Brenna picked up her bag, containing Luna and hurried away from her shuttle and towards sickbay. What a crazy way to be introduced to her new ship. But the sooner she was cleared for duty the sooner she could help with whatever crisis was going on.

She stepped into sickbay, iso-chip already passed to the nearest nurse with her medical file on it. “Lt Atoded reporting for on boarding exam.”

OOC: forgot my tag sorry

Andromeda showed up behind her. “Brenna! Welcome to the safe haven of the ship. Come on over.”
-Andromeda DeLion, CMO

Brenna laughed. “Andromeda! I’m really glad I’m familiar with Mythology class ships. Because the signs and LCARS displays are all WRONG. What in the world. When you mentioned practical jokes earlier I had no idea.” Luckily attention to detail was a well honed skill of hers. Her mentor made sure of that. And she’d studied her whole way out here.

She hoped up on a biobed, the bag next to her. Having stopped moving Luna poked her head back out of the bag her nose sniffing and twitching in all directions and finally settling on Andromeda.

Andromeda blinked. “There are signs now? Those must be fairly recent.” She held out a hand to Luna and whispered. “They can’t be that different to dogs, right?” Didn’t most animals want to smell people’s hands?
-Andromeda DeLion, CMO

Brenna smiled, “No all animals rely on their sense of smell. So in that respect Luna is no different from a dog. But if she feels threatened you’ll get kicked rather than growl or a bite. And rabbits are quiet. They don’t vocalize at all.” Luna was quite happy with the attention, her ears standing up straight and her nose wiggling looking for treats. “She seems like you. I gave the iso-chip with my medical records to the nurse. It also contains Luna’s as well. Though I’m not sure we have a veterinarian on board, though I hope so since pets are my job and I’m not an animal doctor.”

Lt. Cmdr Atoded, CoP

Andromeda tilted her head, running through the qualifications of her staff. “I know that Ensign Martens specialized in non-humanoid medicine, but I think that had more to do with non-carbon-based lifeforms than animals.” She shrugged. “I’ll get a reference book for now and put in an official request tonight.” She was used to making it up as she went along, why not rabbits next?

Brenna laughed, “Don’t worry too much. I’m supposed to have at least two staff under me so maybe I can require one to be a vet? It’s not like Luna is going to be the only animal on board. A shuttle will be arriving in the next few days with a whole menagerie of them.” This was going to be an interesting test of her skills. “So, Doctor, what do I need to do? Just sit here, stand on one foot and touch my nose eyes closed?” Brenna smiled, obviously joking.
Lt Cmdr Atoded, CoP

“Don’t be ridiculous. How are you supposed to stand on one foot if you’re sitting?” The other woman had been joking, but Andromeda was dead serious. “In the meantime, I’ll find someone to look at your rabbit.” She grabbed the nearest nurse, directing him to find her a book titled “How to be a veterinarian for dummies” and an ensign without specialization she could force to read it.
-Andromeda DeLion, CMO

Brenna smiled just a little. More of a humored, good natured smirk than a smile. She was going to like working with Delion. “Well yes that would be very hard to do while I am sitting.” She pulled out an extra iso chip and handed it to the doctor. “This is the results of Luna’s last exam. She’s in very good health.” Luna was stretching and wriggling in the bag, obviously bored with being stuck in there and wanting out to explore. Brenna stroked Luna’s ears for a moment to calm her and sat, relaxed, on the biobed waiting for the doctor to conduct her exam.

Andromeda raised an eyebrow at Brenna. “Balance test, go on.” Physicals were repetitive and boring, particularly the start of mission physicals. Everyone had already been checked out. She tossed the chip to a nurse who had wandered behind them, shooing him off to find someone to serve as interim veterinarian.
-Andromeda DeLion, CMO

Brenna hopped up and began to move through the balance test. She had excellent balance. She was no gymnast of course, but she could more than pass the test. These basic physical fitness tests were nothing compared to what she was usually put through. Her mentor would laugh, in that quiet way of hers, at the idea of how simple these routine checks were. She finished the test and waited for DeLion to tell her what she wanted to do next.
Lt Cmdr Atoded, CoP

Andromeda grinned widely. “Can you do a handstand?” She was distracted from the response by a rather tall Ensign approaching her, but she shushed him quickly. He’d learn not to interrupt her work.

Brenna stepped away from the biobed, to make sure she didn’t bump it, and in one smooth fluid motion touched her hands to the floor. Bringing her feet up into the air and holding the stand for a count of 30. Then with more control than necessary she righted herself with a grin. She hopped back onto the biobed. She took note of the ensign, but figured if it was important Dr. DeLion would do whatever she needed.
Lt. Cmdr Atoded, CoP

“Excellent. Your balance is beyond the last three people I asked.” Although seeing a Vulcan attempt a cartwheel had been hilarious. “This is Ensign Torvin, our new interim veterinarian. Congratulations on your new post Ensign.” Torvin blinked and then looked between the two women. “Thank you?” Not what he was expecting when he was told his Chief needed an unassigned Ensign.
-Andromeda DeLion, CMO

Luna sniffed the air, her ears twitching towards the humans around her. She eyed Torvin with doubt and then disappeared in the bag to bang the bio bed with her feet and then pop back out. Brenna handed Torvin a jar. “This is what she wants. Feed her a few.” The jar was filled with treats. “I don’t recommend letting her out of the bag though. She likes to run.” She glanced back at DeLion to see if she was done or what was next.
Lt Cmdr Atoded, CoP

Torvin nodded shakily and held some of the treats out. “Sir, I don’t work with animals.” He whispered to the two of them, and Andromeda grinned as she clapped him on the back. “You do now.” She turned back to Brenna and gestured for her to sit down, then pressed the button for the biobed to begin the scan. “Watching him work should be fun.”
