OOC: I don’t know what the plan is here so I don’t know that we actually need to play this out, if we’re just meeting some Admiral in a bit, but it’s something to do if we want.

OCC: I apologize if things seem slow, I am attempting to get some characters established, this flight controller being one. However, I shall endeavor to speed things up.

OOC: Ahh okay, cool. If you need help with anything, let us know over email.

IC: Dvorak seemed to look Avik over and assess her words carefully. It seemed as if it was the first admission she ever made that she might not be fully ready to do anything, that there would be any relative weakness. I wonder why… he thought. Maybe I should read that file again…

“Practice makes perfect,” he said, getting up from the Command chair. “Why don’t you take us in?”

– Johann Dvorak, CO

IC: As the the ship prepared to dock, a light started to blink at the security station, indicating a possible security breach in the computer system.

-GMT

Avik’s eyebrow raised at the blinking at the security station’s alert. Her eyes turned to the CO, unsure if security could handle the breach in the computer system. Usually, this was the CE’s department rather than Range’s. The bad part was their new one hadn’t even arrived onboard and couldn’t deal with the issue until he or she did.

“Captain, computers indicate we have a Security breach in the computers,” Avik pointed out.

“What?” This was obviously a very unusual time to be having a security breach. Not that there was ever a usual time for a security breach. The Captain looked over Avik’s shoulder to see whatever it was she was seeing.

“Our new Chief Engineer hasn’t arrived onboard. My recommendation is to inform the dock and ensure our Chief Engineer is ready to board quickly. I can attempt to supervise the current Engineers until the new Chief Engineer arrives. We should also inform Range to be on alert because someone might’ve tried to board without authorization.”

It might’ve sounded a bit extreme, but Avik was being cautious. It struck her as odd that the moment they began to dock, a sudden security breach would’ve occurred. She hoped she wasn’t the only one that found it strange.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

“Yes, that makes sense. Let’s abort the docking maneuver until we know what’s going on. Call the starbase and request a parking orbit while we figure this out.”

“Helm, all stop.”

=/\= Bridge to Security, =/\= Dvorak put through the comms system. =/\= We’re detecting an intrusion attempt in the computer system. Go to a level two security alert. =/\=

– Johann Dvorak, CO

“Yes sir.” Avik answered immediately as the boarding procedures were stopped promptly.

After the CO made his orders, the XO contacted the starbase.

=^= “Starbase 51, this is the Europa. We have had a security breach in our computer system. Requesting permission to orbital park until we can determine the actual cause.”=^=

Avik relayed as she waited for a reply. She wasn’t sure the base would allow for the ship to park in obit while they scrambled to resolve the situation, but she followed the captain’s orders to the letter.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

=^=Roger that Europa, enter orbit at 38 degree azmith and you can hold position there. We too have been experiencing random security breaches. I’ll let Admiral Mcginnis know. Starbase 51 out. =^= The flight controller stated.

On the security station, the computer indicated that whoever was attaching the ships computer was trying a direct attack to gain access to the ships culinary database.

-GMT

Avik nodded then directed the helmsman to follow the coordinates. She then hit her badge comm summoning Engineering to the bridge, her figure moved toward the security station. She looked over the data to indicate what was being attacked. Her lips pulled into a long frown as she tried to reason the purpose of attacking the culinary data base.

OOC: Might need to use two NE as we haven’t any active Junior officers in that department.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

OCC: Yep

IC: Less than 1 minute after the XO started looking at the security system, the computer indicated that the attack had ceased. A few moments later, NJG Ritezer and NC Jameson entered the bridge. NJG Ritezer and her young crewman Jameson approached the XO at the security station.

“Commander, whoever attack our computer system used what is called a ‘passive cyberattack’ on our system. We don’t know who or why just yet, but it was an external attack, outside the ship. What they were after makes no sense either.” She turned and looked at the young crewman, she nodded.

“Sir,” He stated his voice sounding nervous. He was just a kid, no more than 19 or 20 years old. It was his first time talking to any member of the senior staff. “The attackers went straight for my grandmothers recipe for Chicken noodle soup. Why didn’t they just ask?”

-GMT

A young engineering ensign’s voice responded to Avik’s call for an engineer =^=Engineering here.=^= She said not sounding really nervous, just preoccupied and wondering where their new chief engineer was. She didn’t know anything about her, only knew that she was Bajoran.
