The turbolift doors closed with a hissing sound “Deck eleven.” Richard had a relaxed but strong posture with his hands at his sides. He noticed that there was no response from the turbolift and broke the lone silence speaking with a tone of irritation, “Um, hello? Deck ele....” He was interrupted by the ship computer’s voice, “Hello. How can I assist you Commander Marsh?” He sighed and replied, “Have this turbolift perform it’s duties and take me to deck eleven. Please and thank you.” The computer responded, “The turbolift was designed to transport members of the crew to all levels, however, it is not a member of the crew and has no assigned duties.” Richard rolled his eyes and now was getting aggravated, “Computer, open a channel to engineering.” The computer stated, “Channel open sir.” He announced calmly knowing it was not completely their fault, “Engineering team, this is Commander Marsh. Please have someone come to deck twenty one to fix the turbolift, it is being tempermental today.” A woman’s voice came across the comm, “Right away sir.”

He looked up at the ceiling of the turbolift, “Now lets see if you can do this effectively. Computer initiate site to site transport to the Counselor’s office on deck eleven.” His body instantaneously de-materialized and after a few seconds re-materialized directly in the in Counselor’s office. He placed both of his hands together shaping them take the form of a phaser pistol and bend his knees comfortably appearing like he was holding up the counselor. He wanted to break the ice with her via a practical joke, “Boarding party! Hands up!” He laughed for a moment and then realized that the computer probably transported him to the tactical or security office because he found himself standing toe to toe with a Klingon Lieutenant. Not that it was unheard of, but he had never met or saw a Klingon as a counselor throughout the duration of his Starfleet career. He would have to get the Engineering team to run a diagnostic immediately.

A Klingon of staggering size knelt beside a wooden crate, its crown torn viciously from the hinges and hurled against the far wall. She plunged a calloused hand into its splintered belly and – from it – pulled a sleek, tri-bladed weapon. Eleyr lifted it to the wall ornamented by arms of all designs and practices, from the ceremonial bat’leth honoured at its peak to the butter knife she’d appropriated from a “diplomatic” banquet (and now considered a true warrior’s weapon), and unleashed a pleased grin. But her glory was finite. The Commander’s unannounced arrival earned an enraged ‘Argh!’ as Eleyr whipped around, her fingers gripped about the d’k tagh’s leather-clad hilt. Fury danced within those dark eyes, the urge to pounce awaiting the slightest provocation.

He tilted his head slightly, grinned widely, shrugged his shoulders casually, and made a simple hand gesture as he communicated, “I apologize Lieutenant. The ship’s computer system seems to be having multiple struggles in functioning properly today. The turbolift was down on deck twenty one and I attempted to complete a site to site transport to the Counselor. We all love the mandated boarding mental health check ins right?” He smirked and extended his hand to the Klingon woman, “I am Commander Marsh, It is a pleasure to meet you. What is your name and department?” He was clearly brand new to the ship and had beamed directly into the office. Therefore, he did not see the entrance that confirmed that the computer had in fact transported him to the requested location correctly and he was the one with the issues in this case.

“You are lucky, Commander.” A roar of amusement erupted from her throat. “One more step and I might’ve mistaken you as my next meal.” She released her stance and swung her hand forward to reciprocate his human gesture. Only, the weapon remained restrained by her dark fingers. Knitting bushy eyebrows together, Eleyr shot a dissatisfied look at her hand and turned away to set the knife gently on her chair. “Apologies,” she cleared her throat and grasped his hand in a sharp, vigorous shake. “Lieutenant Eleyr, daughter of House Em’ujo,” pride infected her tone despite the somewhat incongruous title, “counsellor.”

Richard’s facial expression sold the scenario as being comically awkward with the long vigorous handshake. He grit his teeth slightly until she released her hand from his own. He wrung out his temporarily pink pigmented hand in the air at his side as it was now free from being squeezed like an orange when making orange juice from scratch. He provided Eleyr with a renewed look of confidence along with a firm nod of his head, “An honor to meet you Lieutenant.”

“I should say the same, Commander.”

Alright so Richard…no no no Cmdr Marsh gave her two days off, but Brenna was running on auto pilot. Since coming on board the Connie had been non stop work for her, and then with Valentina moving on to better things and Zarcal going on paternity leave, she was doing CO, XO, and 2O duty, plus all her other work. She was exhausted, but as she’d told Richard…No…Cmdr Marsh (that was going to take getting used to) the month hadn’t been bad just wearing. The new CNS was on board and so she headed to the opposite turbolift, to give herself space to breathe. She arrived on deck 11 and made her way to the counseling suite. And heard, “Boarding Party! Hands up!” And then “I am Commander Marsh, It is a pleasure to meet you. What is your name and department?” through the door. How did that man beat her here, and Geri and Fekri weren’t going nuts with having Fenris on the opposite side of the door. She pinched the bridge of her nose and closed her eyes, counting to 10. “Richard! Please tell me you did not just attempt to scare the new counselor by yelling ‘boarding party!’ Richard! If you scare off this counselor I’ll have your hide. She’s the 4th one in 2 months! Richard Marsh answer me!” In the mean time she was scanning for Fenris. Oh good lord. He was locked in the port turbolift, the ‘klingon’ one. “You left Fenris trapped in a turbolift! You promised!” She was too exhausted and worn out for this. She had bridge duty in 20 minutes....(yes she forgot he gave her two days off.).

