“Does it vary with the intensity of the threat?” Zeke asked. “Like. A mugger versus someone who’s about to assassinate you?”

CMO

Cassidy managed not to roll her eyes at the CMO’s question. It was hardly the time and place to go getting super curious when the person you were conversing with was on edge, but she also knew info was important at the moment. Mostly she was interested in whether it was Archie’s sense actually picking something up, or him just reacting to memories. But there was no easy way to find that out at the moment.

Ensign Abrams, Security

Archie shook his head. “No,” He replied sadly. ” I just, click click, feel like I am being watched by a Nork’lak. It’s a predator on our moon, click click. They hide in shadows, sometimes for days then jump out to maul you, click click.” He explaines shaking a little.

“My apologize, click click. I should be grateful and safe here.”

Cassidy shifted her body so she could face Archie fully, so he could see that she was not armed or doing any thing threatening. “Hey, it’s okay. It’s perfectly normal to be feeling like you are after what has happened. Try not to be so hard on yourself.” She wasn’t sure what the social mores were for his species, so she refrained from touching him, since even in a comforting gesture it could be taken wrongly.

Ensign Abrams, Security

“I thank you, click, click. You are the most kind species that I have ever encountered.” He shifted uneasy, still obviously spooked. He looked around, but there was nothing out of the ordinary. He was done with his meal and the bartender took the plate and cup away.

“I thank you for the conversation and to, click click, helping to put me at ease.”

-GMT

“You’re welcome. Glad we could help,” Abrams said sincerely. She couldn’t help but smile at Archie since she too knew what it was like to lose someone you loved. Hers was nothing like his but it still was etched deeply in her heart.

Archie tried to smile back, but it just made him look a little scary. He then left the bar, looking around quickly as he did, still spooked.

Sienna had had enough sulking on her own on the base. There had been no reports of the man she was forever looking for, no reports of his specifically needed equipment being stolen in this sector of space. Between the lack of leads and her own feeling of loneliness, she was just depressed. She had just been ready to go back to the ship when she spotted the wine bar and grill. Loving a good cup of wine and feeling a little hungry, she turned into the bar. At the very least, she could get a different style of food to enjoy. Maybe, it would make her feel better.

Once inside, she saw Ensign Abrams. Smiling, she walked up to the woman. “May I join you?”

Nox, CNS

Cassidy gestured to the stool. “By all means, Counsellor.” She leaned slightly towards Nox. “In fact, you just missed my diplomatic counselling skills in action. Careful, I might have to change professions again,” she added with a very obvious and teasing wink. She had been glad to be of help, and really, being a security officer meant that you have to deal with people who were dealing with circumstances. How you navigated reactions and anticipated things often dictated whether you ended up just being a mediator or whether you had to use some force. She’d avoid the latter as much as possible.

Ensign Abrams, Security

Sienna smiled. “Well, I shall be on the lookout then. As your counselor, I am only too glad to assist in anything that will further your mental, physical and emotional well being.” She sat down and briefly looked at the menu before pointing to food and wine. “No doubt being a security officer requires a certain degree of skills that are similar to my own. Talking down a situation can be just as effective as firing a phaser. Knowing the difference between which is necessary is vital. I wouldn’t have approved your application to change to Security if I had not thought you had that talent. Have you been enjoying your meal here?”

A glass of wine was set before Sienna and she took a sip of its bold flavor before sighing. Her mind was seemingly split but she was making an effort to be social.

Nox, CNS

“I actually haven’t had a chance to eat anything yet. I was distracted by the conversation with this being who was here, named Archie. Giant spider looking person,” she said neutrally. “He’s waiting for his asylum petition to be decided on and had a difficult moment. I feel for him, she said as she reached for a menu. Abrams waved it slightly. “But, I really could use a bite to eat. Apparently the burgers are good.”

Sienna looked back towards the entrance as she pulled a menu of her own out for perusal. She had seen the giant spider looking person, as Cassidy had described, and couldn’t say that it had not been rather scary looking. She turned back to her companion and smiled. “OH? I do love a good burger.”

“Well, that’s the word apparently. Won’t know until we try,” Cass said with a slight smirk.

“Asylum requests are tricky things. Lots of paperwork and if you don’t know the legalese, it can be even harder. I hope he feels better. Having a friendly ear probably helped.” She looked at the menu and picked a burger as well as a cup of wine.

Nox, CNS

“I hope so. It seems a difficult situation and it was hard to know how best to go about the conversation because, well first contact for me and all. Having never encountered one of his species, I had no idea if I would do or say anything offensive. All I know is that I’m damned glad I am not a diplomat.”

Ensign Abrams, Security

Siennadye laughed and nodded. “Diplomacy is a fine art and Counselors must apply it regularly. To be honest, it was something I was less skilled in than I would have liked. Granted, Doctors do work on their bedside manner a lot in school, but it’s not the same when the people you are speaking to are healthy and their lives are rarely in danger. However, thats amusing to me that you are glad you are not a diplomat. Security definitely dips their toes into it more often than Science.”
