[snip]But then Vulcan would freeze over before she would allow any of them to know that.
“That’s good. I know our respective societies haven’t always seen eye to eye, I had hoped you and I might see beyond our cultural differences and put this ship and her crew first.” The Andorian’s skin tone blanched ever so slightly. “I need you and Ivo to cut through that interference as quickly as possible. If there are survivors, we need to move fast.... And please, if you happen across anything pertinent in any logs you may find, have them copied.” Th’elin glanced at Cerny as well. “And take care of each other. This is duty, but I can’t help but be concerned with so many of my senior staff going into harms way.”
GM CockRoach
Quinn entered the transporter room, having arrived ahead of her security team. Picking up her own equipment, she checked it over and slung the belt around her waist. She could feel the anticipation… the excitement, that she always felt before leaping into the unknown build as she waited for them to move out. It had been far too long since she’d done this. “Everyone armed and ready?” she asked. While the assembled crew were not of her department and some of them of higher rank, she was still the security chief and ensuring they all took the proper measures when going into a hostile environment was part of her job.
Lt Quinn Phy-Knight
Security ChiefThe Captain grinned as Quinn came in and began to take charge. “We seem to have our equipment, Ms Phy-Knight, your staff seems quite prepared, I’ve been meaning to offer my compliments as to their training and preparedness.”
“Thank you, Sir,” Quinn replied, glad to know that her team had at least met with the Captain’s approval when it came to showing up armed and ready. She just hoped they could meet her standard should they be called into action.
Ovik’s eyebrow raised up at the complement. He, too, hoped they could live up to the kind words.
NE Moe spoke up, “..This all thats going down?” He inquired.
GM CockRoach
“No,” Cerny said simply. “We’re waiting for at least two more. And we’re going down in two groups. You should have the coordinates already.” He had made sure to send them down here before he handed the science station over to Mr. Savage.
“You’re not having any problems with targeting through that interference, right?”
Cerny made a point of leaning over the transporter console to check whether the coordinates were fed in.
– Ivo Černý, XO/CSO
“Nervous, Commander?” T’Pria raised one elegant eyebrow at the XO. “I can assure you, my team have personally configured the safety protocols on the patters buffers and they are within established parameters.”
- Lt T’Pria (CE)
Cerny glanced at T’Pria. For some reason not quite consciously known to him, he found her raised eyebrow to be amusing.
“Oh, I don’t doubt that,” he said simply, smiling a little. “I just don’t want us materializing right next to an oil fire.” He leaned back and turned to face T’Pria and everyone else.
Ovik suddenly got buzzed.
=/\= Ensign Ovik, prepare a security team and meet us in the transporter room. Make sure they’re prepared to engage hostiles if needs be. At present, we don’t know what’s out there. Phy-Knight out. =/\=
The Vulcan opened his comm and replied back. =/\= On our way, sir. =/\= He looked over to some of the folks in the room. “Crewman Foster and Jenkins, with me, if you please.”
Eventually the security officer and his two cohorts showed up at Transporter Room 1. They were clad in red shirts with black undershirts, and belts with phasers and comms on them. Ovik also had a small tricorder in hand. “Sirs,” he said, as the trio saluted Phy-Knight and the other superiors in the room. Ovik stayed at attention while the other two brought their arms down, still rigid in stance. “Security team reporting.”
Ens. Ovik, Security
“At ease, Ensign,” Quinn said as she inspected her security team; everything seemed in order.
Leather medkit in hand Paul wandered into the transporter room. No weapon on his person. ”Someone ask for a House call?” he asked.
Doc Hudson
CMOPhy-Knight surveyed the unarmed medic. What is it with doctor’s thinking they are immune from attack? Just because they patch up the wounded, doesn’t mean they can’t just as easily become the wounded. “You should arm yourself, Doc, we don’t know what we’ll be dealing with on the surface,” she said, trying not to let her disapproval for the man’s unpreparedness show. “Or do I need to assign a member of security to watch your back?” It had been an effort for her not to use the word babysit.
