OCC: This take place after the briefing by the Captain.

IC: It had been a quiet couple weeks after the Europa left. NC Jameson, a young crewmen from beta shift was manning the impulse generator display. Routine for a non commissioned officer, and while they were at warp, boring work. He had just turned 21 a week before they departed Starbase 51. He was excited for career, he hoped that he could eventually be commissioned as an officer. He was rejected for star fleet academy, but tested well in engineering and operations to take a non-comm role in star fleet. He knew that if he worked hard, he could maybe qualify for the academy again. As he sat there thinking, he didn’t noticed at first an error that appeared on his display. The flashing red light caught his attention and he turned to look.
The display showed a that there was a heat issue with the slush deuterium from the main tank. The deuterium wasn’t being cooled enough as it fed into impulse engine #3.
Jameson tuned to look around, looking for an officer.

Madison came into main engineering with a pile of PaDDs in her hand and noticed the red light “Ensign, what’s going on.” She asked setting down the PaDDs and pulling up the screen to see why there was a red light and how they needed to correct it. Seeing the heat issue her hands flew across the screen as she began working on cooling down the deterium in impulse engine 3. Madison touched her comm badge =^=Captain, we need to shut down impulse engine 3. We are having an overheating issue. =^=

CE

Initial attempts were unsuccessful in cooling down the deuterium. It appeared that something was preventing the coolant from getting to the deuterium tank.

The Captain’s reply was short, simple, and to the point:

=/\= Proceed. We will continue at warp speed. Keep us updated. Bridge out. =/\=

–Johann Dvorak, CO

Madison nodded =^=I’ll keep you posted.=^= She said as she grabbed a repair kit and headed for the damaged area.

CE

Inside the control room everything looked normal, except for a display that indicated that deuterium temperature was at 87% of maximum stable tempature and rising.
