The mouse squeaked “At the engineering shed…there are paper and pins there.” She said and then confirmed the Chief Engineer’s suspicions “But they aren’t here…someone else came in and is running this.” She said leading teh group off “Move quickly, they are starting to make their rounds again, we must be to that tree line before they see us.” The mouse said running off as the crew was once again cut off by the white rabbit “Oh dear, so late. The queen has a beheading to do…must get the executioner.....” As he ran off he called back “Red or Blue your choice to make....”

Gremlins Mouse

“Cardassians? Executioner? Red or Blue? Am I the only one who is completely confused here?” Aaron asked. “I’m still not following what’s going on entirely, but…uh…I want us to live.”

Aaron Michaels, CO

“And you all thought we Ferengi were hard to deal with. I do not make any sense in what they say. I know what language they are speaking and I understand the words but cannot put it together.”

Gong’da CMO

“Humans always did have some strange stories - I mean - a talking rabbit!” Byr said to himself. There was something going on here, he wasn’t completely familiar with Earthen literature, but he had heard a little about the ancient story Alice in Wonderland. “The book didn’t really make much sense either,” he commented with a shrug.

Ensign Byrnarterro Ch’riaqer, Science

“The red queen uses an executioner to chop of the heads of multiple characters in the novel. The Cardassian emitters were probably brought here by those who took over” he waved his hands around “This. The red and blue is a little tougher to decipher, it’s most likely a different reference which can be explained with a simple split: Blue is staying within this realm and red is seeing the truth and exiting.” He paused “Then, of course, that could just be my bias showing and could be a totally different thing. For now, I suggest we move on so we can get there unseen” He said for the first time not being the least bit jovial.

CSO

Gong’da looked at the CSO puzzled. “What?”

The mouse made it to the woodline in about five minutes. She stopped to catch her breath once everyone else was in the woodline, she pulled them further back “The Cardassians first came here, there are a few of them still around the palace.” She said “We have never seen the new ones that have taken over. They are worse than any cardassian i have ever seen.” She said “There are deaths every day, for minor things.” She said “We need a way out of here.” She said “If we can take these things down, I think that we’ll all return to our original forms. At least I hope so.”

She looked at Gray and Byr “You’ll see that there are lots of valuable things here. In the shed you will find scanners, you can tell us what you find.” She said as the ground rumbled......”Oh dear.....” She looked around trembling.

Mouse

Emily looked at everyone “Okay…So....take down the emitters, find out who’s doing this and stop them....Easy peasy.” She muttered as she looked out back the way they came and saw some guards coming toward them. She touched Aaron’s shoulder and pointed at the guards and shushed everyone.

CE

Byr’s antennae instantly turned to the direction that the CE indicated and he quickly looked around for a rock or ledge to hide behind or below.

Ensign Byrnarterro Ch’riaqer, Science

Gong’da just took a knee. Since he was so short already, it made him almost invisible. But he now could not see what was happening and would have to rely on everyone else for directions.

Gong’da CMO

NE Brown stepped on a branch and it snapped just as the guards were passing by, they stopped “Halt who goes there.” They demanded walking over toward the crew but not stepping into the actual woodline, everyone stood silently, waiting for them to go on their route. It took several more minutes before they moved on. Mouse looked at everyone “Seriously, you need to watch where you’re going.” She said “You’ll get us killed.” She turned and headed back off “Hurry, we must hurry, before they come again.”

The Mouse kept looking around her. as she lead the group through the woods.

Gremlins Mouse

Emily simply followed, she was going over in her mind exactly what needed to be done once they got to their destination.

CE

James was careful in his walk, he usually prefered to keep things light and breezy but the current situation called for a more serious approach. at Least for now.

CSO

The closer they got to the station, the more anxious the little mouse that was leading them got. To their left they could see a large palace like building, that was covered in red roses. Just outside the gates were small farms and other assorted buildings that looked dingy compared to the palace. The mouse suddenly squeaked as the Smiling Cat reappeared “What are you doing here. This is the forbidden area.” He said

Mouse

James smiled slightly “I think you’re mistaken, I’m fairly certain that this is the bidden area, where travelers can sneak in peace” His voice was quiet as not to garner any attention.

CSO

Byr’s Antennae pointed toward the cat as he looked up to where the voice came from seeing the smiling creature. Looking over to James, and hearing him respond - Byr went along with it. This was something from that book that he had mentioned, something about a smiling feline creature. If anyone knew what to do, he felt the humans knew the story the best.

