mission and get this over with.

~ Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

“With your permission, sir, I would like to go with Ensign Avarak”, said the doctor. “Not only it would be a good experience for her first mission on the ship, but we could also begin the psychological evals right as we beamed down without looking aggressive.”

Since they are already showing their teeth, better not give them a reason to bite us.

Lieutenant Alwyn Yarwood - CMO

Roman had meant that one or the other go, but Yarwood had a point that it would be Avarak’s first mission, so Roman nodded. “I will allow it. But be sure she is aware of the situation. It will be quite easy to offend these colonists and we don’t want an incident.”

~ Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

“No phasers unless we have to, right Commander?”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

With the proper signals sent the time was ticking down to get together in the transporter room to beam down to get things on the road.

GM CockRoach

Roman nodded, “No phasers unless absolutely necessary. Lieutenants Anders and Yarwood, let’s head to the transporter room. And page Doctor Avarak to the transporter room ASAP as well.”

Alwyn nodded : “Understood, Commander.” He pressed a com button on the nearest station and said : =O= Yarwood to Avarak, meet me at the transporter room as soon as you can. Yarwood out =O= He then goes into the turbolift heading to the meeting point.

Lieutenant JG Alwyn Yarwood - CMO

Kovan watched the hustle and bustle of the bridge with a quiet and watchful gaze. He quietly sipped his mug of steaming water and watched as the others formed their away team and headed off for the transporter pad. Kovan flipped a few switches and with a couple key strokes he routed the passive comms receiver through his ear comm piece. The passive comms receiver was a piece of ship tech that “listened” for sub-space messages not directed towards the ship. Often the receiver would be the one responsible for finding distress signals or the equipment that listens in to outside communications. And that’s why Kovan was listening.

Don’t think about the Orions. He told himself more than once. Don’t think about them. Do your job. There are hostiles in the area and this is how you find them when they’re trying to evade notice. Just listen and hopefully catch them before. . . before.
