Asher was looking forward to this new posting, it was a chance to get out and rediscover his love for space exploration, he’d spent the last few years on Earth counselling the businessmen and council members of the federation but now it was time to get himself right in the thick of it before he got to old. Before his three year posting on Earth he did Five years on a deep space science base so this posting was in the realm of unknown territory.

He’d already undergone the mandatory familiarisation and agreed to abide by all the rules and so and so forth but he was now on his was to see the Captain, naturally found in the Captains Ready room ofcourse which is where he stood having just pushed the button to gain entrance. His own mission here was experience but also to help the crew of the USS Constellation, a ship who he had been told was held in high esteem.

With the sound of a whooshing Zarcal was startled, grabbed a rebreather and hurled it towards the unannounced guest. He said quickly, “Put that in your mouth now!” He watched as the pale yellow gas vented it’s way onto the bridge and shouted, “Sorry!” As the doors closed behind the newcomer he cleared his throat, this officer was one of the few who would see the Captain without his breather mask, as Zarcal removed his VISOR and grabbed his mask to put it on, the optical connectors engaging and the mask’s boot sequence was starting as he said, “Computer, set room atmosphere to Class M.” As his vision was restored and he sighed a little he said, “Lieutenant Miller I presume? Might I ask that you knock next time? How are your lungs by the way?”

Asher grabbed the rebreather and did as order his lungs and throat had started to grow instantly prickly but subsided as soon as the rebreather went to work. He watched as the Captain ‘changed’ and the yellow mist dissipate, he wondered why the door opened instead of alarming the chime which he intended. “Apologies sir, I must have fat fingered the console and opened the door instead of activating its chime.” he said before then answering, “They’re fine a little prickly.” He admitted.
