Kalika looked up after several minutes. “I’m just seeing the usual in the bit of info I can get, Captain. No overt viruses or links to viral issues I can find. Just public viewing stuff, mostly. Stories and news. More like the general stuff would would get from listening to a planet’s public airwaves. I don’t find anything more specific than that. But I’ll keep trying.” She went back to the files to be sure she hadn’t missed anything. This time going with a bit more patience and actually looking at the various file titles.

Markus shook his head. “Negative. It looks like it’s just cranking everything on without priority. Either they don’t see a need, or they have little concern about power usage.” Continuing on he switched through a few different modes of analysis. “They’re within high resolution range on our sensors, but we’re not getting a lot of detail. Either they’re being interfered with, or this design doesn’t have much complexity. Which given their warp signature so far would bare that out. Trouble is, there’s no way to tell if they’re hiding their maximum level of power output, or if they are putting all available power into meeting up with us. I can’t even get details on whether or not they’re using fusion or a matter/anti-matter core from the neutrino detectors. We’re getting them, of course. But nothing conclusive.” He swung his dark gaze between peter and the Captain. “So far they’ve done just about everything but roll out some red carpet though. So maybe we’re just gonna have to read up on them as much as we can until we’re in shuttle or transport range. Then go on over and say hi, face to face, like good neighbors.”

It wasn’t a particularly confusing design. The engine room was sizable midships/aft as what was common in most ship designs, warp drive was matter anti matter high efficiency, but it was lower than modern Federation designs in output. There was a central column of several decks that didn’t seem to have much access and there was no effort for specialized heating, this was likely the computer core. Several weapon hard points and a few tube openings that could be for torpedoes or other missile devices. On the ventral side was what probably a shuttle, cargo or docking bay.

Rende got up and walked around to the back of the bridge to look at the readouts from the scans. “Eldorin I want a threat assessment. These older ships always seem to have surprises, whether in unexpected tech or really good crew.” She glanced at Kalika, “Where are you on the data transfer response?” She glanced at the information that had been sent, “One of the standard pre-dictated information packets should work.” She glanced at around. “Anyone have other concerns or suggestions? Time to speak up people.”

OOC: Luke last I saw we have 2 hours till it arrives. I also saw you ask, several posts back if we just wanted to move forward. I am fine with jumping forward at this point if no one has anything to add.
Rende, CO

OOC: All true, but the time was just due to the other ship moving. The Viking did not change course or speed. She could be there in about 20 minutes if she went to warp 8. But in the grand scheme it doesn’t change anything. So yes let’s go to transporter range.

OOC: Ward here, If there is room for me to jump in, let me know, if you need me elsewhere let me know that too please and thank you! :)

OOC: So there is no one specific spot I can think of other than helping the CoS do a threat assessment on the incoming ship. But please feel free to read back through this thread and then add any comments suggestions you have to the captain, CoS or anyone else on the bridge. I am sure once the ship arrives Luke will have tons for everyone to do.

Luke, Sam any specific suggestions that I missed?
-Jenn

Kalika nodded to the Captain and glanced back at the console. “It just finished sending. I sent the standard info packet with similar level of ship specs and basic starcharts of our origins. I used the regulation one with no additions.” She turned back to look at her, “Is there anything else you want me to send?” She wasn’t sure what else they could send until they knew the other crew’s intentions or desires. But it seemed prudent to ask.

Markus glanced between the other officers. “I think until we rendezvous it’s a lot of hurry up and wait, and study. But I doubt there’s anyone over there. Alive anyway. Automated and unmanned.” He didn’t want to use the words ‘ghost ship’ and risk invoking the memories of Viking-past. But it very well could be a ship with a crew that had passed away.

((OOC: Been hoping to either get more details or move this along for a while. Nothing else comes to mind.

Sam “Fox” Haynes))

The ship came with-in a million kilometers and dropped to impulse. Closing at about .2 c. The ship was overall at a temperature comfortable for most humanoids, with the appropriate oxygen levels. The ship continued it programed ‘welcome aboard’ message and for all intents and purposes it was rolling out the red carpet. The communication included a basic map of the ship with an arrow pointing at a specific room amid ships and a walking course from the nearest docking port or from the shuttle bay.

GM

Rende stared at the map, “Woods, any indication that system would react badly if we used the transporter system? If so I’m more inclined to use a shuttle and then keep a transporter lock. I don’t like the idea of us being tethered to that ship through the docking port. Asam, any indication of weapons? Sigmundsson, you find any further information that might be relevant?” She turned to Watley, “What do you think, Watley? Away teams are your purview. What do you want to do?”
Rende, CO

Peter shook his head “This is something I haven’t seen or heard of before, if anything I’d say it seems more like a first contact with a new species than anything that’s come across my desk” He inform the Captain.

CIO

Kalika turned to look at the Captain and CIO. “If I may, Sirs. I would recommend the shuttle. It can disengage once we are aboard, and remain close. But I think if we rely a hundred percent on the transporters, only, I think we place the Away Team at a risk. It would only take a shield harmonic to block us from transporting out once more. A docking port, we can force, if necessary.” She knew it was a bit forward of her, but as she had once been Security Chief, she felt it her duty to speak her mind when it came to the safety of those on the ship.

Watley stared glumly at the monitor before them showing the vessel. “I’m still not to keen on sending anybody over there. We still are not positive on what this thing, and the fact that it is altering its own environment is a danger to our crew. We might send some people over there and the ship starts altering the internal environment again.”
