Being a CE is great. You can plan your work however you like. And today Mike was more then with engineering busy with preparations for the evening, where he wanted to prepair a night not easily forgotten for the woman he fell in love with - Kristi.

Booking a holosuit was easy. He was good with programming as well, and the Viking’s database was well stocked with anything you can thing of. Sadly for him.. the database was too vast and he needed help.

What better place then the Science labs. As he entered, the place was busy with people.

“Hi, I’m looking for someone who knows a lot about astronomy.” He said to the nearest person present.

OOC: If anyone wants to give Stone a few astronomy tips this is a good place to tag yourself in. Sadly we have no actual sci officer on rooster.

LT. Mike Stone, CE

OOC: Moving things along…

IC:

After being brieft to various astonomical phenomenons, and sights, Mike had a better idea what to prepair for Kristi. Sure he knew before about comets, meteorites and nebulas, but now he knew which one to look for that were the most interesting to see.

From the science lab, he went to the Mess hall, to get some sandwiches they could nibble on, while the simulation would play.

When he finally reached Holosuit 1 he asked: “Computer, what time is it?” “6.30pm.” The computer replied coldly.

“Damn, that late already? Computer lock the doors. If anyone is trying to enter play following message: The program is being prepaired. Please wait a bit, as soon as it’s ready i’ll come outside. End message.”

He then set to work on the scene. The objects he wanted weren’t hard to find. A viking-class ship, just like theirs. Only mint condition unlike their ship. Outside it’s hull, breathable atmosphere, so they could sit on it’s hull and observe the stars. In the distance he programed nebulas to fly by, a supernova to eruption in the distance, meteor shower… all effects would be visible only and would play out after a few minutes, to be replaced with something else.
He added a few features into the ship’s hull, that a real ship would never have or need. Who’d need a jacuzzi pop out of the hull? In space the water would evaporate immediately. But the holosuits could be anything you could imagine.

“I wonder if she’ll be brave enough to try it out.” He said to himself, then checked the time. It was a bit past 7 already.

Saving and ending the simulation for now, he opened the doors and went to check, if Kristi was anywhere around already, or if she was being late again.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

Kristi had arrived a few minutes early. Trying to holosuite’s door and receiving the message, she waited. Leaning on the wall across the hall and smiling. As Mike stuck his head out, she smiled. “Evening.” Walking over to stand in front of him, she kissed his lips softly then pulled back. “If you need more time, I can wait.”

Shaking his head Mike and looking almost shocked she could suggest something like that, he immediately replied “I can’t keep a lady waiting.” It was a fact that he hated being late. If possible he always made sure to always arrive a little early.

“I’m done with the simulation. I’m sure it can still be improved, but a test run shouldn’t hurt.”

He led her onto the hull of the viking-class ship and towards the bridge. There, a large blanket was layed out, with a picknic basket. “The guys at the lab were also very helpful, the view from here should be fantastic.

Once they reached the blanket, Mike motioned Kristi to take a sit. While real duranium hull of the ship would be quite hard, Mike made sure it felt softer then real.

“What do you think? The ship can always be replaced by something else. Grass, a beach, maybe moutains…”

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

When she stepped in, Kristi took a moment to catch her breath. “MIKE!” she half whispered with impression in her voice. “This is amazing.”

She followed him and took the seat on the blanket. “How..?” She laughed and looked at him with a huge smile on her face that made her eyes shine. “This is perfect.” She patted the blanket beside herself. “Come join me…” the invitation was genuine and the look in her eyes reinforced that.

“Well you talked about the stars, and I know you like this ship… to make the holosuit display what you want is actually simple. Our database is huge. Knowing what you want is more of a challenge for most people.” He replied almost embarrassed. “The guys at the science lab were quite helpful, i think the show should be good.”

“Computer start the simulation.” He ordered.

Until now the stars around the ship looked like tiny dots. As the simulation started, they began to move past them, giving an impression the ship was flying through space. A lot of the blackness was replaced with colorful dots, and they would grow bigger to reveal various nebulas. The butterfly, Orion, crab nebula and many more. They would appear on various parts of the sky and not all at once. It wasn’t actual picture of the space, but rather collection of beautiful sights, intended to impress. Twice a small meteor shower was programmed to pass by as well, and a few other surprises. Mike observed his work for a minute, then looked at Kristi with a smile on his face.

As the ship ‘moved’ Kristi actually grabbed Mike’s hand as if to stabilize herself. Realizing how silly it was since they weren’t actually moving, she laughed and let go. “Sorry. Sometimes I forget.” As the show started, she lit up even more than a moment ago. As the various actions and scenes occurred, she shook her head and whispered. “Well, you certainly knew what I wanted.” She was laughing like a child as she rose up to move to the ‘edge’ of the ship. Standing there so nothing obstructed her. One hand rose as if she could touch the stars. The projections passing by as her hand went thru the light show was almost as exhilarating. Within a couple minutes she was laughing like she hadn’t in years.