Paul turned and observed the security chief through his glasses. He had switched the short sleeved medical tunic that was his preferenced for a long sleeved one but that was about it in terms of preparation. He raised his eyebrows.
”My dear Young lady.” he began. ”I will indeed not arm myself thank you, as you so astutely put it we don’t know what we will be dealing with on the surface. I am a doctor I won’t be going in guns blazing to get is essentially a milk farm.” he crossed his arms. ”Now, hats nit to say I won’t defend myself if needed but If by that you then feel the need to send one of your people to babysit me then by all means do so.”
Ivo was proud of himself for suppressing an eyeroll.
Ovik watched, at ease now, as the doctor and Phy-Knight interacted. Ovik really didn’t feel like “babysitting”, but he would if he had to.
IC: “Ah Doc, yes.. You’ll be with me and Quin and her boys. We’ll be looking for survivors and signs of what may have occurred.” Th’elin looked to T’pria and Cerny next. “I figured you two and whomever you need with you should beam down first and get started on those power systems. Myself, Doc, and the Security Team will beam down next.” His antennae twitched slightly in anticipation. “Has anyone seen Mr. Myasnikov? I thought he was coming with us?”
- Zarath, CO
Paul nodded at Zarath and moved to that size of the transporter room.
Doc Hudson
CMONE Moe shook his head, “..No yet sir..” He said waiting for the first team to be ready to do his job to beam them down. He sure was glad he wasnt going to what he heard sounded like a dangerous place.
GM CockRoach
“Oh, I thought he was sulking up on the Bridge because he didn’t get to fly the shuttle,” Ivo offered to Zarath.
“Whatever,” the Commander said a minute later. He was ready to go, and his team was going to go first. As far as he knew, that only really consisted of him and T’Pria. “Let’s go,” he said to her.
He walked up onto the transporter pad, and drew his phaser, making a point to twist the knob on the back to an appropriate setting. “Phasers on stun,” he ordered.
– Ivo Černý, XO/CSO
“On stun, Sir,” T’Pria confirmed as she studied, and then re-holstered, her phaser. Moving into position to the left of Černý, the Vulcan mused silently that it was not her the First Officer should be concerned about but their Andorian brute of a Captain. She tried and almost succeeded in suppressing a glance in Zarath’s direction as she wondered what his phaser was set to.
- Lt T’Pria (CE)
Ivo missed this, having been in the process of putting his phaser back at his side.
Ovik still clung to his tricorder, trying to have some sensor readings come available. His two comrades, also wondering if they would be assigned to any individuals such as the doctor, had their phasers out. They had theirs on stun as T’Pria commanded.
Ensign Ovik, Security
OOC: Can I get a quick recap who’s going with who so I can break down threads for each?
GM CockRoach
OOC: Cerny and T’pria (and I assume some red shirts) are heading down as the first Landing Party. Zarath, Hudson, Phy-Knight, and Ovik are heading down as the second Landing Party to search for survivors. Also, I assume we’ll be breaking into two separate threads from here.
IC: The Captain’s phaser was on his belt, and it was set to stun. He might be a ‘brutish Andorian’ but he was a Starfleet officer and wouldn’t take a life without proper consideration. Antennae curling, Th’elin met Cerny’s and T’pria’s eyes for a moment, then ordered two Security NE’s up onto the Transporter pad with Cerny and T’pria and stood back. “Good luck, Mr. Cerny, T’pria, and good hunting.” He glanced at the Ensign running the transporter controls and nodded for him to energize the Transporter beam.
The Ensign at the controls flipped a switch and then pulled downward on all three of the sliders. Cerny, T’Pria, and the two nameless security men dematerialized into bright yellow light, and then nothing, as the transporter made its extremely loud hum.
– Ivo Černý, XO/CSO
As the Transporter was fulfilling it’s function, the Andorian turned to Hudson and Phy-Knight. “You two ready? We might be walking into a hostile situation, but there’s no helping it until we can crack that interference and get some proper scans.”
-Zarath, CO
”Ready as you ever are when beaming down into the unknown.” Paul said with another look at Quinn. ”ill try not to get myself shot.” he emphasised at her again.