Ensign Byrnarterro Ch’riaqer, Science

The Cat cocked his head to one side “No…you are mistaken....” He purred “This is forbidden....the last people that tried....well…don’t dig to deeply....the ground holds secrets you know.” He purred again and disappeared, leaving only a grinning mouth “Be ware the teeth that clack.” and then it was gone. As soon as it was gone, there was the sound of cracking branches to the left and right of the group.....were they being followed.

Mouse

Aaron turned, brandishing his stick like a 21st century swordfighter. After a few moments, he turned and quietly caught up with the group, staying close to them. “This is not what I thought I’d be doing on my first day in command of a Starship.” He whispered.

Aaron Michaels, CO

James looked back “I suggest we keep moving, let’s not make this yer last day” He considered the phrase ‘teeth that clack’. Since they realized the connection to Alice in wonderland he had been stretching back his memory to when he had read the stories as a young man. It was not a phrase he was familiar with but it could just be his memory failing or the fact that he never much cared for the story outside of it’s mathematical historical origin so he decided not to mention it, yet.

CSO

“Teeth that clack? Like those false teeth that you wind up and it opens and closes very fast like the ones used in Hew-Mon practical jokes? The XO oh, sorry. The Captain had one a while back. Stupid contraption.”

Gong’Da, CMO

“Why would you wind up teeth?” Byr asked the doctor, confused. He had heard about the story, but hadn’t read the book himself. Maybe he should have spent more time studying Earth Literature. “Well, I still want to check out that shed,” he said once the cat had cleared away and the place was quieter once more.

Ensign Byrnaterro Chi’riaqer, Science

Gong’da shrugged. “How am I supposed to know. You know that Hew-Mons have weird things. Beings like you and I are far superior in our practical jokes and comedy.” He said with a deadpan look.

Gong’da CMO

As the Ferengi and Andorian mocked humanity, Aaron mulled over the phrase ‘teeth that clack’ from him limited knowledge of Alice in Wonderland. “Nutcracker!” He whispered excitedly, “beware the nutcracker!”

Aaron Michaels, CO

The mouse squeaked “You don’t want to know about the teeth that clack.” She said “There there is the engineering shed.” As the ground rumbled again and there was a cracking of tree branches. There was a short distance between the wood line and the shed. Somewhere above them was a low roar and the sound of large wings flying overhead.

The mouse looked up and fell silent and pointed “The teeth that clack.”

Mouse

James looked up at the flying creature
“Ah: ‘Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!”
He looked back at the captain “No nutcrackers here, sir, although I don’t doubt that could crack nuts with ease.”

CSO

Gong’da whispered but was angry. “Well someone tell me what a nutcracker is and what that thing in the sky is? I am too short to see.”

Gong’da CMO

“A Nutcracker was a somewhat-popular toy–if you can call it such–in the 20th century on Earth. It have a moving jaw that would crack nuts if placed between it’s teeth. Here they’re alive. That thing in the sky is Jabberwocky. Let’s just say it likes to eat things. Like us.” Aaron said to Gong’da.

Aaron Michaels, CO

Emily looked at Aaron “I don’t think we should go as a group to that shed. There’s not enough cover for all of us at once.” She said taking in the sight before her “I can take one of the security officers with me and get in there and then everyone else can come one or two at a time.” She suggested “We just need to avoid the creature up there.” SHe looked at Aaron “What do you think?”

CE

The Mouse stood there and looked at them “We need to decide quickly.” She said as she eyed the flying creature. “The Hatter will try to keep the Queen busy fitting hats. But the guards will be coming around.” She said and took off on all fours across the field between the crew and the shed.

Mouse

“Bradford. Go.” Aaron said in a high whisper, pointing to a security NE, and gesturing for the man to go with her.

Aaron Michaels, CO

“On a not completely unrelated note that may also be the Jub-Jub Bird” He said with a sardonic smile “You know I would very much like to have a reading of the Jabberwocky once we get back home, it’s an excellent nonsense poem from the, in my humble opinion, far superior sequel to the book.”

CSO

“I’ll have to check it out when we get back to the ship,” Byr replied, he hadn’t read either of the books himself, but he had heard them spoken of by the humans at the academy. Now that it would seem it would have helped if he had taken up the recommendation to find them.
