Peter left the 12 Forward lounge feeling decidedly amused, that Klingon First Officer was certainly a paranoid individual, an attribute Peter would normally applaud but he felt it decisively unnecessary now, Starfleet Intelligence wouldn’t really need to learn about this strange alien before they’d have a chance to learn more and he couldn’t learn more until they’d start talks so why not use this time to enjoy yourself.

He moved across the hallways and a short turbo lift trip returning in front of the holodeck. He saw that it was occupied, curiously he checked the occupancy record and for a moment he frowned at the name, Darz again. He quickly lost his train of thought and turned to the nearby holosuite and entered the program he had in mind. After a moment the panel beeped letting him know the program was ready.

He entered a gym, more precisely it was the Starfleet Gym in San Fransisco. He walked across the familiar halls, whenever he was on Earth this was his preferred exercise yard. They had some of the most diverse equipment from gravity weights to actual metal weighted plates, several different forms of swimming faculties, and anti-gravity rooms. He walked over to the nearest weight lifting station and examined them thoughtfully, he finally decided what to do and began stretching to prepare the muscles he would work on today. Exercise was, in his humble opinion, one of the greatest ways of self-fulfillment and satisfaction there existed in the world.

After a thorough stretching, Peter moved to the physical weights and sat down on a Bench, a holographic person appeared to spot him for the coming benchpress. He eyed the weights then added to them until they weighed a hundred kilograms, it wasn’t a heavy load for him but this was the perfect starter weight for the reps he had planned for. He inclined the bench up until it met his desires then sat down and leaned back then grasped the metal bar and with minimal effort lifted it into the air and started the exercise. This day wasn’t a day for upper body exercise, it was cardio day but lifting heavy things was far more enjoyable and visibly impressive than running across the corridors scaring the living daylights out of the junior crew.

CIO

Time passed quickly but Peter finally noticed a slight burn in his muscles and he lowered the weights then after a moment he sat up. He put his hand to his head, he had gathered a little sweat, how long had he been lifting that, it was as if he’d lost all sense of time, only enjoying the sensation of lifting something. He stood up and walked for a few meters before coming across a rack of dumbells. He looked for a moment before picking a pair from a lower end of the rack, some of the more heavy weights there. He began an exercise, he wasn’t sure if he’d cooled down or not but the act of lifting enticed him, called him to continue.

Peter looked at his reflection and frowned at himself, no more precisely he scowled at himself then at his weights. He dropped the heavy exercise equipment to the floor and they landed with a heavy clang. Several of the holograms looked in his direction but quickly returned to their preprogrammed routines. He looked around the room scanning each hologram carefully, he knew all by sight as he had programmed this room himself, nothing was out of the ordinary with the program but he could remember starting the program itself. He looked back at his reflection, he was still wearing his uniform and had been exercising in it, he never exercised in his uniform, putting aside the fact that he respected his uniform too much it simply wasn’t practical. He could feel the throwing knives in his sleeve and behind his neck. The Karambit was still holstered in the small of his back. He squatted in place and checked his boot knives and they were also in place, he hadn’t undressed or disarmed as if he’d been too excited, in fact, he had been excited to work out. He remembered the feeling that nothing but his enjoyment had mattered at that moment.

He stood up and did an internal check, he was full so he had eaten recently and very well. He could also taste alcohol and a familiar flavor of tobacco. Immediately he checked his wristband and looked at the time, he was still on duty, why had he been imbibing when he should have been working. That last solid memory was returning with the strange alien to the Viking and a vague recollection of witnessing a meeting with the Captain then asking to be excused. Why would he excuse himself from that meeting and how had he ended up here several hours later with no recollection.

He released a fist he hadn’t noticed he was forming. He could see the marks left by his nails in his hand, he was angry and growing more so by the second… he was almost furious. Somehow he’d been compromised for a time. He needed intelligence on his actions and to figure out if someone else had been compromised and how it had happened. He quietly dosed his anger but didn’t extinguish it, there would be a time for his fury but for now cold analytical thought took over.

As if sensing the commander’s building wrath, the door to the holosuite materialized and the panel nearby displayed a yellow alert status. The pale amber glow of a force field was also in evidence across the door’s polished surface.
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

Peter frowned at the entrance that materialized in front of him. He took a few tentative steps forward and looked at the closed door. Instinctively his hand had gone to his combadge but he stopped himself. There were several possibilities for that force field and none of them were good. First that came to mind was the most hopeful, that someone was coming to detain him for whatever it was that he’d done for the past few hours. Second was that more members of the crew had been compromised similar to how he had been and were after him. Third was that this had nothing to do with him personally but he dismissed that.

With a forcefield being raised it was likely that his command codes had been disabled, only the Captain and First Officer could completely get the computer to ignore him and the Security Chief could do most of them, this meant no site to site transporting or overriding their commands. That was a hindrance but he could deal with it. He gently shook his arms preparing to throw the knives in his sleeves at a moments notice, there weren’t many left on the Viking who had seen him in action so they had no real knowledge of his fighting skill or speed, most assumed that he simply used brute strength when dealing with opponents. He took a step directly in front of the door =^=Door Open=^= He said and waited.

