“Commander, with your aproval, I think I can get all the kids and us back on the ship. That is unless you want us to continue looking for any more survivors.” Mike reported. Personally he had enough of killer robots for once, and he doubted a bit there was anyone else alive to find.

Nevin was moving from one child to the next ensuring that they were medically fit and offering words of comfort.

“I believe that all of the children will be here, so let’s get them back to the ship. Can you access the internal sensors from that console?” he asked. Given Mother’s behavour he didn’t expect there to be any survivors but they at least needed to use every resource at their disposal to be certain.

The AI laughed, “dO YoU ReaLlY ThInK thAT it wIll bE thAt EAsy? EVeryOnE elSe is dEAd, and sOOn you wilL BE As WEll.”

The console started to heat up as excess energy was being funnelled into it, apparently the AI knew exactly what they were up to, and although she could stop them by sending the kill code, there were other ways to stop them as well.

“OK, we’ll scan from the Viking,” Nevin called loudly for everyone to here.

=/\=Akorem to Viking, now would be a good time for a lift!=/\= he said.

Perhaps it was the reaction of the AI, or the fact that the hum of equipment suddenly shifted, but as the console heated, she was heading that direction before anyone touching it reacted. “What’s happening, Stone?” She had the feeling the AI would try something, she just hoped he would figure out what it was before they all were blown to smithereens. She lowered her voice so the others wouldn’t hear the panic that was growing on the back of her neck and creeping up her spine. “We have to get out of here. What do I need to do with these folks?”

Given the chance, she would gladly hold the door open, so to speak, to get everyone out. The trouble was, she had no idea where the ‘door’ was or how to get them all thru it. And all the yelling of plans had alerted the AI. Why couldn’t they have just understood her ‘don’t yell it out’ order and understood why? She sighed again and growled under her breath.

Although the console was heating up, there were still messages being displayed, such as, “WARNING, AI CORE OVERHEATING, ACTION ADVISED! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESET COOLING CONTROLS ELSE CORE WILL BE FORCED TO RESTART.”

Another message being displayed was, “ALTERNATE AI CORE DETECTED IN VINICITY, PLEASE REPLACE CORRUPTED CORE TO PREVENT MELTDOWN.”

Mike might have looked calm, but his eyes were almost furiously searching for a solution, as he watched the console. “The alert message is telling me not to reset cooling, but I think that’s exacly what needs to be done. Unless....” He turned his head towards the woman, still holding the android’s head. “Quickly give that to me.”

The head was quickly handed over, and while the woman had an apprehensive look on her face, she knew better than to argue in a situation such as this.

Was he replacing one evil with another? He thought to himself. The robot did seem friendly, unlike the hologram that streight up murdered anyone it came close to.
Placing the severed head on the console, he decided to try and transfer the alternative AI core. If that wouldn’t have a quick effect, there was also the emergancy cooldown. But would the hostile AI reset to it’s non hostile version? That he wasn’t sure of.

=/\=hold on just a few more minutes commander. Getting in position to receive you=/\= came the Captain’s voice over the comm.

Nevin was gathering the children into a group and counting them…

-Akorem

“Just don’t beam all of us up at once using out teleporters! ” Stone yelled hoping the comm would pick his voice. There was true terror in his eyes for the first time since they entered the station. Killer AI’s and mad robots with weapons he could deal with, unreliable Viking’s equipment… he feared that a lot more.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

Kalika heard Mike’s panic. ==Captain… I recommend three groups. Leave Stone and myself till last.== She hoped her own comm got thru.

She understood Stone’s fear. That many in a single transport beam would be suicide for half the group, she was sure.

She just hoped her suggestion wasn’t going to have the same results. She separated the kids into three groups and set adults or oldest kids with each to help calm them. She kept reassuring them, but wondered if it was more for her own benefit.

Meanwhile, the transfer between the head and the core had begun. Already, the effects could be seen as the hologram started to switch between the corrupted form, and a smaller blurry form, “NO! I YoU Can”T DO ThIS ToME! I AM THE ONLY ONE YOU CAN PROTECT THEM!” Warning klaxons started to blare as a male voice came over the facility comms, “Warning, core transfer entering stalemate, please activate the emergency override.” Underneath the core, a console lit up, with a large button on it. The only issue was the fact that the struggling AI was between them an it.

The Squid Kid (GMT)

Nevin wanted to stay with the children. He indicated for both Mike & Kalika to get to the emergency override going in opposite directions around the AI in such a way it could only get to one. He and the NE Doctor would remain with the children blocking the AI’s access to them…

-Akorem

Mike went to the other side then Kalika, and decided to make as much noise and fuss as possible, to distract the failing AI.

“How are you protecting the children, by sloughtering their parants and everyone they know. They will be scarred by this tragedy all their lives. Did you plan to just keep them in stasis pods all their lives? Or what were you planning to do once they grew older and became adults? Slaughter them as well? Your algoritems are all faulty and corrupted…” When it pours it pours… It seemed like Mike didn’t need to breath for those several minutes that he simply let the AI hear everything he thought about the situation. Even if AI went after him, he would move out of the way, but he would not stop speaking. Suprisingly there were no curses, as he let the AI know exacly what he though of her motherly instincts.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

The AI froze for a second, as the processing power of fighting the transfer and processing what Mike was too high for it to continue moving.
