[SNIP]

Ch’otok got a message for his predecessor and decided to report in his stead. The crew might not remember the last month but between a temporal anomaly that came about when a pioneering ensign decided to shoot a subspace pocket with a concentrated beam of electrons at 1.24 meV. At least that’s what the ensign reported.... The ensuing time loop revealed that the ensign replicated a microwave, transported it into the pocket and remotely hit the ‘popcorn’ setting. The ensuing temporal collapse lead to a month where they repeated the same day over and over, Zarcal was about to retire back to Janus IV with Rhyolite and Ch’otok was to take over the command after his appointment from the chancellor in cooperation with Federation high command.

Well after pulling themselves from the phenomenon that was their pocket of temporal subspace, Ch’otok and Zarcal changed command but seemed to be the only two that knew about the change! As far as either man (with a helpful gurgling from Rhyolite) could figure, the microwave radiation caused a slowly expanding shockwave of temporal collapse that the Connie was stuck in. The only thing saving both men and Rhyolite is that, for some inexplicable reason, Rhyolite had urped on the men and now all three had a thin film of Horta spit up that burned yes, but seemed to protect their faculties from the effects. After the shockwave dissipated each member of the crew went back to exactly what they were doing prior to the lost month, just now with a new Captain.

He was going to have plenty of folks with plenty of questions, and he would answer them in time. He tapped his badge and with his deep collected voice he said =/\= This is Captain Ch’otok of the USS Constellation, I know you’re expecting Zarcal and I have much to fill you in on, however I will meet you and Commander Marsh in the ready room =/\=

Ch’otok, CO

Ch’otok? Captain Ch’otok? She knew the name and the voice well it had been awhile. She entered the ready room and stared at the massive Klingon across from her. There was the ever present sense of peace and comfort that always surrounded the man she’d met many many times. But what was he doing on the Connie and where was Zarcal? If he was here with her here as well T’Jal had a reason. So something was up. And she knew him well enough to not try and get him locked into the brig. She approached the desk. Now normally she’d go with a formal introduction but Marsh wasn’t here yet, so she felt comfortable addressing the question outright. Oh, this was going to be a personal problem....She was going to have to keep secrets from Richard. Maybe, but if she was required to do so, then she had her duty. “Cpt. Ch’otok?” A single brow raised, so much like T’Jal and Casela, they had all picked up that habit. “I’m surprised to see you here.”

The middle aged Klingon chuckled as he said, “Well you can count me surprised as well. When I got the call it wasn’t anything like what I had expected in retirement, and I’ve been onboard for a month but no one knows it. Zarcal and I had a great time and Rhyolite is so adorable, but thanks to an antique microwave and a temporal bubble I’m making first impressions when I’ve worked along side these folks for weeks now. Anyways.”

Brenna’s eyes went wide at that. Now that what ever temporal error had occurred they would have to get the crew to check the ship to make sure everything was fine. Then a thought popped into her head, “You still like Grass Vipers? I’ve got a couple down in the Pet Emporium.” Then she looked around, “Is Casela with you?” Brenna would expect that she would be, Ch’otok and Casela usually worked together and to not see her here in the room was odd…or perhaps she was somewhere else on board?

“I have a report for you and Cmdr Marsh about that stasis pod we brought on board. Engineering and science is going over the pod with a fine tooth comb. I’ve ordered Lt Burcham to keep the man under watch. He’s not said anything nor responded in any way to direct attempts to speak to him. But his mind.” She pauses and for anyone else it would be the equivalent to a shudder of revulsion and fear. “He has very clear memories of commiting very sadistic and violent acts. It is possible being alone in space so long has broken his mind or these are real memories. Further evaluation is needed, but I feel it would be prudent to keep him secure.”

Lt Cmdr Atoded, 2O

“Zarcal was telling me about that pod, although he didn’t know about the telepathic side of thing. I agree, security is of key importance here.” Ch’otok noted as he looked around the room and said, “Computer… how long does it take to get to my ready room?” The computer returned “Unable to answer question” and Ch’otok waved it off as he turned to his 2O. “Is my XO always this late?”

Ch’otok, CO

“Well as far as time goes, I just obtained the information and hadn’t informed Zarcal or Marsh yet. Probably that time loop. And no. I’ve never known Cmdr Marsh to be late or not report when summoned immediately. Or at least use the com system.” Of course it had been 8 years, but he wouldn’t be First Officer if he wasn’t still an outstanding officer. “That’s very strange.” =/\=Computer where is Lt Cmdr Marsh?=/\=

Atoded, 2O

=Commander Marsh is on the Bridge.= the computer replied.

-GM

=^=Lieutenant Teebo to Bridge,=^= a dubious electronic voice came over the comm system. =^=Captain… we’ve completed an estimate of the pod’s origins. Sir… it’s from Earth… and you’re never going to guess how old it is.=^=
—Teebo, Chief Engineer—

Ch’otok looked at his 2O and raised an eyebrow, somewhat awkwardly before chuckling. “That’s never really been my style I have to say, can’t quite pull off the Vulcan look of curiousity” He said, “Lieutenant Teebo, is this a conversation to have over the coms or should we make our way to you?”

Ch’otok, CO

Brenna chuckled, “Too many years exposed to it by the Admiral. It’s kind of forced on you during that first year of training.” As they waited for the reply from Teebo to come in, “What did our mutual friend,” she was of course referring to Cas, “Think of you coming back to full active duty? Or is she unaware as of yet?”

Atoded, 2O

=^=Not much left of the pod to see, sir,=^= Pit noted sheepishly. =^=Chief says he’ll upload the data and mosey your way in a spell. Teebo out.=^=

Sometime later, the keb waddled in and stared up at the officers before moving to a vacant seat. It took a bit of effort and a small burst of indignation before Teebo could set his PaDD down. Claws clacking against the screen, he cued up the information he’d gathered from the pod as well as the astrogational projection. Hisses and crackles sizzled between thin scaled lips as the keb considered the information. As he did, the silver disk clipped to the frilled bandolier across his chest began to whir thoughtfully. A moment later, its edge blinked and a voice purred out.

“So-o-o, any development with our popsicle pal down yonder,” Pit asked jovially. “Chief’s still a mite tizzied with the trail that ol’ tin can tumbled along. Conjure we could verify our findings with… whoever our new friend might be, assuming his chewer’s thawed.”
—Teebo, Chief Engineer—
