Zorell Quarters- Immutable Memories

Posted Feb. 10, 2019, 12:50 p.m. by Lieutenant Junior Grade Vora Zorell (Scientist) (Lindsay B)

Vora sat at the desk in her and Jerrin’s quarters pondering how to begin. After Nox had left the holodeck, she knew that she needed to not put off starting this project, especially since it was consuming her mind so fully at the moment. But deciding to begin was the easy part. Figuring out what to write was quite another.

Her long pale-yellow fingers tapped on the desktop and she sighed deeply. The screen before her was blank.

Perhaps it was easier to just begin at the beginning and see where that led her? She had to remember her intention was to write her story and distribute it in pieces. Those pieces had to be digestible and also be written carefully that it could be anyone, and not specifically traced to her.

“Computer, begin transcription,” she said, turning back and forth on her chair a bit.

“Many people like me…” Vora watched as the computer translated her voice into words on her screen. She sighed. No, it was wrong. It didn’t feel right. “Computer delete words.” The words disappeared.

“In a place where what is normal is… computer delete words.” Nope, not that either.

“My earliest memory is the smell of my mother making sasso cookies. The spices used wafted through our tiny apartment and when I asked her what she was doing, she pulled over a chair, stood me on the seat and let me watch her make the batter.” Vora smiled. Yes, she was on to something. She continued.

To be continued…
