Peter nodded slowly then pointed his head at Kalika towards the turn then turned around and saw the Captain enter the room, years of training kicked in and he almost stood at attention at the unexpected visit.

Rende entered sickbay and paused when the door closed to take in the scene. Hofmann, Kalika, and Jones were with Sacco. She hoped they were getting some answers there. She saw a flash of medical blue in Hab’rabi’s room and moved that way. She stood in the door way, standing perfectly still, but her eyes roving the room. Hab’rabi looked like he’d been dumped, albeit carefully, on the biobed. He was a rather large specimen after all. Semenza was over seeing him. And that young Betazoid doctor was curled on the floor, looking like she might be sick…again if the smell of cleaner and vomit in the room was any indication. Had the warp field been that harsh on those affected? She moved over and knelt down next to the young doctor. “Are you alright, Lt?”

Standing she looked over at Semenza, “Lt Semenza I need to speak to you, privately. Can someone else on your staff come help the Lt and watch over our guest for a moment?”

Rende, CO

“Captain, You’ll want to hear what Doctor Fayth has to say, she received a vision from Hab’rabi, it’s…” He hesitated “Worrying. Do you know where I can find commander Kohr?” He asked mostly to let the Captain know where he would be going without explaining why immediately.

Rende paused, “A vision? Did he harm her?” Betazoids were a wonderful people but always seemed to be in the middle of things. Probably because people relied to heavily on their telepathy. “I just left him, he was in his quarters.” On her way past him she spoke low, no need to spread information too far, “Cargo Bay 2.”

Kalika hadn’t seen the Captain’s arrival. She frowned at Sacco a moment then nodded to the nurse. “He’s definitely going to need to answer more questions. But I’m finished now. If you need anything, the security officer left here can help.”

Kalika turned and moved to tap a query on the nearest console to find where the Security Chief was. He needed to know this. And they needed to make sure that no one else touched the guest, if Sacco’s reaction was any indication what would happen.

Semenza nodded to the captain, waving over Ensign Jones to take his place. “They seem fine, any of the doctors should be able to stand in for a moment. What is it you need, Captain?”

Rende led the doctor to his office and waited for the door to shut. “This is restricted information Doctor. There are more survivors of Hab’rabi’s people on board his ship. In cryo stasis. We also have reason to believe there are hostiles on his ship. It is not ideal but you need to be prepared to receive those survivors in case we have to beam them out to save them. Also prepare for casualties. Quietly, we don’t want to tip our hand and put our own people in danger.”

“What happened to Lt Fayth and Hab’rabi?”

Rende, CO

Semenza crossed his arms, leaning his weight on one leg. “If Hab’rabi caused this much of a problem for our ship already, how can we prepare for more of them? We still haven’t found any way to stop the motes’ effects on our own crew.” Then he frowned. “The warp field… I’m not sure why, but it had rather a violent effect on both of them. They collapsed and threw up. My scans indicate they’ll be alright, but…” Semenza shrugged, frustrated by the lack of information.

Rende nodded, “Yes he has, but he came to us fully awake and thawed out. His crew is not. They are in cryo-stasis, so they will be asleep, and they will need a safe environment to be moved to, if we should need to move them before they wake. And no we haven’t, but perhaps you or one of your doctors can come up with a way to disrupt the connection. We don’t want to harm anyone though.” Rende was no doctor, but she was educated enough, “It doesn’t seem to have affected the whole crew. Was anyone else who was in contact with the motes affected?”

Semenza nodded without any idea how he was going to manage that. “Yes, Captain.” Then he nodded to answe her second question, “I believe so, but not as severely as Lt Fayth and Hab’rabi. Those two got the worst of it.”

Rende was puzzled as to why. Hab’rabi because he interacted with so many of them certainly, but why Fayth? She was sure Semenza and his team would find answers.

“I am confident in your ability to come up with an answer doctor. Now Cmdr Sigmundsson said Hab’rabi related some information to Lt Fayth. Is she well enough for me to speak to? After that I want to speak to our guest.”

Rende, CO

“She will soon be if she isn’t already,” Semenza said with another nod. “Hab’rabi I’ll want to check on first, but I have no doubt he’ll be able to speak with you.” Then he could get to work with his team to find the answer they were looking for. A way to disrupt the motes’ connections…

Rende nodded, “Thank you doctor. I will go see her. Please let me know when I can speak with Hab’rabi.” Rende made her way back towards the room where she had seen the young doctor sitting on the floor. “Dr. Jones,” she nodded to the other Dr in the room. “I need to speak with Lt Fayth. Do you think she’s up to it?” Semenza had given the okay but Jones was in the room with her so if something had suddenly changed Rende wanted to be sure first.

Mike looked up and seeing the captain sought to make a good first impression by snapping to something resembling standing at attention. “Um Oh yes ma’am … I mean Captain ma’am. ” Frowning then he took a deep breath and said in his best forced tone of calm assurance. ” Certainly, Ma’am I know of no reason not. I was just leaving to grab something to eat so you will have plenty of privacy.” Mike then hurried toward the exit of sickbay. Probably not his best first impression but it had been the only one head at the time.

Ensign Mike Jones Med.

“Thank you, Doctor.” Rende smiled at the young officer as he scurried out. It never changed. Young officers were always nervous around the senior staff. They all put their uniform on the same way and it hurt when you got hit with a phaser or a punch, or tripped and fell when the ship got rocked by solar waves. Now with the go ahead Rende gave a glance to Hab’rabi and then moved over to speak to Dr Fayth.

