Her kiss made the awful, painful, knot in his stomach disappear, everything fading except her. He hugged her close to him and made the kiss a nice, long lingering one. When it ended, he cuddled his head into her. “So I see we’ve found a way to spend our day off,” He said softly into her, smiling.

~ Roman

Rand grinned, face tucked between his neck and shoulder, where she trailed soft kisses. “I like spending our day off like this.” Then she kissed him again, lingering much longer that time.

Much later, Rand decided spending the day like this with Roman was a great way to relax and rest. Even if she didn’t get more sleep.

Rand

Roman certainly looked relaxed and happy. He was still cuddled up with her, eyes closed like he might fall asleep except if Rand moved Roman would look at her as if asking where she thought she was going.

~ Roman

Rand wasn’t going anywhere, and she kissed him to prove it. She was relaxed and dozing some, but was still tired from the nightmare filled previous night meant, so she was a bit restless. So Roman gave her that look again and she kissed again and settled back down. Then, at some point, it turned into a game. She’d move so he would look at her, so she had an excuse to kiss him again.

Rand

Roman liked this game. The looks became more frequent, at the slightest bit of movement and began to look more and more like his “robin hood” look. Like instead of “where are you going” he was asking “you gonna kiss me again?” He snuggled into her as close as he could, arm around her, and then waited for her to move before giving her another look.

~ Roman

Rand had a permanent blush. She liked this too. It was comfortable and quiet, but she was flirting with him, without making herself nervous. This went on for awhile. Rand blushing and grinning, moving a little, then when he would look at her, she would kiss him. Then she decided she was going to tease him a little. She stared up at him for long time not moving. Then when his look went from “you gonna kiss me again” to “what are you waiting for?” she just grinned at him.

Rand

She was teasing him and he liked it. Roman’s look turned to “what are you waiting for?” And then when she grinned, he play pouted and gave her his best sad face. He tightened his arm around her, pulling her closer, trying to make it totally irresistible.

~ Roman

It was impossible to resist Roman when he was playful, but Rand did her best. Then he pulled her in even closer. Oh that clever man. Rand grinned bigger. She had to move her head to tip it back, so she could still look at him. She laughed very softly before she kissed him that time.

Rand

Roman grinned, he felt like he won because he got to kiss her. He hugged her tight and when the kiss was over, looked down at her adoringly. He looked totally relaxed and happy, not at all stressed like he had been in the morning. He’d forgotten entirely about the results.

~ Roman

Rand hadn’t forgotten. She wanted to know. She wanted to know that Roman was going to be okay and what they had to do to make sure he stayed that way. Unlike Roman, Rand could not just ignore that the information was there or that she was worried. Her anxiety was such that should she try to ignore it she would only be more upset later. What was worse was she didn’t know if she should remind him or not. This was so much easier when Randy was his yeoman. Randy would just make the appointment and deal with it. Maybe that’s what she should do. And what if it was just something simple he could do or not do, like it had been with her grandfather, but if Roman didn’t look he wouldn’t know and then…then something would happen to him. And to stop Roman from realizing she was upsetting herself and having to explain and then upset him, Rand kissed him again.

Rand

Roman was surprised by her kiss. He hadn’t looked at her that time. But the kiss didn’t feel the same, it felt… Stiffer, almost forced. And then it ended, and she cuddled into him almost as if she’d had a nightmare rather than cuddling with him. His hand started moving gently along her back. “Miranda, is something wrong?”

~ Roman

She couldn’t tell him, and how had he noticed anyway? She thought she was getting better, finding some of that old acting skill to help hide her anxiety. Either she wasn’t getting better (an ugly lie that reared its head as fact as often as it could) or Roman was being very observant (of course he was, he didn’t miss anything, but maybe she had hoped he was to distracted). She didn’t want to lie and say nothing. “I’m…anxious,” her head turned so her cheek was resting against his chest, “from the nightmares I guess. Making me worry about things I don’t want to think about.” She sighed as his hand moved over her back.

Rand

Roman was being very observant. He was never, ever going to miss something like that again. How he had missed that she was so depressed was beyond him and unacceptable to him. He pressed her to him and smiled. “Maybe I can scare those things away… With another kiss?” He was still being playful and goofy, he knew she liked that.

~ Roman

Rand looked back up at him…there was something about the way he was holding her, the the feeling behind the words, the playfulness, something turned over in her head just a little bit. “Just because you don’t believe they exist, the R.O.U.Ses are still there. You’ll get rid of them anyway.”

Rand

Roman looked down at her, as if surprised, and then he smiled and hugged her tight. “Every time. I will get rid of them every time.” And then he kissed her again. It was a long, gentle kiss.

~ Roman

Rand sighed as he kissed her, for a little while she didn’t have to think about everything that could go wrong or what she was or was not supposed to do. Roman would make it better. What she said and the significance of it was lost on her at the moment. That was okay though. She liked Roman’s reaction. She hugged him tightly as he kissed her and chased her nerves away.

Rand

When the kiss ended, Roman smiled down at her, his expression playful and cute. “Did they go away or do you need another round?” He looked happy. She felt like she might have relaxed some, and he was glad for that.

~ Roman

Rand looked back at him, and she looked thoroughly kissed and a little dazed. It was quite clear she couldn’t decide between being relaxed and wanting him to kiss her again. That was quite clear when she said, “I always want you to kiss me,” rather than continuing their playful banter, and blushed furiously. Then she stammered a moment, tried to snuggle closer, “An extra round, just in case?”

Rand

Roman grinned. She wasn’t usually that forward with what she wanted him to do and he liked it. “Just in case.” He pulled her in and gave her the next round when she asked for it. This time it was more passionate and excited but just as long and gentle.

~ Roman

It was a long slow morning, spent in each other’s arms, that stretched pleasantly into the early afternoon. Rand was snuggled up against Roman, head on his shoulder and an arm wrapped around him. They were relaxed back against the pillows watching another The Librarian movie and discussing whether to get food early or wait awhile.

There was a soft knock at the door and when they answered it was Randy. He relaxed a little when he saw Roman was awake. “When neither of you paged me I was worried the tranquilizer I gave you was too strong and you were still asleep.”

Rand

For Roman it had been a long, slow, relaxing morning. A nice change after the recent stress. He was cuddled into Rand, an arm around her and holding her hand with his other one as they watched the movie. When Randy opened the door, he tensed a little under Rand, but still seemed calm. “No, no. It was fine. We were just… Carried away with something else.” Kissing. They were carried away kissing. Roman preferred that. He just didn’t want to know.
