The same thought that had crossed Madison’s mind also had crossed the Captain’s, but he didn’t speak of it. The alarming thing was that it was also a precursor to what was listed in the secret report from the Admiral. Though, in thinking about the report, he also had a brief flash of memory about… something…

He looked over at Avik and leaned in closely, speaking quietly so that nobody else on the Bridge could clearly hear.

“In the report, there were some names… it said the meaning was unknown. Did you run a computer check on any of them?”

– Johann Dvorak, CO

Keeping tabs on the readouts on her console, Abrams double checked that there wasn’t anything of concern in the vicinity.

Madison touched her comm badge =^=Captain, we need to shut down impulse engine 3. We are having an overheating issue. =^=

Avik tilted her head, noticing the CO lean into her direction. She nodded subtly as she took a moment to recall, her mind pulled up the information. It would take a bit since it took her all night to various research over the cryptic, classified files. The most time-consuming part was decrypting and bypassing the classified security. Finally, she had sorted out what files were relevant before seeking out the meaning of the names.

“Most the information led back to myths and fictional stories. Any concrete meanings were not found, but I’m still searching through the data in my head,” Avik spoke truthfully.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

“That’s what I thought… I could have sworn that I heard one of those names before from something from some old Earth myth.” He didn’t actually know enough about Earth myths to actually know what he was talking about. “I want to say Ancient Egypt, but this is a topic I know next to nothing about at all, so I don’t even know if that’s a remotely useful guess.”

As he was speaking, he felt sudden onset of extreme bowel discomfort, and very quickly exited the Bridge.

Madison’s voice caught her attention, the statement briefly answered by the Captain. For a moment, Avik found herself curious and glanced at the CO’s chair. It was empty. Some point during the conversation, she had missed the CO having to attend to some urgent needs. Dismissing the mystery in her head, Avik took charge.

She decided to address Madison.

=^= This is XO Avik, the CO is preoccupied. I have a question, do you know the cause? =^= Avik asked.

As she waited for the CE to report back, her figure took a seat at the nearest console and began pulling up data over a species she recalled in her research. The Elimites. Though her mind could retain a lot of information, she still needed the help of machines to fill in the facts she was missing.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

Madison replied to the XO =^=Not yet Commander. I’m on my way up there to figure out what’s going on.=^= She said =^=Once I have some information I’ll let you know.=^= Madison said as she headed to the impulse engine.

The doors opened and the Captain resumed his seat on the Bridge.

“Sorry about that,” he said to Avik without choosing to elaborate any further on what happened. “While I was out, I was just thinking that this insistence the Admiral had on not telling the crew what we know was very silly. I think we should brief the department heads on what we know, though he might consider it an overly-broad interpretation of his orders.”
