Xitt looked around and didn’t see everyone but thought that, what the heck, it was time to start. He looked down and scooped up the rabbit and the treats and set them out on the table as he said, “Hello everyone! I figured this is the best way to introduce myself and get to know each of you. Even if all of you aren’t here… I should address that. Maybe scold them?” He said outloud before his blue cheeks went a touch pink, “I said that out loud didn’t I? Anyways....” He cleared his throat and stood up. “I’m Captain Xitt Onnyubum, I’m the captain and I look forward to working with you all, who’s next?”

Xitt

“I am Lt. Drake Burcham, I am the Chief of Security, I look forward to keeping you all safe.” Lt. Burcham said to the group that was there, and then took a drink of his juice.
Lt. Burcham, CoS.

“I’m Andromeda DeLion, y’all’s CMO. Get your physicals.” She was brief and brusque, but she was actually quite pleased that he had called the meeting.
-Andromeda DeLion, CMO

Valentina had heard the call and turned around to head back to the meeting. She had just left the bridge not ten minutes prior and rolled her eyes wondering why the Captain hadn’t just put it in the passdown that he wanted a meeting. Shaking her head with a laugh, realizing a lot of things were done on the fly on the ship, she took it in stride and came in as the CoS was speaking. She took her seat next to the Captain as the CMO spoke up next, her hand reaching towards the rabbit as they went around the table.

Realizing things were never as they appeared on the ship, at least, more often than not, she chose to let the rabbit smell her hand before petting it. Last thing she wanted was the thing actually being some rare form of dog and losing an appendage or three cause of carelessness and ignorance.

Cmdr Valentina Bellini
XO

“I’m Brenna Atoded your new Chief of Pets,” she said it wryly. “Part of a new program being instituted and the Constellation was chosen to implement it. I’m looking forward to working with you all.” She had her work cut out for her. The idea was to give everyone on the ship a pet of some kind, to curb some of the outlandishness that was the Connie crew. But more specifically to provide a working companion for each officer to enhance their work performance as well. For instance, no one would know, but Luna’s cuteness and natural curiosity hide her ability to sniff out the use of subspace communicators. Her nose and sensitive ears would pick up on the ‘vibrations’ and she would alert Brenna to that fact. A Klingon Targ could be trained to support security work, or oddly enough as a therapy animal to keep patients calm in sickbay.

At the moment however, Luna was sniffing Bellini’s hand and head butting her to encourage her to get a move on on her attention of the small Mini Rex.
Lt Cmdr Atoded, CoP

Xitt was overjoyed at the crew happily introducing themselves. “This is just like at the academy during orientation!” He exclaimed excitedly. “So, I want to know what everyone’s favorite desert is. I am going to make it standard that we all take desert breaks during our shifts, how does that sound?” He looked around the room, not sensing that it might not be taken seriously as his crew looked at the jovial Bolian discussing the idea of a pie break all the while there was, ya know, a ship to run.

Xitt, CO

When Commander Bellini came in, Lt. Burcham slid the second cup of the fruit juice he had carried in with him toward her. Then he listened to the rest of the introductions. “Red velvet cake.” he responded, excitedly, as soon the captain was done talking.
Lt. Burcham, CoS

Valentina took the offered drink and smiled at the Security Chief. So far, it was he she had clicked the best with. Like her, he seemed less inclined to pranks and tomfoolery. She, like everyone, enjoyed a well rounded ship. But some of the pranks the crew was prone to… well, they would take getting used to. “Thanks,” she smiled and nodded to him and continued to pet the rabbit. It was soft and very accommodating to the attention.

“Well, guess I’m next. Valentina Bellini, your XO. And I guess my favorite dessert would be just about anything chocolate.” She wasn’t sure they needed a snack break every shift. After all, weren’t they adults and capable of eating before their shifts or simply maintaining the meal rotations most shifts had, anyway? But again, this was an odd ship and she supposed there were far worse things the CO could want to implement. So she remained silent about the idea.

Valentina
XO

About this time, O’Dell walked in. He was in his usual uniform with his knife in its holster (at least it was in the right spot), and he had a clean uniform. O’Dell still wore the insignia of the Terran Empire. It was a reminder of where he had come from (and maybe that he did not always belong where he was). However, he was stuck, and he had orders. His pips (and uniform) were mostly of regular Starfleet. You could see little touches that reminded him of home. As grateful as he was that Starfleet took him in, he was not 100% a regular fleet guy.

O’Dell

Valentina took note of the others as they came in and made a mental reminder to get to know them. O’Dell seemed like he was out of place and uncomfortable there. She felt that way a lot as well and wondered if there was another kindred spirit before her that could benefit from more friends, regardless of rank.

Brenna took note of those around the table, their names, positions, their body language (she was a trained counselor after all and that information would also help in identifying the correct type of pet for a person) favorite deserts if they chose to share. The later, because certain foods could be poisonous to animals, and because in her actual line of work, information was more valuable than latinum to a Ferengi. “Chocolate, anything chocolate,” she added to the desert list.

After finishing her examination of the XO Luna hopped along, her nose picking out a familiar scent and she made her way over to DeLion to say hello. She sat up on her hind legs, front paws flopping down, nose twitching, demanding the attention she felt she deserved from the CMO.
Lt Cmdr Atoded, CoP

O’Dell did not speak to anyone, after all in the Terran Empire those that spoke to much was not watching their backs. O’Dell simply nodded to each person as they entered the room. He did, however, think to himself, ‘I wonder if I can get an old earth drink called a Diet Pepsi from somewhere?”

O’Dell

Andromeda pet the rabbit absently, noting she behaved a lot like a small child. “My favorite dessert would probably have to be pumpkin pie.” It could be homemade with ingredients that never went bad after all.
-Andromeda DeLion, CMO

O’Dell heard the conversation about food and said, “I still think the best thing for dinner would be rabbit stew.”

O’Dell, CNS

Andromeda rolled her eyes. “That’s not a desert kid.”
-Andromeda DeLion, CMO

Brenna looked up at him, her eyes dancing. Luna turned around, as if she knew, and twitched her ears and banged her large back feet on the table, as if in challenge. “My dear Lt Cmdr, if you want rabbit stew I am happy to make it for you, but Luna is far too small, as I’ve said. Just give me the time and place, you won’t be disappointed.” O’Dell wasn’t the first person, nor would he be the last, to suggest Luna be dinner. And Brenna could cook, and it wouldn’t be the first time she made rabbit stew, and she had an amazing recipe for it, too.
Lt. Cmdr Atoded, CoP

After taking a seat and getting a gist of the conversation going on - it looked like they were talking about food. “I must admit, my taste buds are curious and so having a favourite is not easy,” Byr added to the conversation. “But for me nothing can remind me more of home than Shevt’ak, brings back some good memories,” he said with a smile that suggested there was a story behind it, that he wasn’t going to share at this moment.
