Kristi ‘watched’ from her corporeal location and wondered what was happening. She moved around the engineering bay, realization that no one could see her slowly sinking in. She didn’t recognize the man talking to the Chief. Perhaps from another shift? And why did he call ‘Captain’? Was he not capable of telling Mike from the CO in the low light?

Mike was indeed looking at his former Chief. Or so he seemed to be. (OOC: I’ll let you name said person in case there’s anything not in the bio.) “Well. I think the lights are out due to a lack of power.” The engineer offered. “Do we know what actually caused the initial knockout? It might be an external event causing an internal mechanical fault. If so; what’s the event?”

As Kristi watched she was confronted by a ghostly figure, almost shapeless, save that it was humanoid. Welcome Kristiana O’Larria. Welcome to the place beyond places.

-Matrix

Kristi would have been surprised if things weren’t already so crazy. “A place beyond places? Am I dead?” She was suddenly more scared than confused. She couldn’t be dead. It hadn’t been that bad of a bump and Mike… she glanced at him and shook her head before looking back at the ghost. “I don’t want to die…” The words were soft, almost pleading.

“Lieutenant Akirel Ros....” Stone said as he recognised the man in front of him.
“It seems indeed we have a situation at hand, namely you have been missing for over a year. Care to explain how you ended up back here?” Mike was even more alert now.

It was almost impossible this was the same man. When he disappeared, he wasn’t alone. Four people were sucked into an unknown portal that just appeared on Viking. And some indeed returned after more then a year. Kara, the former CO. And Kalika Darz the security officer. But both returned as wrecks and barely alive. And Ros was just standing there, like nothing happened. No tare in his uniform or even a speck of dust could be seen.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

“To be honest sir, I have no idea what happened. That portal appeared and sucked me in. The time I was gone… it’s blurry. But I just kind of reappeared.”

You are in but not of this place Kristiana O’Larria. Not yet. There are those who wander this realm by force and those who do it by choice. On rare occasions,an accident removes a soul without destroying the body.

-Matrix

It felt so unusual to be called Sir by someone who used to be his superior, and held the same rank. Ros’s explanation was much to vogue for his liking but.... what was he going to do. He kept his suspicion from showing too much, but he wasn’t going to let his eyes off of him.

“Well I hope your engineering skills are still there. I could use some help figuring out what happened and get things back on track.”

He motioned Ros towards the console by the warp core as it was the most likely in still working condition.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

Ros studied the console for a moment. “Seems like the computer is still active. Warp core is stable, but inactive. Like it’s… asleep.”

Kristi frowned at the entity. “I don’t understand… how do I get back? He needs my help.” She pointed to Stone but the last sentence covered more in her emotions than mere desire to help professionally.

Kristi
Eng (ghost?)

You are more needed here than there. The past of this ship is colliding with its present. Time is more flexible than you think.

-Matrix

Kristi glanced once more at Mike and sighed. Turning back to the specter, she shook her head in resignation. “Ok, what do you need me to do?” She hoped Mike would forgive worrying him and not waking.

Each of these people is in their own world. Tormented by what was. You must help them reunite to free themselves.

-Matrix

“So I have to play the healer? But do I do that?” She moved towards Mike and the man addressing him as Captain. “How do I make him understand it’s not real, and to stop punishing himself for… whatever it is he’s punishing himself over?” It seemed a bit crazy. Here she was, a ghost, having to help her crewmates face their ghosts in order to all come back to the ship where they were supposed to be.

Mike leaned over the console. He was glad he found it working. But as each second went by, his smile grew fainter and fainter. There were symbols he couldn’t identify at all. No instructions, nothing, to tell him where to even start. Perhaps someone set the LCARS to Klingon or Vulcan language?
Mike just watched the console, puzzled at what to do or where to start.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE?

These are not mere illusions. Your people require unity, so they can combat their pasts. It spreads from here to anywhere he can take it, but first you must show him that you live.

Ros leaned over to Mike. “What’s wrong Captain?”

-Matrix

The question echoed in his head. What WAS wrong? Nothing made sense. He gripped the sides of the console tightly as he concentrated on the swirly letters and simbols.
It made no sense, that he didn’t know any of these. True he wasn’t an engineer, but he studied hard. He worked as ensign for a year on the ship before he took the CE position.
There was anger in his eyes, and his knuckles started to turn white. “Kristi....” He said and finally released the console. “

He looked into her direction, where she still lay on the floor. Only her shoes were visible from here, just barely illuminated by his light and warp core. He needed power to call for help, teleport her, anything. And there were others as well. All without power, without sensors, without shields for protection…

He turned again towards warp core and the console in front of him.

“I am Lieutenant Mike Stone… Chief engineer on USS Viking!” He said with his powerful voice. “I got this!” He added and closed his eyes.

He felt the edges of the console, and imagined what it was supposed to look like. “Accessing main menu, initalizing main system reboot and level one diagnostics.”
He pressed where he remembered that the buttons should be.

The console began to chirp in response.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

Show him that I live? She asked the ghost. Turning to Mike, she sighed and walked over to the console he was at. He had confessed he was no engineer when he had told her of his past. She glanced at what he was doing and reached a hand down to the console over his. If she could get the diagnostic to shift to the one that showed him the status of life support, first, perhaps he would realize ‘someone’ or something was helping him. If that worked, maybe she could get a message to him.

Without turning to look, she asked. If I’m not in his time, how do I get him back to mine? Do all those on this ship now reside in the same ‘other’ time? Or are they all I separate times?
