=c= Computer, locate the Counselor’s office. =c=

=C= Please follow the illuminated guidance. =C=

After one eternity later from the science office and the sickbay, Tom managed to find the Counselor’s office. Strange for him, its location wasn’t there on the ship deck plan at glance. He thought maybe this place had to be like that. So whoever seeks counseling, the confidentiality was out of the concern.

“Good afternoon, Ensign Tom Little reporting.” He said, with a seabag on his shoulder.

Little, Sci

As the Ensign pressed the chime, the door slid open silently to a room much different than most of the ship. It seemed the Counselor was at least proficient at making the space less ‘clinical’.

The office was obviously different from the rest of the ship. It had the feel more of an old fashioned den or study than an office. It was lit in a more subdued manner than the rest of the ship by wall mounted lights; and bookcases now lined one wall, filled with copies and originals of many texts on many different subjects and in more than a few languages. The desk was moved, set against the opposite wall facing away from the corner, window to the left of a person seated at the desk and allowing for a large open space in the middle. Here there was a couch and a few chairs, one chair which sat in front of and facing away from the desk. A low table graced the middle of the area, and on it was a small bowl filled with softly glowing crystals. Pictures hung on the walls, some were even old photographs.

The man seated at the desk was wholly plain looking. So plain looking in fact that he may have been overlooked entirely except for the fact that he wore actual glasses on his face.

Korczak rose and said “Ensign Little, I take it? A pleasure. I am Lieutenant Commander Korczak.” and he held out his hands to the new arrival. “Please, have a seat. Would you care for anything to drink?” he asked politely. The man’s voice was clear and easy to understand, but his accent was certainly unique… as if two wholly unrelated accents were vying for supremacy, but neither one was dominant.

“Yes, Sir. Thank you, Sir. Lemon tea is fine, Sir.”

Tom took a seat with the bag down aside. Star-fleet officers were allowed to decorate their rooms. He has seen some on the training ship. The room spoke to itself of the owners, the culture they came from, especially. This room so far told him that this was a place to relax. Nor experiments or surgeries. He was a little surprised by the facto that the office was very similar to the last ship he trained. Even though this one was older, the concept remained the same. Perhaps they all had the same protocols to be like that. Or simply, they came from the same instructor. He thought. Although, the window was still a laxury for a lower-decked crew.

The glasses on his face reminded him of the last CSO he had. He was a fine doctor who had to be promoted to a different specialty, which he wasn’t confident about at first. The last mission went … not so good. Back to the present, he was ready for the psych evaluation.

Korczak brought two cups of tea and set them down on the table between them. “So tell me, Ensign… what brings you to my door before you have even dropped off your bags?” he asked with a slight smile. “You do know that you have 48 hours to check in, don’t you?” and he laughed a short, soft, dry laugh.
