Settling on a pair of Hari-Shayasha ‘sandwiches’ actually closer to a gyro consisting of a bread like tuber flatbread, a native beetle and some vegetables and steaming mug of Kathcha, Hravish found a table to await the lieutenant.

He was skimming the logs over the last few months to get a feel for the department and what it faced aboard the ship. Particularly the reason behind the exstrodinary defenses on deck eight.

Kalika still wasn’t cleared for duty. Her final eval was in three days. But Hravish had invited her to lunch. She guessed it was to get her out of her quarters. She had been holed up there for the full 48 hours since being discharged from sick bay, with the exception of the meeting this morning. She still wasn’t sure that being out and about was such a good thing. Many looked at her like a monster who had materialized from the walls. Others with pity for having endured what she had. And a few, had shunned her completely. Almost as if whatever happened to her would happen to them just from proximity.

So it was she found herself standing in the mess hall doorway, the door having whooshed shut behind her, effectively blocking her quick exit. She watched him sit down and sighed. She would have to face him sooner or later. He was her new supervisor, afterall. Moving to the replicator, she got a plate of what was supposed to pass for spaghetti, and a fruit juice with the extra vitamin mixture the Doc wanted her to have. Putting a smile on, though realizing it wasn’t a full, genuine grin, she moved to the table to join him. “Sorry I’m late. Decided to change out of the uniform. Still feels odd to be wearing it here.” She glanced at his sandwich and smiled. “Those are Hari-Shaysh… Hari-Shayas…” She finally gave up and laughed, and this time it was genuine. “Ok, I forgot the name, Hari something-or-others. Aren’t they? Never got a taste for them, but it’s good to see you’ll still enjoy them around me.” It didn’t occur to her that being back on the ship was the first time she’d met him. And she certainly wasn’t aware of his eating habits.

Hravish looked up with a soft excretion and liquid eyes, the Andorian equivalent of a smile before remembering to let it touch his lips. “ close enough” the pleasure and humor at her attempted pronunciation genuine in his soft voice.”I assure you that their are human delicacies I have not ‘acquired’ the taste for.’ His antennae canting toward the spaghetti before he remembers to cut his eyes and nod in the same direction. The Andorian has been schooled in diplomacy and the customs of other species, but with out the stress associated with a negotiation his training was not reflexive.

“ I have been skimming the ships recent reports, especially the sergeant’s blotter but desired to wait on reading your debriefing untitled we had a chance to speak.” Just a moments pause as he considers his next words. “ I wanted a chance to speak to you and let that be how I first perceive you instead of a report. I believe you deserve that respect.” Hravish spoke louder than he might to an Andorian, but much quieter than a human would, certainly quieter than he had in their earlier meeting. ‘Official business’ verged on shooting, he always felt like he was dealing with new recruits. Here he was more relaxed, more Andorian if you will.
