After beaming aboard the starbase from the hospital ship USS Koch Ulric found himself wandering the promenade. It felt like a life time since he was last able to wander freely amongst people that wasn’t his doctors or other patients. The sensation of his new found liberty where at once both exhilarating and concerning. His affliction was totally in hand and he knew he had nothing to worry about, for now at least but still he did worry. you’ve got to get hold of yourself Ric, you’re about to be part of a crew again, A Security Officer, You can’t be a nervous wreck! He thought to himself. Soon he found himself outside a bar heaving with people both Startfleet and civilian alike. His first instinct was to walk on by there was far too many people in there, but he forced himself to go in and sit at the bar. “Raktajino, Please.”

A young, Vulcan woman in science blues was sitting a few stools over from ‘Ric’, turned with her back to the bar and unabashedly watching the clientele. She was lean and tall for a woman and most unusual for most Vulcans, her hair was long, loose and wavy. Not unlike most Vulcans though, a glass of mineral water was held between her fingers.
She looked over at Ric curiously, noting his security stripes.
“You look like your waiting for something.” She commented in way of greeting. She had noted by his body language that he didn’t act as if the starbase was home or familiar so that meant he had to be waiting for a ship. Logic would indicate that it might well be the Viking, as it was for her.

Cherp’eng arrived on Starbase Halcyon via a very fast passenger transport. The ride was cramped and uncomfortable for the tall academy graduate, but he accepted the discomfort without complaint. His long legs allowed him to cover ground quickly as he looked for a place to sit as he waited for advice that the Viking had arrived.

He was used to the stares and the whispered comments, he didn’t like them, but he endured them. He supposed that was what his predecessors had to face, and they did so without complaint, and he would do so as well.

He came across an eatery and spotted a Vulcan store. From his time in Star Fleet Academy in San Francisco, he had discovered that he enjoyed the Vulcan soups most of all and they were closest to foods from his own world. He lined up, towering over most other patrons. Reaching the counter, Cherp’eng bent his neck and ordered a spicy soup, a bread roll and an iced mineral water.

Picking up his food order, Cherp’eng rotated his neck and saw space near a Vulcan and a human. Approaching them, he nodded his neck to them, “fellow Starfleet officers, may I sit with you? I am Cherp’eng, and I am waiting for my ship, the USS Viking.”
