The Heavensent was a highly used name in its data dump. It would be similar to looking for human in google and hoping to get lucky. The ship name was the Forbearance. Hard specifics on life span was hard to figure out but given the texts and stories. It seemed to be between 200 - 300 years or infinite depending on what was referenced. The infinite seemed to refer to their spirit so there could be a heavy religious component to the species, although religious texts were not prevalent in the data dump.

The mission of the ship was not in the data that was sent over.

GM
OOC: Luke, Sam if this doesn’t work feel free to void it. Trying to slide in without too much disruption.
IC: Rende had been listening, El-Aurians were good at that. Watley was mostly quiet and spoke only when he had something to contribute, she liked that. She wasn’t too thrilled with an unknown vessel and the huge data dumb. “O’Larria make sure that data dumb doesn’t have a virus hidden it, or at least one we can identify. Then prepare a return data transfer, nothing classified. Woods work Sigmundsson, I want to know what systems that ship was keeping running and speculations on why. Might show us where the crew is or what happened to them. Asam, I want an analysis of the layout of that ship and if we board how we are going to go about it and search it.” She turned to Watley, “Cmdr if you would, send out a notice to the crew of the approaching area vessel and to go on alert. We have a couple of hours before it gets here, no need to raise the alert level yet, but I want them ready when we do.”
Rende, CO

((assuming you wanted Kalika to check the data dump? O’Larria is Kristi, she is in engineering and it hasn’t been brought into the sim yet.... may have signed in as wrong person. Sorry))

Kalika nodded. “Yes, Ma’am…” she set to work making sure the data didn’t contain anything crippling. She then made a note of all the information they were given and matched it, the best she could, with their own public history and information. “I have a mirror recording of equal information when you are ready, Sir,” she turned back to the Captain a few minutes later. They seem to be deep space travelers. Though if there is a mission specific reason for being out here, I can’t seem to find it. I’ll keep looking, though.” She turned back to the console and bit her lip. It was a horrible habit she had picked up in the Academy and it drove her nuts. Realizing she was doing it, she started humming lightly to keep herself from doing it again.

The data dump was pretty much just news and books. There were insidious viruses, that would embed itself in pictures and other benign looking things, but there was no evidence of that. There were no signs of increasing data usage or unexplained power usage. Nor has a standard virus scan detected anything. By and large the Viking seemed like superior computer tech so it was unlikely that they would be deceived.

Markus nodded. “Aye, Captain.” His station could give a lot of information on a wide array of topic and had pretty fine control over the sensor arrays aboard the Viking. However, the tactical station was better at subsystem analysis. Both could do the job, it was merely a matter of specialization. Sparing Peter a glance he tied his data analysis tools into the tactical systems and shut down his station. Standing up quickly, he made his way over to the Lieutenant Commander and settled in along side him.

Working quickly, he pulled up what past sensor recording and information they had, running back in the timeline. With the object being so cold to start it was hard to pick out against the background radiation, especially without knowing originally what to look for. But now that they did have an idea, it wasn’t that hard to run it back. Markus quickly pulled up the thermal signature of the ship and the temperature differentials, looking at what systems were hotter than the others. That might give them some clue as to the captain’s request. If it heated uniformly, that told them something different.

Peter gave Woods a slow nod as he got to work with the man.

The ship warmed in a pattern consistent to a forced air heating system along with some sort of floor board heating. I’m not sure what else you are looking for. If you could clarify I would be happy to help.

GM
OOC: Looking to see if we can identify which areas were warmed first, so like where a crew might be in stasis, or areas that were not cold, so it would indicate that area was important.
Jenn

No pattern like that. All compartments that were large enough for a 2 meter person to move upright were warmed simultaneously.

Peter nodded at the Science Chiefs work, looking for heat signatures to figure out what was working without crew would give them an idea as to what was an important part of the vessel. “Do you see any evidence as to a central computer core, engine room or command centre?” He asked.

CIO

Kalika looked up after several minutes. “I’m just seeing the usual in the bit of info I can get, Captain. No overt viruses or links to viral issues I can find. Just public viewing stuff, mostly. Stories and news. More like the general stuff would would get from listening to a planet’s public airwaves. I don’t find anything more specific than that. But I’ll keep trying.” She went back to the files to be sure she hadn’t missed anything. This time going with a bit more patience and actually looking at the various file titles.

Markus shook his head. “Negative. It looks like it’s just cranking everything on without priority. Either they don’t see a need, or they have little concern about power usage.” Continuing on he switched through a few different modes of analysis. “They’re within high resolution range on our sensors, but we’re not getting a lot of detail. Either they’re being interfered with, or this design doesn’t have much complexity. Which given their warp signature so far would bare that out. Trouble is, there’s no way to tell if they’re hiding their maximum level of power output, or if they are putting all available power into meeting up with us. I can’t even get details on whether or not they’re using fusion or a matter/anti-matter core from the neutrino detectors. We’re getting them, of course. But nothing conclusive.” He swung his dark gaze between peter and the Captain. “So far they’ve done just about everything but roll out some red carpet though. So maybe we’re just gonna have to read up on them as much as we can until we’re in shuttle or transport range. Then go on over and say hi, face to face, like good neighbors.”

Lt Woods, CSO

It wasn’t a particularly confusing design. The engine room was sizable midships/aft as what was common in most ship designs, warp drive was matter anti matter high efficiency, but it was lower than modern Federation designs in output. There was a central column of several decks that didn’t seem to have much access and there was no effort for specialized heating, this was likely the computer core. Several weapon hard points and a few tube openings that could be for torpedoes or other missile devices. On the ventral side was what probably a shuttle, cargo or docking bay.
