“Great, let’s just do it, then.” Johann rather dramatically twirled his index finger as he used it to press the intercom button on his desk. =/\= Jerrin Yeceb, report to the Captain’s Ready Room. =/\=

There was a slight delay and it wouldn’t have been entirely out of line to assume the unexpected comm call had startled him. =/\=Uh, Jerrin here, uh Captain. I’ll head there now. End. Err, Jerrin out.=/\=

Johann attempted to stifle a giggle but didn’t quite succeed. Fortunately it didn’t go over the comm system.

Vora grinned. Standard comm protocols were likely to be on the list of things he learned sooner rather than later.

“Actually, does he know where it is?” he wondered aloud.

– Johann Dvorak, CO

Vora nodded. “Yeah, like me he’s memorized the ship, especially after the last incident found him in an area he shouldn’t have been. He won’t make that mistake again. Though being called up here is going to make him nervous, and then defensive when he sees me here. Just warning you.”

“Oh that’s fine. I can work with that,” he said nonchalantly. “The trick is to strike the correct balance between wonder and terror.”

She laughed lightly. “Consider me your ever willing student.”

A short while later, the chime rang.

“Come in,” Johann said.

The tall Tenraith teen stepped in, looking at least like he was properly dressed and given he was often being tutored by the crew, managed to appear not entirely rumpled. His eyes darted between his mother and the captain and while his gaze had lingered on Vora for a few extra beats, it settled on Johann. “You asked to see me?” he said quietly, fidgeting with his fingers.

“Yes,” Johann said almost as sternly as when he originally spoke to Vora when she came in. “Have a seat.”

It took Jerrin no time at all to process the Captain’s tone and his mother’s presence and figure out that this was about his stupid fight with the engineer. He had no idea what to expect from this summons but whatever hope he had that it wasn’t bad was quickly disappearing.

“I heard a rumor from someone about you lately. Something about… not wanting to be treated like ‘a baby.’ Is that right?”

– Johann Dvorak, CO

Jerrin’s eyes went wide. “Please don’t send away my mom! It all happened so fast and I promise it won’t ever happen again. It’s not her fault!-“

Jerrin!” Vora interrupted quickly, turning to face her son and resting a hand on his arm as she watched him erupt into a near panic attack. “It’s okay!”

“But, he said-“

“Take a deep breath!” she all but ordered and waited till he did so before she continued. She raised her eyebrows slightly. “It’s okay. We aren’t going anywhere. It hasn’t come to that… yet.”

Jerrin took her words in and the panic left his face. “Oh.” But her warning was clear.