Kristi
(Like a kid suddenly inside a Christmas tree)

Pouring two glasses of synthetic champaigne, Mike stood up and joined behind her. “Don’t worry, you can’t fall off.” He offered her a glass and observed the show a bit, glad it played as it was supposed to, but after a while, he just observed Kristi instead, how she was enjoying herself and slowly sipped on his drink. He was smiling, glad she loved it so much.

Nearly half an hour passed, when it was finally time for the finale. There was a comet flying past the ship, and it splintered into multiple fragments. After a few moments each of the fragments itself exploded in a bright display of color. In the distance a few of the stars, peaceful until now, simply went supernova. The white or yellow dot disappeared, replaced by a colorful circle of gases that expanded from it and leaving nothing behind. After the light went past the ship, the simulation started to run from beginning again.

“That’s that.” Mike commented. “I guess next step is to add some sound. Actual nova’s aren’t pleasant for the ears. Maybe the sound of fireworks going off would be appropriate.”

Mike, CE

She thanked him for the champagne and watched the sky for a moment longer. Just about to turn around, she caught sight of something happening. Then something else. Before she knew it, she was caught up in the ‘show’. As the finally exploded several stars around them, she reached up to hold Mike’s arm. Her head knew she stood in the closed room, but her mind was protecting her from falling off. She had even ducked a time or two as ‘debris’ wizzed by her head.

When it was over, she was standing next to Mike, her arm wrapped around his for balance and protection. She blushed as he mentioned sound and took a step away. “I like the silence. Space doesn’t have sound. That was amazing, Mike. Honest it was.” She nodded to the blanket and smiled. “Ready to eat?”

“Be my guest.” Mike motioned to her. ” You mentioned how much you like to see the space, so this was just a little something I made, so you could see a part of it a bit quicker. I take it that was why you joined the Starfleet? Are you satisfied with how much you got to see it for real so far?”

Mike knew that as an engineer your primary position was maintenance of the ship. Unless on an away team of if manning the bridge, there wasn’t all that much to see besides interior of the ship and all the jefferies tubes.

He took the plate with small sandwiches out of the picnic basket, and put them on the blanket. “Help yourself.” He added.

Mike, CE

She sat on the blanket and smiled. “I am glad, yes. I’ve gotten to see things most folks on Earth never will. And I consider myself fortunate enough to be part of something so much bigger than myself.” She blushed and took one of the sandwich halves. “Sounds naïve and silly, doesn’t it?”

Kristi
Eng

“Maybe just a little.” He teased her. “You can always find a few rotten apples. But all in all, I agree with you. I mean just look at The Viking… we’re barely struggling ourselves sometimes, but in the past year we’ve been sent on one rescue mission after another. And each one sucessful. I’d say we’re good to have around.” He said and smiled.

“Oh, I just remembered… there’s one more thing here ment for relaxation if you’re up for it.”

Out of the picnic basket he took out a small remote. After pressing a button, a hatch nearby opened, and out came a fully functional whirlpool. Steam rose from it’s hot water as it bubbled.

“The computer can simulate a bathing suit, but if you’re more old fashioned like me, there’s always the option to change as well.” Pressing another button popped out a small cabin with a curtain nearby.

Mike, CE

She laughed and moved to her knees to lean over and kiss his cheek. “You are the most creative man I know, Mike.” She laughed. “And yes, I think changing would be best.” She looked at him with mischief in her eyes. “You think we should? I mean, if word gets out that the top of the Viking sports a hottub, the rush for EV suit training may skyrocket,” she teased him as she sat there on all fours, close enough to kiss him again.

Kristi
Eng

“I do get creative if properly motivated.” He agreed. “Besides anything is possible in real life as well. If we only figure out how to keep water inside the pool in vacuum. We could patent it and offer idea to other ships. And make enough latinum to retire young.”

“Now hurry up and go change so I can go as well. The water’s getting cold.”

There was no real need for hurry. The whirlpool had it’s own heater, and could maintain the same temperature for as long as needed. Although Mike was a gentleman… he was still a man. While the curtain itself wasn’t see through, the bulb inside through made a nice silhouette. Not even for a second, could he take his eyes off of her.

“Best feature ever… ” he murmured to himself, transfixed.

“You look great.” He complimented her once she came out. “If you want you can get in already, i’ll only be a moment.” He stood up, glad that his blood was still circulating properly, and didn’t go… some other places too quick. Once inside the changing room though, he reduced the light’s brightness. He didn’t mind being seem, but if Kristi noticed that he could see her, it could kill the mood. Better play it safe.

Mike the voyeur :P
