Matty stepped into the Bar and Grill and took a seat at the bar “Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and a cold andorian ale.” She ordered as she looked around the bar to see who all was present. She had heard that the Europa was arriving soon or had already arrived. She would need to find Dvorak and report for duty as soon as they did dock. She was excited and nervous about returning, her time on Bajor had been well spent, but she was ready to get back into the thick of things.

The waiter nodded as she took her order. “Any particular fries? We have a variety, including cheese, rosemary, bacon cheese are the most popular. We have a list here,” She said, pushing a few buttons on the console in front of her. A display came up on the table near Matty.

Moving through the starbase, Cassidy had a weird moment where she had to double-check Vora wasn’t with her. The last time they had been on Black Rock (which seemed a lifetime ago), Vora has been detained, released and then abducted. So she couldn’t quite help the slightly anxious feeling she had as she moved through the merchant area. Still, she was dressed nicely in off-duty clothes and had made the decision to enjoy some downtime.

But then she came across a place and noticed some of her crew mates there, so she decided to pop in. Abrams did a double-take and smiled. Though she didn’t know the woman personally, she recognized their old Chief Engineer and made a beeline for the bar. “Hey, Commander Sullivan, nice to see you again. What brings you out to Black Rock?”

A few minutes later the waitress brought out the food that everyone ordered. Archnie usual order was a cheeseburger with bacon and bacon cheese fries with a glass of Klingon blood wine. He immediately started eating his burger. Archnie then noticed the young Ensign Abrams.

“Greetings, My name is Archnie, click click, your medical officer has kindly allowed me to sit here.” he greeted her, a little bit of melted cheese hanging on a mandible.

Cassidy turned to the being and the first thing she thought, after having noted them before was that they looked like, and probably were, a giant spider… ready for Hawaii. He should have come to the Luau. “It’s nice to meet you Archnie,” she greeted. “I’m Cassidy. What brings you to Starbase 51?” It was a darn good thing bugs didn’t scare here, though she had to admit she had had to control her reaction just a big. After all, Archnie was huge!

Ensign Abrams, Security

“Hi Cassidy, click click, it is good to meet you.” He returned the greeting. “I am here, click click, seeking formal asslyum with your federation, click click. Your Admiral Mcginnis has kindly allowed, click click, me to stay while he awaits word from your, click click, diplomatic, umm. ” He seemed to be searching for the right word. “Core.”

Zeke was thinking that he rather liked this bar and grill. It was unpretentious. Yet the food was excellent.

“Asylum, you say?” Abrams remarked, her brain automatically shifting gears. “Where is it that you are from?” she asked curiously. it wasn’t everyday that you met an asylum seeker and this being was more than notable.

Ensign Abrams, Security

“Case,” Zeke corrected for the alien. “You have a diplomatic asylum case pending.”

Cassidy eyed the doctor. “No, I believe he means that the Diplomatic Corps is handling the petition.” She gazed back to Archnie curious to hear more.

Ensign Abrams, Security

Archie thought for a moment, English clearly wasn’t his first language. “The case is pending, click click, the diplomatic corp is handling it. Yes that is, Click click, it. Thank you.” He took bite of his fries. “I am fleeing from an attack on my people. Our defenses were overrun quickly, click click. My people, those that could, scattered. I ended up here.” He seemed to get a little nervous when he spoke, taking a look around the bar after he finished. Both Zeke and Abrams could tell he was a little scared.

-GMT

“Easy now,” Zeke said. “You should be plenty safe here. A star base is one of our most secure assets.”

CMO

Archie looked at the doctor. “Sorry, but that is, click click, what my wife and kids said before they were, click click, murdered. They were at my peoples primary military defense base click, click.”

-GMT

OCC: To clarify, this takes place after the ship docks with the space station.

“Im so sorry,” Cassidy replied with genuine empathy. “I hope you get an answer soon, but in my experience the Federation has a great amount of compassion for those in dire situations. I’m sure things will go in your favour.” She could only hope and she didn’t know the details of his case, but it seemed that unless there was something significant to bar an approval, Archnie would most likely get a ‘yes’ for a reply. It might have been idealistic but much of life in the Federation was just that.

Ensign Abrams, Security

“I’d think that whoever attacked you is a threat to us, as well,” Zeke said.

Archie nodded. “If I knew, click click, who they were, I would say.” He replied, taking another bit of his burger.

-GMT

“Okay…” Abrams said slowly with a nod. She was good about keeping her thoughts to herself but that detail seemed a bit odd to her. It wasn’t to say that she didn’t believe his situation was serious, just that it was… weird. An attack on a military base sounded like an internal matter, especially when it was a nameless/faceless attack. But she was only a junior officer and this was several levels above her paygrade

Ensign Abrams, Security

“This food is pretty good, ” Zeke noted, changing the subject. After all, they were here on shore leave. Not to speculate about concerns for the security of the Federation.