After checking with Dr Jones and on Hab’rabi Rende walked over toward the dark haired doctor. She was concerned that she was still on the floor and no one had helped her up yet. Semenza said that the static field had really done a number on Hab’rabi and Fayth. Hab was passed back out, was Fayth still ill?

“I’m alright Captain. It just seemed prudent to stay here out of the way.” Fayth felt her curiosity at the immediate identification. It wasn’t anything so mystical as telepathy, Sharah had heard her speaking to Jones. There was always a sense of acceptance around the cpatain. As if nothing anyone could be or do or act would surprise her. That it was part of the nature and individuality. There was also a hard edge of … danger about the woman.

Rende bent down, curiosity and worry tinging her aura. “Cmdr Sigmundsson said you had quite the story to tell.” Rende reached out to place a hand on the young woman, but hesitated. Rende was aware of the strength of this woman’s gifts and apparently she’d been through quite the roller coaster already. ‘Would it be easier to speak this way to me?

Sharah took a slow breath in, held it and then slowly let it out. Sharah declined shaking her head, the experience had left her with a sickening migraine and it would be too horrific to be sick all over the captain. “This way is fine, I thank you though, Cpt. The experience is hard to explain. The warp static field, it…disrubpted everything. Cmdr Sigmundsson, myself, and Hab’rabi were all effected. Hab’rabi and myself more than…” that was a problem for another time. “Hab’rabi became agitated and was very ill. Lt Forgrave was trying to speak to him, he was being…cautious and evasive. A strength of will and heartache, and sorrow I have never felt like before. Perhaps my earlier experience has influenced me somewhat, but…” Sharah squinted against the bright light and raised her head, “I wish I could give you the memories, Captain, but Betazoid telepathy doesn’t work that way. Hab’rabi was able to use one of the remnants to create a bridge to share them with me.”

So the doctor had been visited again, and again with more memory and control than anyone else. Due to simply being telepathic or the strength of her unique gifts? “Do you think you could communicate with the remnants directly? Enlist their assistance?”

Sharah considered it, “Perhaps, I haven’t really tried, it’s more been a recieving. But I will tell you what Hab’rabi showed me, and do my best to answer all of your questions. There is so much…it is overwhelming and what I would consider insignificant or not catch my notice may not to you.” Sharah just really wanted to drift, to let it pass, but she had her duty, and she could not let those things take over the Viking. She began, slowly to tell Cpt Rende the story of the Valh’kaeri.

Rende listened as Fayth described the memories that Hab’rabi had shared with her. She stopped her several times to ask questions, drawing out details. The retelling of Hab’rabi’s greatest sorrow rocked Fayth, overwhelming her, and Rende set a hand on his shoulder. The grief, sorrow and loneliness had become Fayth’s own. It moved Rende, but she’d had centuries to learn to separate other’s emotions from herself and to ignore it until the time was right. “Tell me about the wraiths. What they were like, their behavior, what they said, from the beginning. Only tell me those things.”

Fayth nodded focusing on those details and recalling the memories. “At first they acted by instinct, but were savage. They were hungry…” Sharah rubbed at her temples. The crew was scared, paranoid, and frustrated. Those feelings were hyper-focused in the captain and distracting. “Maslow’s hierarchy. Physcial needs, and then safety. They…they are still savage but with focus now. They wanted the yur, as vessels for themselves. Now they want something, but the memories don’t tell me what.”

Rende nodded, it’s how it had sounded to her the first time she heard it. She would send Korzak in to talk to Fayth and see if he could pull anymore information from Fayth. What was of more concern was the massive strength and vicious attacks that worried Rende. =/\=Rende to Kohr. Hold! Sigmundsson has information for you. I’m on my way.=/\=

Sharah reached out and stopped the captain as she stood. “En Cael…I was there when he found the four different signatures. Judging from what we know, the first two are remnants and wraiths, the third, the one that looks combined, really is. It’s how Hab’rabi is keeping the wraiths imprisoned. But there is…something else. What he shared with me doesn’t say what it might be.”

Rende stepped to the door and looked around, “Lt Darz!” When the officer walked over, “I want you to go down to engineering and talk to En Weir. He’s got scans for four different energy signatures. We know what three of them are, but the fourth…go, work with him, and track where they are, have been, when each signature first appeared on board, and what it appears they have been doing, where they are going, what happened where they were.”

Rende then turned looking for her chief medical officer, “Semenza, I need to talk to Hab’rabi now.”

Rende, CO

The captain tried to assist the young woman to a biobed but Fayth shook her head. “I think I’m more stable on the floor and not risk getting dizzy and falling. Thank you Cpt.” Fayth closed her eyes and smiled her thanks as the captain lowered the lights. She hoped that Hab’rabi would be more forth coming when speaking to the captain.

Fayth, med

Kalika walked by the small cluster gathered around the CO and nodded to those who glanced her way as she heard out to find the COS.

Rende saw the security officer she had just spoken to walk by with out responding to her orders. She spoke up again. “Lt Darz, are you alright? I need you to go to engineering. If not see a doctor.” She walked toward the officer dragging a doctor with her, watching the arm band. Had these things found a way to trick those as well?

Rende, CO

Semenza nodded to the Captain. “I can take you to him now. Assuming he’s awake and feeling up to it, you can talk to him.” Then he watched as she spoke to the security officer.