Richard was startled as he peered his eyes at the door hearing the now familiar once again voice of Brenna. Did she place a tracker on him? How did she know where he was already? He scoffed at her whining about leaving Fenris in the turbolift. He realized he had made a mistake, but did not expect to hear from her again this soon. That woman was on him like white on rice at times.

A series of shrieks exploded from the hall, effectively tearing Eleyr’s attention from the Commander to the door. She tossed it an idle scowl before a smirk unfolded across her lips. “Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.” She clicked her tongue, a chuckle crawling at its edges. “First-name basis, Commander? You must be in trouble.” She turned on her heel, sauntering over the door with a quick slap against its ‘come in’ button. The doors swished open to reveal an imposing woman. Unmistakably Klingon by a sagittal crest and sinewy frame, Eleyr’s golden eyes burned with an untempered flame. And when she smiled, her teeth appeared carved in a fashion not unexpected of her people. Unnerving didn’t begin to describe it. “Hello,” she glanced over the woman with a slight frown. She seemed distressed. “You look like you could use a bottle of bloodwine,” she shifted to the side and released her hand in a gesture inside, “come in.”

– Lt. Eleyr, CNS

He looked up at the counselor, “Yeah sorry, she can be a little demanding at times, but the woman makes a fantastic second officer. I will never take that honor away from her.” He then grinned to ease the mood in the office a tad. “Actually, if either of us drank, I could use the bloodwine a bit more at this time. However, we do not, so water will do me just fine. In addition, Commander Atoded could more so use a nap at this point.”

Brenna took a very slow deep breath. “Lt Eleyr. I was coming to welcome you but I see I’m a bit late....” Richard’s words interrupted her....

As the doors opened to the office, Richard cut the encounter short right there, “Computer, site to site transport of Commander Atoded and the three huskies to the XO Quarters. Energize! Please and thank you computer.” He made direct eye contact with Brenna before she de-materialized, “Go get some rest, I will see you soon. You’re a doll.” He then waved at her casually, “Goodbye for now Commander Atoded.”

“Commander..” Eleyr raised a furry eyebrow and tended her head toward the space Atoded had occupied, a disapproving look once more assuming position on her lips. “If that’s how you treat a woman, we’re going to have a little chat about manners.” She wrinkled her nose and lifted a hand toward a gourd-shaped jar poking from another crate. “You even denied her the decency of glorious Targ jerky for her travels.”

What? What did he just order the…and she was gone in a swirl of blue. ‘Rick,’ and she only called him Rick when she was mad. ‘I am too tired for your games today. What…CRAP!’ her voice faded from his mind. She was in his quarters. Which was fine with her. She’d go poking around except for one thing. A very very frantic Fenris. He’d been ordered to guard Richard and his charge had disappeared. Fenris was racing the room tearing at the door and was now using his massively powerful jaws to rip the moving crate apart. He could smell Richard’s scent on the items inside. It was a scary and overwhelming situation for Brenna. Betazoid’s could sense the emotions and passions of animals, and often could get lost in them. It was only years of training and working with dogs like Fenris, Geri, and Fekri that allowed her the sense of self to not help the dog rip open the crate in panic. Poor Fenris thought Richard was trapped in there. =^=Computer lock onto K9 Fenris and transport immediately to Counselor Eleyr’s office!=^= Once Fenris was gone she sat on the floor, head between her knees, till the spinning stopped.

The ship’s computer randomly replied, “YOU’RE WELCOME COMMANDER. TRANSPORT COMPLETE.”

Richard pivoted off of his back left heel and faced Eleyr once again, “Sorry for all of the commotion Lieutenant. Now, shall we begin?” He then realized that he sent Commander Atoded to his quarters, “Damn, did I just transport her to my quarters? I meant to say ‘2O Quarters’. That is what I get for being rushed and using slang apparently. I have the utmost confidence that she will find her way from here though. I do have dog hair free pants now after all.” Richard smirked.

“Ha—” Eleyr’s attempt at a response was interrupted by the faint haze on impending transportation. Eye’s slightly bugged, she leaned back on her heels.

A moment later, Richard was on his back pinned by the massive 58 lb Siberian Husky who was growling in so low a register it couldn’t be heard. His nose taking in all the scents in the room, his eyes scanning until he knew for sure that his new found ‘Dad’ was safe and unharmed. Once he did, Richard was gifted the unbounded and overwhelming experience of a dog who has not seen their owner in a century. Tongue lapping, tail wagging dangerously fast, and happy shedding filling the room with dog hair and dander.

Hair bathed her office in varying shades of grey and white, permeating her walls with the distinct musk of an excited pupper. Eleyr was rapturous. Dogs were worthy companions whose presence begged a dopamine rush. There was no better aroma, in her humble opinion, to soothe her patients. Without mention of her epiphany, Eleyr squinted at Richard. “Ahem,” she coughed, “you were saying about dog hair…?”

— Eleyr, CNS

Richard shrugged his shoulders casually in response to the dog hair and was ready at this point to get through this already wildly entertaining counseling session with a Klingon. Attending Starfleet counseling sessions was not his favorite required past time over the duration of his career. He tilted his head slightly and met Eleyr’s gaze, “Anyways, Lieutenant, Moving right along. I am here for my boarding counseling session.”

He wanted to keep her on task as he had already been there for a little bit, “Did you have any questions for me? Do you do talk first? Do I talk first?” He had a look of curiosity spread across his face, “Are we going to battle with on another to evoke my feelings on psychological issues? I love a great fight!” A wide grin came across his face in response to his thoughts of the prospect of that idea actually playing out here in her office.