The turbolift door hissed open to turn loose a rather determined and vexed Kohr. The Klingon moved along the corridor with such force and purpose that those still in the halls swept aside to allow him passage. Any who gave a thought about asking what was going on were quickly deterred by his glare. While Kohr would normally make an attempt to adopt a less-threatening visage with his subordinates, he was in no mood for it at the moment. Klingon nature and Starfleet discipline were at war within his heart this day, and it was writ large across his features.

His pace slowed as he heard Lieutenant Forgraves giving his security team their orders, nodded appreciatively as he turned the corner to find them. It was good to see others taking this as gravely as he. This was a sad day for the crew of the Viking, indeed. He could see twinges of apprehension and confusion in the junior officers. Doubtless they wanted to know why they’d been gathered in such a fashion when the assumed threat was loitering decks elsewhere. Kohr’s only comfort was in the knowledge that Hab’rabi’s time would come soon enough.

For now, they needed to get their house in order.

“I thank you for your dedication in this task,” he said finally. Though he addressed the junior officers directly, it was extended to Forgrave as well. “I understand that this is a difficult position to face. Often heavy is our duty to Starfleet, and to each other.”

He turned to the lieutenant and nodded towards the door. “Perhaps the old Earth saying is best: let us get this over with.”
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

The opening revealed several figures; key among those visible being Commander Kohr and Lieutenant Forgrave. There were others present behind them, a smattering of Security ensigns; but only a few. The security chief stood ‘at ease’, hands clasped behind his back. His face was blank; though there was a sense of… being ‘on edge’ that the Intelligence officer could likely pick up on. Despite his relaxed presentation, Issac was tense; waiting to see what would happen. He found himself wishing that he knew Sigmundsson better; or at all, for that matter. About all he really had to go on was a skimmed personnel file and here-say from others; and that was less than sufficient. In his peripheral vision, he saw the officers lying in wait on either side of the door; tense and nervous. After all, it wasn’t every day that one detained one of their own; to say the least the Chief Intelligence Officer! But they remained in place; stamping on their nerves for now.

“Lieutenant Commander Peter Sigmundsson; you are being detained by order of Captain Rende Asam; for dereliction of duty.” Forgrave’s voice was firm and unwavering; delivering their purpose as if announcing it to a large crowd; clear and impossible to misinterpret. In a quieter tone, addressed to Peter alone, he continued. “I’d be obliged if ya cooperated; Sir. I can’t imagine you’re happy about this; I ain’t either. But there ain’t no need for this ta get… uncivil.” His piece said, Issac readied himself for a response - be it verbal, or physical.

Peter looked at the two senior officers, his expression was a lack of one, stone doesn’t have expressions. He stood calmly with both hands at his sides palms open, with the forcefield in front of him and a holodeck behind him he had a choke point. He calmly assessed the situation. Commander Kohr, Klingon, above average size adjust for Klingon Strenght He slowly slipped his right foot forward, adjusting his weight Lieutenant Forgrave, Human, sturdy build likely faster, possibly a boxer He looked at the junior security officers Cannon Fodder After a moment he returned his attention to Forgrave Dereliction of duty means I likely did not commit any serious crimes He relaxed the tension in his shoulders

Forgrave’s eyes flitted to Sigmundsson’s foot with its movement; assessing his stance and posture - as the man’s shoulders relaxed, Issac was temped to relax in turn. But he knew better - they were a long ways from being out of the woods; and even if Issac were to ignore any martial capabilities the man undoubtedly possessed, Peter had roughly 100lbs and a full foot of height on him. For multiple reasons, a fight was the last thing Forgrave wanted.

“I have no recollection of the past several hours since my return to the ship, I was likely compromised by an external factor. I’ll need to make sure that the two of you have not been similarly compromised before I surrender myself to your authority.” Without a phaser, it will be next to impossible to fight these odds without lethal measures, surrendering may be the only option He thought to himself. “How did I neglect my duties? I’m assuming the change was too subtle otherwise I would have been approached sooner”

CIO

Issac’s eyes widened at the CIO’s plain words; he hadn’t been sure of what to expect - he’d prepared for the worst, and the forthrightness caught him off guard. “Ah; well, uh, ta answer yer question, the charge against you referrers specifically to drinking while on duty, as well as failing to perform required tasks - specifically, contacting Starfleet in a timely manner. Those are of course, subject to investigation and verification. Them’s the specific charges - off the record, your recent behavior has been erratic and uncharacteristic - reason enough for concern by my book.” Issac shifted his stance; dropping the formality of the ‘At Ease’ position in favor of a more relaxed stance; one foot leading the other, partly mirroring Sigmundsson’s position.

“You pretty freely laid out the gist of our concerns for us - a possibility for you bein’ compromised by.... something, let’s say. Ain’t quite ready ta throw out accusations yet, but ah well; that’ll likely come in time. As far as provin’ ourselves.... well, I’m game. Don’t quite know how ta prove a negative mind you, but believe me when I say I can appreciate yer concern.” He fell silent for a moment, sucking his teeth as he contemplated options. “That bein’ said, I don’t know how best ta make ya feel at ease; if anything can right now. But I’m open ta suggestions.”
