He leaned downward and returned her kiss, he loved it when she did that on her own volition. Richard had always felt that she was a fantastic kisser. Their chemistry and connection was perfectly in sync on a consistent basis. He extended his left hand downward as he patted and rubbed her tummy in a gentle manner, “Are you not at all hungry Brenna? I promise that you will not eat any textiles sleepy head. They are not in my diet either, in fact, that would be quite lethal to eat since I am not a trash compactor. Pajamas are clothing that are worn to bed, I can replicate a nice pair in your size. If you are not hungry, we can just lay down and relax. What would you like to do?” He smiled at her providing her with the choice. He stepped forward and kissed her forehead softly, “If Brenna wants to snooze, then that’s what she can do.” He then pulled her in for a nice warm hug of assurance that she could do whatever she desired for their evening and he would still be there to join her. The intimacy with Brenna made him smile, it was nice to feel loved once again.

She laughed slightly, his light touch making her ticklish. She swatted his hand away futilely. “Yes I’m hungry, you said you getting food.” She wrapped her arms around his waste, resting her head against his chest as he hugged her. She wasn’t this tired when she’d sat down on his couch earlier in the day. Such was the body’s reaction when it finally gets what it needs, in this case-sleep, she would stay tired until she got all the sleep she needed. “I’ll let you replicate me pajamas, but it better be comfortable. None of that crap from Risa’s Secret Closet.”

Richard was comforted by Brenna’s warm and loving embrace as he gazed down into her eyes listening to her humorous commentary about him replicating pajamas from Risa’s Secret Closet. He smiled down at her and responded, “Of course the pajamas will be comfortable. I mean look who you are talking to in the first place. Why would I ever consider replicating PJs from Risa’s Secret Closet? That would prove to be catastrophic to say the least.” He winked in a casual manner at Brenna. She was adorable when she was exhausted and was ideal company overall.

A fuzzy head, then two, and then a third appeared, wedging themselves between them. Three sets of pitiful puppies eyes stared up at them. She patted each one in turn. “I think the kids are hungry too.” He said he’d take care of the dogs, but…”Watch. Fekri, Nimm Futter.” Fekri let out a patterned growl and then the replicator swirled to life. A dog bowl appeared, except that the bowl had a strange handle. Fekri, on hind legs, grabbed the handle in his mouth and moved away. Geri and Fenris repeated the process. “Now you can cook.” Brenna grinned a teasing note to her voice, “I’m going to sit on the couch and drink that imitation hot chocolate you gave me, Mouse Heart, and try to wake up a little.” She made her way over to the couch, picking up the blanket that had dropped to the floor. She sat, legs tucked underneath her, blanket wrapped around her. She picked up the still hot coffee in one hand, pushing the heavy fall of her hair away from her face with the other. She sipped the coffee, the aroma invoking memories that made her smile. Her right hand resting on the couch found the compass she’d dropped, she picked it up staring at it, but not opening it. She closed her eyes, head back, occasionally sipping at the coffee.

Richard’s eyes darted to the replicator and watched as the dogs literally prepared their own meal. He pinched Brenna’s side in a flirtatious manner, “Brenna the dog whisperer, that will save the two of us some time when in a rush to get things done. The boys can literally survive on their own assuming the power does not go out. We can take them camping and teach them survival of the fittest.” A grin came across his face in result. While he listened to Brenna talk, he stepped past the dogs devouring their food and approached the replicator to begin preparing their meal.

She shook her head. “There’s back up food in the Emporium, for all the animals. Just like we have rations. The other animals can’t order their own food though.” A teasing grin flit across her face, though if asked she wouldn’t be able to put words to the reason for it. But she was rather content at the moment, Richard wasn’t blocking his thoughts from her and so she was able to feel what he did. And his constant humor at life and himself was like a favorite chair to curl up in.

He looked down slightly at the replicator, “Computer, make three cinnamon hotcakes with cream cheese frosting along with three pieces of bacon with maple syrup applied.” The computer replicated his meal and he set the plate off on the counter, “Computer, make two chocolate chip hotcakes with three pieces of bacon along with chocolate syrup applied.” Brenna’s meal was instantaneously replicated and he carried both plates to the coffee table in front of the couch setting the plates down.

She opened her eyes and grinned as she listened to him order her meal. Chocolate! Brenna took the plate setting it in her lap and though chocolate was her favorite she ate slowly, savoring it. She swirled each bite of hot cake in the chocolate and savored it. The bacon was crispy just like she liked. She ‘mmmmmed’ with each bite. It was just good, and it was warm, for some reason she was still chilly.

He glanced at Brenna, “Go ahead and dig in. I will get you a nice cool Earth breakfast beverage.” He went to the replicator one final time, “Computer, two tall glasses of orange juice, no pulp.” The two glasses of orange juice appeared, he picked them up, and carried them to the table setting them down in their respective places. Richard sat down at the couch next to Brenna and turned to her, “Looks delicious doesn’t it? I know how much you love chocolate.” He picked up a piece of his bacon and ate half of it in one bite chewing politely, “Mmmm, this is fantastic. It is not the real deal, but close enough. How is your meal Brenna?” He raised an eyebrow in curiosity of her opinion on her breakfast for dinner.

One of her other favorites were these old Earth treats that were chocolate covered oranges. This was almost as good. She took a dripping chocolate bite of the hot cakes and followed it by the orange juice. Brenna was quiet most of the time: the saying went, ‘it must be good no one is talking’ applied. She finished her bite before replying. “It’s very good. Thank you.” She finished and set the plate and glass back on the table. She turned to the side so she could face him. She leaned her head to the side on the couch while he finished. She wasn’t blinking for falling asleep, though she could feel the need catching up with her. When he was finished she contemplated him a moment before moving so she could lean against his side. Her elbow almost knocking into him, making him dodge the movement while she adjusted the blanket. The compass fell out of the folds and she picked it up in one hand, not opening it. She rubbed her thumb over the surface. She handed it to him, her voice slipping into his mind, ‘Richard?’ She wasn’t sure what to make of it.
